The classical music intro is 'Dance of the Knights' from the Romeo & Juliet ballet ; the idea is the same as in West Side Story with two armed gangs facing off. I actually think the minor chords and the aggressive drive makes it sound pretty 'modern'
Hey, I'm writing an essay on this film for college and I'm wondering if you can help me out! How is race portrayed in this film and how can I tie this film back to the Black Lives Matter movement happening today?

I love the British dance movies better than the Step Up movies because the Step Up movies a full of Michael Jackson moves and there is no Michael Jackson moves in the British movies. I love the British Street dance movies.
This final dance was so much better than the final battle in the second movie! Also think the mix ballet/street works so much better than the mix latin/street! If there was ever the idea for a streetdance 3 I hope they would go back to this combo or at least the same crew
That's not "conveniently", they booed the slow ballet start cuz it's not what they're there for and cheered when it picked up the pace and the actual street dancing started.
phroggysmyles74 I meant what they were aiming for in the movie with a mix of Ballet and Street. I dont know much about ballet, so I was trying to be generic
Don't judge without watching this amazing video. It is not only about the dance , it is about fighting for something you really really love. And it is about working together in a team with many different personalities and styles and trying to get one great result with mixing up this styles.
Great combination of ballet and street dance! The idea was that both different genres could be brought together as one. We are all entitled to our opinion(s). This is mine. Thank you so much for uploading. I may be in my 60's but I love all types of music/dance.

Everyone who says this is weird doesn't know how much work this is. To train this must have taken so much time. I think to learn this for a movie is great. I love the film. It' awesome!!!
I love how the one prima balerina who was most against the streetdancers ends up dansing most of the streetdance in this final performance. More than the other balerinas!

Everyone in the comments are complaining about how the crowd is quick to change from boos to cheers when the music switched from classic to hip hop. But did anyone else notice that it went back to classic at point around 2:20 and the crowd was still cheering for them? I personally think the first time it was one of those "finally some action!" kind of cheers when they first switched tunes and when the dance went on it started to dawn on nearly everyone what was going on and at that point at 2:20 the cheers had become more genuine
Was absolutely surprised by this movie.Thought it was gonna be a pile of crap but it was one of the best feel good films i've seen for a long time. All the dancers were great but my favourite was little Steph.Excellent!

THE scene that made fall in love with dancing evenmore ! even tho everytime I remember only the beginning and the girl on the bed x) Watched it with my mom, we it was on the cinema, and we loved it so much !
people may think this is gay because they don't appreciate ballet..but this very uncommon hybrid of two genre really is wonderful to watch =p I'm a hiphop dancer and i wanna learn ballet too..still hoping it's not yet the end of the line for me hehe
