Never knew about that widescreen mode for 2nd Impact. Looks great too.

Also I find it cool how someone actually cares about the timeline. Years ago before SFV came out, we had an inkling that Shadaloo had fallen as evidenced by Urien's dialogue with Chun-Li in 3S but had no idea how they were destroyed.

Great work on these retrospectives! James and Capcom really killed it, I could watch these all day.

Street Fighter 3 is still my favorite SF. Specially the third game - Third Strike. The animations, the music, the new characters, the controls, the game mechanics.... everything about that game feels so good even today

Street Fighter III is honestly my favorite series of Street Fighter. The hip-hop music, the beautiful aesthetics of every single stage and the fact that they decided not to just rely off every old character and created an equally memorable ensemble cast just blows my mind.

Third Strike forever my favourite SF. When SF3 first came out I was one of them that hated the game. 2nd impact was better especially with akuma now available but once Third Strike dropped I was so happy that capcom sorted things out. I have the game in all formats from dreamcast, ps2, ps3 and even on phone via emulators.

That ending sentence brought a tear to my eye... Damn. Such a beautiful video. Keep up this kind of mindset, Capcom, please.

I really want to play Third Strike online, without buying a used PS3, but I have no confidence that Capcom will stand behind the 30th Anniversary Collection and correct its flaws.

I remember when the original Street Fighter III came out and it was missing a lot of the classic characters. A lot of people disliked it.

. I had A dreamcast and had SFIII...it was truly an unbelievably polished and groundbreaking game.

I only ever got to play 3rd Impact in arcades one time when a bowling alley had it. The next time I returned they had gotten rid of it which has haunted me for years and years. I wish I had played a few more rounds while I still could have. Being able to play a fighting game in the arcade is something I deeply miss from when I was younger. Nowadays the only arcade game I ever come across in my area are the big Namco games of the 80's, a few racing games and light gun games. If there are ever any fighting games in the wild they are almost always Mortal Kombat 3. I would wrassle a gator to be able to have an arcade near me with any fighting games, beat-em-ups or shmups. I was excited to learn a bar near me had a big arcade in it compared to anywhere else by me and was disappointed when I found out it's mostly just 16 pinball machines. I mean, pinball is fun. Playing drunk pinball is a blast. I was just really hoping to be able to through some fireballs at a stranger or play Turtles in Time with my wife.

Years ago on an animecon I joined this SF3'rd strike tournament with a friend. First round, my opponent opened with a hadouken and I parried it, I glanced at my buddy and thought ''I got this bro.'' Got my ass handed over to me right after that.

The art and everything about street fighter 3 is just amazing

This is the first time I saw any street fighter 3 games. Its funny to think about it. Somewhere between the release of street fighter 2 and street fighter 4, I must have had a real life... because there is a big black hole where I seem to not have played video games. I remember trying a street fighter alpha... in arcade or maybe a dreamcast or some console... but street fighter 3... seems I have no memory at all... cant even remember hearing anyone talk about it. never saw it in arcade, never saw any ads for it. its like it never really existed till today. even when I went to buy street fighter 4... I remember just shrugging the idea off... like, I assume there was street fighter 3... I guess...

I love, and always will love Street Fighter. this collection is great, but I'm just seriously frustrated. I payed good cash for Ultra Street Fighter II: The Final Challengers. And now I have to pay EVEN MORE for thus masterpiece, when 1/2 of this collection is Street Fighter 2 anyway! Can we AT LEAST get a discount, Capcom? Please?

Rewatching this video again as this month marked the 25th anniversary of 3rd Strike

The animation was incredible, not just for the time. Not only do you have a shit ton of frames for things like the flowing clothes, walk cycles and idles that were smooth and mesmerizing, the keyframes for the hits were bold and dynamic. When Makoto punches you FEEL it. Chun Li's kicks are worth studying if you draw anything with fighting in it. Alex's movements properly convey that he is a powerful dude who is gonna throw someone through a floor. We have had many beautiful 2D/quasi 2D games since then but SF3's animation still stands above and beyond in terms of polish.

I often wondered why the Street Fighter 3 saga was overlooked or just never gained traction. I personally didn't even know there was a Street Fighter 3 until about 2007-2008, and that's because we've started hearing rumblings of Street Fighter 4 at the time.

I had played a version of sf 3 in an arcade once and i was always intrigued as to what sf that was since i was a kid at the time and couldnt remember the title and I just remembered that the characters had big feet.I picked up 3rd strike about 7 years ago when I found out it was available on ps3. Ive never looked back since then and like many, the Daigo parry video just blew my socks off...

Third Strike still the greatest fighting game of all time, and one of the greatest games ever produced. Only GGXXACR and Last Blade 2 come close, and Ishiwatari loves SF3, so his taste flawless.

My favorite incarnation of Ryu. He had both Shin Shoryuken and Joudan Sokutogeri. His Shin Shoryuken does a lot of damage and it's good for comebacks. I like using his Sokutogeri for setups and it's safer on block. For example if the kick was blocked, I'll follow up with a Shoryuken. As far as safer, if was blocked you'll be at a safer distance compared to the Tatsumaki being blocked. If the Tatsumaki was blocked, it leaves you open for a grab or a combo.

Street Fighter III 3rd Strike is one of my favorites along with Street Fighter 1, Street Fighter 2 (Champion Edition and Hyper Fighting), Super Street Fighter 2 (Turbo), Street Fighter Alpha 2 (Gold), Street Fighter Alpha 3 (MAX), and Ultra Street Fighter IV. Still this game is the greatest of all time. 😀

Glad i was born when i did. As a kid after school (keep in mind im 18) i would go to the arcade everyday and play these i had a ps1 at the time at him in 2005 to 2007 i think but i nvr played it as much since i use a joystick to play my fighting games after time i started going everyday until 2013 when i found out about fightcade (yes ik there was a 360/ps3 version but my parents didnt have all that money to buy me a 360 or ps3 since they knew i'd just be happy if i could go to the arcade every day and keep in mind i live in a 3rd world country. Around the time sfv came out i played it in the arcade along with tekken 7 (idk how they had a tekken 7 machine in 2016 with it was exclusive to japan but at the time i didnt know it was) over all i hated sfv so i continued playing 3rd strike and at this point i was 16 and when they would have tourneys it would always be at this one 3rd strike machine lmao the amount of ppl that would be there after school and on the weekends i would spend like 3 hours there after school and reach home at 7 and on the weekends it would basically be all day. Earlier this year around jan i built my gaming pc and got the 30th collection as a gift from my parents who said i deserve it. In all honestly the money i spent in that arcade over time prob wouldve been enough to buy a ps3/ps4 now that i think about it but i dont regret it that arcade was my childhood. Lol i was at the arcade yesterday spite that i have a gaming pc now lmao. 3rd strike will forever have a place in my heart

third strike and double impact were my favorites in the series! when those came out i had a Dreamcast! they were the best on that! man the animation and frame rate in those games were supreme! the Dreamcast was the best for Arcade fighters in 2000 2001! and man playing these games years later especially Third Strike! That Style! the game is full of Style that Streetfighter 3 really grounded throughout the years and playing this again just goes to show how well certain games age through the years and how awesome they still are! still have my copy of Third Strike on Dreamcast to! and play it every now and again! but this will be my go to now he he
