@@august_yuuka Why would they underestimate FLY game 3. They already got bodied by them game 1, they should've known if they didn't take them seriously they would lose. Even then HLE nearly lost a bo3 to FLY a week prior, that enough should let GENG know that they're actually a threat.
FlyQuest, you have earned my respect!!! Well, put it this way, GENG is a team to claim the S14 trophy with a favour and they have to withstand the high pressure; whereas FlyQuest is typically a unsung hero and they basically have nothing to lose, as such they can fight GEN G with no regret. Dude, this is absolutely, one of the best yet surprising BO5 that I have ever seen.
Funnily enough Caedrel said the same thing (knocked into the stratosphere) 😂 Edit: Caedrel said “he went to the stratosphere” the same time flowers said his line.
@@mahatmaniggandhi2898I mean it quite literally is since Geng was considered the best team in knockouts coming into top 8 while Fly were considered the worst.
@@mahatmaniggandhi2898 Shows how much you know about worlds teams. geng is definetly the tournament favourite and best team in korea, just because they lost one Bo5 against HLE that doesnt change it. And I dont have to explain that regions have different strength, EU and NA struggle against the 3rd and 4th seeds of china/korea.
Man just imagine an alternate universe where the baron sneak attempt in game 5 went undetected... I think if that play worked out we'd be seeing FLY vs T1 on Sunday. Funny though that no one is talking about how GENG won, just how well FLY played.
Cuz lets be fair geng played poorly ,they underistmated and played weird, yes they did win 2 games in a row to secure spot but this series will haunt them as they almost lost if they got trash mentality
@@jenzu4229 nah, GenG didn't play that poorly. The games GenG won were very, very decisive. While for FLY it always felt like an uphill battle. I do agree though that there was probably some underestimation & being caught off guard by FLY's picks.
@@LuchIsLucky Because for the entire year, and even in their last series, TL had better macro play than FLY. Macro is what wins you games. Not wacky picks or crazy plays, or good hands. Yes, those can win you games sometimes. But good old fashioned macro play is how you will win CONSISTENTLY. We saw it the entire year, TL was better than FLY. Against T1, LNG, and WBG, TL was able to get leads using PURE MACRO. No NA team is able to do that, not even FLY. TL dropped off in performance after week 1 of worlds. And for that reason I'd prefer FLY make it. But if you gave me the choice before worlds started who Id rather go through to Quarters. Hell, even after week 1, I'd still choose TL The importance of being able to play macro to the level of these Eastern teams CANNOT be understated or overlooked. TL just needed better hands. And no. FLY shouldn't be stomping next year. The ONLY reason, (FLY said this themselves) FLY got this good was because they had TL to push them. To contest the entire year Next year will be more of the same. You'd better hope for FLY's sake
@@ObiWanShinobi917 having better macro than NA teams and potentially better macro than some eastern teams doesnt matter for shit internationally when their players mechanics are at way too low of a level to compete
@@ObiWanShinobi917 FLY def deserved to go through after seeing what TL did this worlds lol. Corejj and impact don't have hands. However, even if they found their hands, I still think FLYQ would've had a better chance against GENG specifically. There's no way you beat GENG off of macro. Their history of their team's success relies on beating you with better macro and scale up to a gold/dragon advantage lategame. If it was any other team, I think peak TL would clear FLYQ on the international stage. Just not GENG.
that was such a hype series i was screaming on top of my lungs every time fly won a fight. Felt fucking depressed when they lost. So close to being the biggest upset in history :(
Im a GEN huge fan but FLY made me believe and i wouldnt mind of they win. Actually in the game 5 i was rooting for them to win. Well played FLY. Great fight!
Never been so hyped for a series ever. Is this the starting point for the rebirth of our region? I can not wait to see what next year holds. And now im rooting for GenG to win the whole thing xD. Because that would mean NA nearly defeated the team that would become the world champs.
As a Eu and western LoL fan this series should the blueprint on how modern western teams need to play the eastern teams. Creativity in draft with flexibility is 100% the way. I predict this series will have the same effect the on NA as the 2017 Misfits series vs skt T1 had on Eu. It should the west can go toe to toe with even the world’s best.
Yeah I do that for big moments for games that are dry. Like some of my past videos. If there is a lot going on I try to put it in one video. I appreciate the advice!!!
I think FLY could have won any team other than GEN in quarters, even BLG or T1. So disappointing to see they eventually cannot overcome 'real' scaling drafts.
FLY wanted to go out with a bang. GEN G knew that and they played the most oppressive comp imaginable against that: a stall comp. Idk what they could have done differently but with a different mentality FLY might have won with a better draft (as opposed to one that they chose being sending everyone and their grandma at the enemy team). If FLY treated last game more as a game that they need to win in order to advance as oppose to one that they need to create the most impact, maybe their draft wouldn't be so careless. Everyone knew GEN G would go back to their comfort picks being late game scaling, but not many have cracked how to beat them. But alas, despite that FLY did more DMG to GEN G than the rest of the world combined in this year (excluding the eliminated HLE in LCK finals) so massive props to NA.
To be honest if I was the coach I wouldn't force quad to play one and instead go for skarner and give yone to chovy then counter it with smolder or zeri mid or maybe locking galio much early. Damn I have so much idea on that game 5 draft but they prefer going for uncomfortable picks.
They almost did it man. I kind of knew game 5 was gonna be hard af if they’re not getting an early advantage, but I’m glad they actually took GenG to a game 5 that GenG. Unfortunately I think T1 might get folded if T1 doesn’t also switch up the draft picks and throw GenG off their game. I think if both teams just play meta vs meta, GenG comes out on top.
Don't think so. GenG always seem to have problems against teams and playstyles outside of the LCK but anyone inside the LCK has been too conditioned to play a certain way and T1 is no different. Unless GenG totally slump or T1 play out of their mind, I don't see GenG losing to them.
@@MillicenteGenG just knows eastern teams too well because they play the same game and GenG plays that game near flawlessly. FlyQuest did so well today because they didn’t play GenG’s game, they forced GenG to play their game.
this will continue the delusion of western fans that the LCS is somehow competitive internationally. lmao. not even close. GenG played cocky and were clearly rusty and they still won convincingly. besides, it's not like this is the finals, it's only the quarters.
All your comment would be true if they were Dk, Wbg or Lng but they are The Geng, the first korean sead. It is still a good achivment, even if they played worse than normal. And the " it is quarter, not finals" doesn't mean anything
@@stormsniper4765 western fanboys like you are coping. not me. what do you expect canyon to say in a post match interview "we thought NA are losers so we played loose". lmao.
