Rusty Lake Hotel is set in the same Rusty Lake location as the Cube Escape, but is not considered part of the Cube Escape series. The game takes place at the Rusty Lake Hotel in 1893 and the player must prepare and serve meals to the five guests at the hotel by finding meat and ingredients while exploring. A number of stars are rewarded for each meal so let's see if I can do the Rusty Lake Hotel all stars challenge! At the lovely hotel we have such astute guests such as Mr. Boar and Ms. Pheasant, all under the watchful supervision of the hotel owner: Mr. Owl. Things we know to be true based on the 3 Rusty lake game. Spoiler warning. - Paradise is the first in timeline, in the 1700s roughly 100 years before hotel. - Roots take place during hotel, the puzzle involving observing animals through a telescope in root seems to be canon to the timeline. - Crow is one of the brothers of the Venderboom in root and uncle of James. When drinking elixir, one died and become ghost(PC), the other one survive and end up working in the hotel. - Cube escape are mostly came after the three Rusty Lake Game in timeline. Conjectures: - Jakob most likely did end up becoming an immortal wereowl at the end of Paradise. - The island of Hotel and Paradise are the same.

Good points and guesses, but one thing to say is that there aren't 3 games in the rusty lake series, there's 12. Nine of the games in the series are free, short games that are considered part of the story and do reveal a fair bit more. Namely figuring out how the Venderboom tie into everything with roots, who the baby was, who the man in the ascending elevator is, who and what the hotel guests really were/are, and what Mr. Owl's entire motivation is for all of this. Things like that.

+Mellomori Ya I am still working through Cube escape myself so it is hard to say. Trying not to spoil cube escape for people browsing through here. Rose and baby 2.0 are most likely not involve in the prequels as far as I have seen. Still figuring out if they are involved in cube escape. Hotel's PC is also still a mystery to me, within the timeline he could be Jakob, or his father or brother or not related at all it is hard to say what exactly happen at the end of paradise. My theory for hotel is that Jakob became Mr Owl and has been sacrificing memory cubes to the lake to appease his mom who is now Lady of the Lake. The animal could be his family who gain immortality after sacrificing him, their reincarnated soul, or just some asshole who share similar traits to his family. Deer/father being obsessive toward knowledge, Rabbit/brother being a trickster, Boar/Uncle being a brute. Maybe grandma was torturing her children before like Pigeon? I am not sure if the sister was willing to kill herself for attentions. But ya, maybe some symbolism in cube escape will narrow down the answer, so far it still escape me.

Hmm, its hard to say since its hard to figure out who Harvey is. It hard to say if he's a bird turned into something like a human for hotel, or if hes a human turned bird, or something in between like the bat, who keeping spoilers as small as possible, we do see in the cube escape games and is still his strange animal humanoid self.

I never made the connection that parrot Harvey and Hotel PC are the same. But ya, in Root Harvey shown up after you point a telescope at hotel. I guess Mr Crow sent it.

this game and the cube escape stuff is so weird. here you're making a bloody mary for a deer with his own blood taken from breaking off one of his antlers, water from the lake that you just took out with a bucket you found lying around the room, tabasco sauce that drips from the nostrils of the deerskull in the room and then finally poison from a mysterious plant grown by putting a seed you found inside a moth into a little jar which grew to full size in seconds giving you seeds which you ground up, rendered into liquid poison, put into his drink and served AS HE WAS WATCHING YOU FROM HIS SEAT THE WHOLE TIME

The first game in the trilogy?!? Nonono. It all started in May 2015 with Cube Escape: Seasons, and by the time this game came out there were already six others. There are now thirteen. Plus, most of the ideas and art style in these games come from Samsara Room, released by the future Rusty Lake dev(s) in Sep 2013.

Ahh now I get it. It was confusing with the comments but I think Jesse replayed the game to get a better idea of the whole lore (since he said oh god I remember the photoahoot). I actually had to do that to figure out what the hell all of this means after Paradise. But still, its like a trip down memory lane....that makes it really confusing. :Y

maybe the owl represents the lake and each animal actually represents a family that lives around the lake and the metaphor is that they destroyed each other and eventually the lake consumed them all

That works for some, but not for all. Mr Owl, for example, is definitely one specific person, as is mister crow. The guests I'm not sure about.

Paradox would seem to provide confirmation not only that Mr. Owl has indeed been Jakob Eilander the whole time, but also that the Mr. Rabbit (Hare?) that killed Dale's parents was not only the Hotel magician but also Jakob's brother David. So I think the devs do intend them to be specific people, but their personalities have changed so much from game to game that it doesn't always seem that way.

Jesse, I'm surprised you never played ALL the games, Rusty Lake AND Cube Escape. You would find out so much more. In Rusty Lake Roots you also didn't finish the game; you never got all the family secrets at the end, which actually make more sense when you play the Cube Escape games.

Die Hard 3 gallon problem: You have 3 gallon bottle and 5 gallon bottle. - fill the 5 gallon bottle entirely - pour the water out of 5 gallon bottle to 3 gallon bottle so in 5 gallon bottle the remaining amount of water is 2 gallons. -pour all the water from 3 gallon bottle out. -you have 2 gallons of water in 5 gallon bottle and empty 3 gallon bottle -pour 2 gallons out of 5 gallon bottle into 3 gallon bottle and then fill the 5 gallon bottle -now you have 3 gallon bottle, which contains 2 gallons and 5 gallon bottle which contains 5 gallons. -fill the 3 gallon bottle with 5 gallon bottle and you have 4 gallons of water in your 5 gallon bottle. - 4 gallons was the required amount.

This is the first "rusty lake" but far from the first game. The first series is cube escape. All three rusty lake games are in fact the side plots. You only see the main character for a moment here. That same man that people mistakenly think they were playing all along here. The person in the elevator is Dale, not harvey, whom mr owl called you at the end. You trying to understand this? hah. By playing only the premium you are just glancing at the rabbit standing outside its deep creepy hole behind it.

Watching Dodger's version on RU-vid will actually probably be more fun, just because she's going in blind (And doesn't accidentally Sequence Break through the last room), so you get the full "What the Fuck is happening!?" reaction that makes these games fun to watch.
