You are damn right, Capcom set the world ablaze with games like Streetfighter 2 and even Final Fight and for that they will always have a soft spot in my heart.
Dave Fish ? Pretty sure it doesn't have two of those things, this is arcade-perfect emulation which is why it has an extra frame of input lag. The netcode is GGPO (which is awesome) but problem is no matchmaking based on latency.
jdmikeg4 I was referring to Chris Eubank. If any boxer fits the persona of Dudley would be him. edit: To think of it anybody who reads this check out Chris Eubank. P.S. That “coward” sucker punched one of my all time favorite boxers, Arturo Gatti. No love for that dude.
Street Fighter IV was my first fighting game. Sunk so many hours into it, mainly doing trials. Still my favourite, even though I suck at it. There's something special about Street Fighter that keeps me coming back even though I know I'll never get better at it.
Sina Madani Learn how to anti airnat will and nutral. You can have the best combo's in the world but they mean nothing if you lack either one of the tools I just spoke of.
@@Phoenix-pb4sm Yeh the PHENOMENON started with SFII for sure. But there wouldn't have been SFII with out SFI so it was really important and began the whole thing.
@@rooneye Yeah, but no... SF2 started it... the first game was total junk... innovative controller for it however. I was there when it happened... nobody, I mean nobody talked or played SF1... for all intents and purposes, it began with SF2.
even absolute casuals as myself , who has never heard of pro gaming... know about that ken -blocking- parring all the hits of chun li with only 1 hit of life left in some tournament -is a legend of modern times P.D. edited the mention of blocking to parring, since it make many persons upset, sorry , as i mention, i'm just a casual and not used to the technical terms
If the original Street Fighter was released in 1987, why are we celebrating the 30th anniversary in 2018? Will Capcom address why the collection claims to be "arcade perfect" when background details (like the symbol on Guile stage) were altered. and only the first builds of the games were used, even though it was known (even back then) that the North American Super Turbo was broken? I live in Europe, I did not play a North American Super Turbo build. Why do I have to play this now, when it has to be "just as you remembered"
To (probably) answer your first question, they were just late on releasing this, coming off back-to-back anniversaries (Street Fighter II 25th Anniversary in 2016, and SF's 30th as whole in 2017). For your 2nd question, more advanced hardware...as far as changing the star design on Guile's level. Lastly, I agree on the NA version of Super Turbo being broken as all get out (I live in America). The AI is merciless
The jump in quality between Street Fighter and Street Fighter II never ceases to amaze me. 2d Capcom fighting games have held up better than literally any other games from their respective eras.
I myself, born in 90 never truly got too experience the arcade competitive scene. I was more or less an on looker as a 5 or 6 year old in the mvc days. Admiring from the back of the arcade at people crowded around the machines. This past weekend, last night in fact. Got to play third strike with someone in Portland at ground kontrol for the first time. Dude was a scrub I admit, but the old machine with the American style layout inhibited me a bit. Giving him somewhat of a handicap. We played a few rounds and I got too feel that thing that everyone always says about the arcades in the old'n days. That win, proof of skill and triumph. It was good, man, and I wish that our culture still embraced the idea of social gaming in the way that we did in the 80's and 90's. Because that is something that I know that I would cherish, and a setting that I would find myself in every weekend.
@@jblue88hoodgamer54 pretty obvious those are frauds who wanna feel like they're "one of the guys" now that gaming is popular. thats why playing games should never have been monetized.
When you look at Final Fight and Street Fighter 2 that CPS 1 board is incredible. So fast and fluid and it really allows the artists to make some beautiful sprite work
I love it, it gives such a sense of punch to the hits. At least the Alpha games have a kind of similar sound, SF3 does too, although I prefer it in the first SF3 game.
The original Street Fighter (fighting street) was relatively unknown when SF2 came out (I was in HS). It wasn't until the unprecedented success of SF2 that everyone started digging to the lore and origins of the game, and Street Fighter/Fighting Street was rediscovered.
@@rahulsagar5269 Doesn't even matter how good they are at the game, that's irrelevant. They made a great show, they didn't have to be good at the game for the show to be great.
The EX series wasn't actually a Capcom series. Hence why you don't see characters like Alan, or Garuda in street fighter, cuz Arika Systems owns the rights to those characters sadly.
Dan is the best character ever created in fighting games. He truly deserves to be the poster boy that Ryu could never achieve to really be, but Capcom just doesn't want that to happen.
ThatPSIkid Actually Dan was made to look like Robert Garcia (dark hair in a long ponytail) wearing Ryo's clothes (karate gi with ripped sleeves and a dark undershirt) colored in Ryu's and Ken's colors combined (red mixed with white is pink).
