If I hadn't have discovered that you are from Russia, I would have had major problems with you and your journey through Africa. As you know, Russia did not colonise any part of Africa, in fact Russia or the Soviet Union, played a significant role in the fight for the liberation of many African states. With all that being said, today Africa is facing "Neo colonialism". The top of the list of predators is France and China. If that wasn't bad enough, Africans are treated horribly in countries like France and China. As an African, I therefore have an antipathy to seeing "Europeans and Chinese" looking people in Africa.

It is interesting thank you. It happens in Russia as well. Stupid people, without education can be a bit aggressive against black or other foreigners. But smart and educated people always will treat other people well. I agree with you that the issue of neo colonialism really exists. The governments of African countries should stop it for sure. But when you meet tourists on the street, they are not connected with neo colonialism actually. They just want to see the world, to share good emotions with their friends, to meet other cultures. Tourism is a good and healthy process. What do you think?

@@annagross: Thanks for your response. Fundamentally I agree with you because this world belongs to all who live in it. Therefore, just like our ancestors who were nomads/hunter gatherers, we deserve the right to roam and explore our planet. However not so long ago the European came and started colonising land putting up borders, enslaving people, instilling the idea of passports, visas to restrict liberties and movement etc. These same Europeans want global access to everywhere but do not want, particularly Africans who are deemed to be undesirables, to move to lands that are typically regarded as historically their's. This is where we are today. Over the millennia Africa has been destabilised and pillaged in every way imaginable. Now when Africans want to go to where their resources are being used, these Europeans want to ban any form of migration. Let me be very clear, I really like Russian people. My interactions with people from Russia has always been positive. Like I said previously, Russia has historically been benevolent and friendly to Africa. This relationship exists till today with Russian foreign policies being more equitable than those of the West. Although slowly, some African governments are waking up to the reality that the tradition Europeans have never been any good for Africa. Although I made the point about Neo colonialism, I'd be the first to admit that the input China has had in terms of developing infrastructure in the last 30/40 years has been immense. During which time the Chinese have left more positive development on the African continent than the Europeans have done in the last two hundred years. Where I have reservations with the Chinese, is there is a strong suspicion that the deals they do in Africa are debt traps. They also do not engage in "skill sharing" work whereby Africans can continue the maintenance after the work of the Chinese has been completed. Another area of concern is their pollution of the environment and their disregard for the well-being of African wild life. Finally, the influx of the Chinese in Africa seems like an invasion. Many of them seem to want to colonise different areas in African countries and there have been many instances whereby they attempt to bar indigenous Africans from gaining entry. SMDH. I love Russians .... my advice is you should advertise the fact that you are Russian in order for Africans not to mistaken you for Western Europeans ...... because educated Africans like Russians. Enjoy Africa. PS: Yes I know that there are some ignorant Russians who have far right ideologies especially in Russia.
