Fyi, you can control the distance of the sand blast using the same movement but changing the attack but. There’s 3 different distances (not including the meter burn version) which shoots 2 sand blasts

Also the forward 2 heavy hits CAN cancel into specials lol. These may be different for you since you play Modern controls 🤔

I just started playing this game so idk how optimal this is but I found that u can jump🔴 into the assisted 🔵🔵then back sp (OD)cancel after the 2 hit animation is done into his level 2. Probably not new Tec but new to me. Thank you for sharing your combos it’s really helps

On classic Sand blast is down+forward and then any punch and on modern it’s “neutral special” (special while not moving forward or back)

Modern controls is dope, coming from someone that’s played street fighter casually since the first one in arcade. Emphasis on casually. Always played it. Never took it crazy seriously. But my characters were limited to people I could actually do moves for consistently. Charge characters and 360 move characters were always super difficult. I could get the moves but it was too inconsistent that it was a barrier stopping me from developing play style strategies with them. Modern controls lets me play characters I otherwise couldn’t play so I can learn their style and see if I actually like them and refine them. Then once I get in a good place in terms of play style and strategy, then I can lab harder and graduate to classic and get even more control and damage.

yes, this, exactly this! many many players are doing the same thing and feel the same way. myself included! im learning a character on modern that i really enjoy and then slowly moving over to classic. and its been a great journey!!

You can actually perform a lot of the classic inputs while using modern controls and it will do the full 100% damage! People on youtub have reached the highest ranks using just modern so it's definitely possible.

Does Luke have less damage than the others? I ask because I do combos of 5/6 attacks that do the same damage as any Ryu special

I mean it’s not necessarily less damage, but he’s a “vortex” character, kinda like scorpion in mortal Kombat, can do a lot of high hitting combos but doing a bit less damage than others. So you kinda need to work a bit harder and be a bit more aggressive to get the same damage output, also keep in mind modern controls give you 20% less damage on specials and super so if you fight an opponent using classic controls, it might seem they’re doing more damage per special and that’s cuz they are 😅

Sometimes when holding assist while doing a move does the opposite (kick to punch and punch to kick) try that, but also keep in mind, some characters are “Missing” a few moves compared to their classic counterpart. And for Luke light crouch kick might be one of em😅