"Moment 37"..... I was lucky enough to be in the freaking room when it happened!!! It was nuts!!! ;) We lost it. Who knew that it would become such a big deal, and legendary moment in gaming history. So very very cool -MB
10:05 That music gives me the chills! I love the alpha series probly the most Alpha 3 in particular of course. The art style and gameplay is perfect to me.
Street Fighter has always been my favorite fighting game series, with Tekken being a close second. Anime fighters like Blazblue and others of its kind just don't do t for me due to the fact that there s way too much happening on the screen at once. From what I've seen so far from the Arcade Edition, Capcom are definitely listening to the fans of the series, thus giving the game the comeback it needs.
even tho we havent seen eye to eye in recent years...i still wanna give a big thank you to capcom (and everybody involved) for 30 years of joy and excitement that youve brought us! (now please, lets go back to hand drawn and strict one frame links...please!lets not run this important and phenomenal legacy COMPLETELY into the ground just to appease impatient, impulsive, game hopping 10 year old kids with zero dedication who want instant gratification...and will move on to something else in a month or two either way)
Balrog is not a random guy. He’s a professional boxer. I thought it was widely known that he was based on Mike Tyson. In Japan he was known as M.Bison and this was changed for the international version to avoid legal issues.
The sound of Street Fighter II's punches are just the epitome of satisfying. I wish the newer games had sounds that are that satisfying and awesome. The music has NEVER been beaten in any game IMO The guys responsible for the sounds/music are legends.
Games that Capcom forgot to add on SF 30th Anniversary: - Street Fighter Alpha 2 Gold - Street Fighter Alpha 3 Upper - Hyper Street Fighter II - Final Fight
If anyone at Capcom or Digital Eclipse is reading this, please do something about the 'missing' games in this compilation. - Street Fighter Zero 2 Alpha (i.e. Street Fighter Alpha 2 Gold) - Street Fighter Zero 3 Upper (i.e. Street Fighter Alpha 3 with the console exclusive characters) And while you're at it, fans would like: - Hyper Street Fighter II - Hyper Street Fighter III - Hyper Street Fighter Alpha - Super Gem Fighter Mini Mix - Super Puzzle Fighter While you're at it, why not a PS4 disc release for Ultra Street Fighter IV or just make a Hyper Street Fighter IV on disc and let us choose between all versions of the characters? Can we also get a "Vs" collection too? - X-Men Vs. Street Fighter - Marvel Super Heroes Vs. Street Fighter - Marvel Vs. Capcom - Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 - Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 - Capcom Vs. SNK PRO - Capcom Vs. SNK 2 - Tatsunoko Vs. Capcom - SVC Chaos: SNK Vs. Capcom
AGREED, THIS COLLECTION IS NOT. GOOD. ENOUGH CAPCOM! PATCH IN THESE IMPROVEMENTS IMMEDIATELY: 1. needs to include all the Halo games 2.needs to be able to morph into a sponge and clean my bathroom 3.this collection should be able to scavenge the woods for food for me and my family MAKE THESE IMPROVEMENTS CAPCOM AND I'LL CONSIDER BUYING YOUR "VIDEO GAME"... MAYBE!!1😤
Even after twenty-some-odd years, I still have to thank my cousin for putting me onto Street Fighter II back in 1992; otherwise, I would've never been big on the franchise as a whole (hey, I gotta start somewhere 😊). He's the reason I kept begging my momma to take me to my granny's place (may she RIP) to play it, and to get me an SNES for my birthday. And shouts out to my fellow Chun-Li players in the thread (though I admittedly started off with Blanka). Random side note: Pikachu makes an appearance at 21:20 in a documentary about SF. Adorable, but cool ☺
My first experience with street fighter was the special champion edition for sega genesis. I still love it and still play it. Been playing it lately on my genesis mini with the new official wireless 6 button controllers. Also have the 30th anniversary collection on Nintendo switch. So now I can directly compare the sega with the arcade that it was ported from. I also have the snes mini. I love comparing all the different ports. Also now I can use the sega 6 button controller on the Nintendo switch so that I can retain the wonderful controls from the sega !
I love this community it’s better then most other communities bc Now a days people are grinding like it’s a job but this community they have a favorite character no trash talk it’s simple
Okay, this may seem like an odd question, but... what's the font used in the subtitles before? I know I've seen it before, in a game I think, but I can't place it, and it's driving me nuts.
I like how everyone pronounces ryu wrong. I dont know why its difficult for people to say the name ryu but can seem to pronounce gyu fine. I would love to hear them pronounce the rest of the japanese alphabets like pya pyu gya
This documentary is not really a SF 30th documentary, it's more like a FGC 30th documentary... I think most of this should be about the innovation and development of SF1, 2, Alpha, and 3 and interviews with the people who contributed to the development of such legendary games. We've heard these kinds of stories from the FGC in many other ways already.
