Taken from the the Stones last tour of the 60's and just prior to Altamont. This performance when released in the movie included footage of a DJ voiceover as well as behind the scenes at Altamont. In this version there is edited in different footage with partial overdub audio to make a complete performance. I have since uploaded another version with the full original audio : • Street Fighting Man |L...

The great thing about the Stones is that they’re not perfect … they don’t sound perfect … but I think this is what make them the best band on earth.

Mick always said the Beatles were the studio band, writing great music. So the stones set out to be a great live band. While Mick always wanted to deliver a great show for the fans, be recognized a live performance wouldn’t necessarily sound like a studio recording, which was fine. To their credit, the Stones still sound great, after all these decades.

Imagine how It was BIG to see The Stones at the time...their was no internet, no clip video, no MTV, they were making very rare interviews on TV and radio and were playing at the Ed Sullivan shows a couple of time a year...but there was no VHS to tape it...The only contact people have to a band back ten was to listenning their music on vinyl and watching some pictures on the vinyl and some rock magazines. I mean, I saw maybe 40 or 50 shows in my life...In a way, with modern technology I feel lucky to have access so easily to everything on the internet (songs, complete albums, live performance, clips, demos, interviews, alternate take etc.) but honestly being in the front row of a Stones concert in the 60's or 70's THAT WAS THE REAL SHIT !
@axiomist4488
@axiomist4488 4 года назад
I prefer the way it was before. You looked forward to the next album nd youd get all new pictures. Only way to get anything else would be in mags, but werent many mags in '66. At least I never saw them. Sometimes you could read a biography in paperback. I read one on the Stones. I savored every line. Now theres too much saturation and theres no thrill in getting the new album.

But at first we Stones fans were bummed when we got the news in June 1969 that Brian Jones was kicked out of the band, and that a new young guitarist named Mick (another "Mick"?!) Jones would die the next month. Taylor was taking Jones' place. No. We didn't like this development. Until we heard how much greater the Stone's next three records would be, largely as the result of Taylor's majestic playing. Now we wish Taylor was back with them.

Devastating news ths morning, as the radio guy said" it's a sad day as we remember Charlie Watts the Drummer of the Rolling Stones who has passed away overnight aged 80 " Charlie was a very talented Drummer, in a class of his own. One of the best and greatest Drummers. He was a very clever Graphic Artist as well. Charlie was a man of dignity and integrity. Faithful to his wife of 57 years, he never strayed. Apart from all of thiis, the best action he ever took was to punch Jagger in the face. " I'm not your Drummer boy, I'm The Rolling Stone's Drummer " Good onya Charlie!!

"The original Rolling Stones were so incredible thanks in large part to Brian Jones. After all, it was his band originally. He was a fantastically creative person. One of the last times I met him was during the sessions for the Beggars Banquet album; we sat in a circle on the studio floor. To my right was Keith Richards with an acoustic guitar, to my left was Charlie Watts with his antique miniature drum kit. Brian sat opposite me. We played big Moroccan drums with him while recording the basic track Street Fighting Man. This is one of the best memories I have in my life."--Dave Mason, British and American vocalist, guitarist, songwriter, musical producer.

TRUE Americans would be wise to pick up the torch as it were and run with the spirit of and,the message this song implies with the same vigor and determination displayed in the musicical performance by the Rolling Stones forever captured in this film.pure, unadulterated brilliance."Hey-say my name is called Disturbance.I shout,I scream I kill the king I rail at all his servants"....not shown here,but in the"ladies and gentlemen"documentary,you gotta love Keith's"if that cat don't Kool it-we're not gonna play"....thank God the cat kooled it...

Fun fact: When Keith Richards wrote this song the inspiration for the musical interval repeated over and over of a raised fourth in the guitar chords and the sung melody, is the same musical interval and tempo of a European police siren. It is the sound most commonly accompanying a street riot. Musical genius at work here. Once you know this fact you can not ignore it whenever you hear this song. ha ha ha ha ha ha ha

Charlie Watts wasn't your average time keeper and his drumming made all of the Rolling Stones Songs Great. The drummer man's a cat they call Kickin' McCoy I know you remember that rubber-legged boy? The band's on stage and it's one of those nights, oh yeah the drummer thinks that he is dynamite and he was, Charlie Watts RIP.

This is a prime example of why, although I’ve seen the Stones 6 times, all but one (75) in the 80’s onward, I prefer this version as opposed to the polished, massive soundstaged, over produced version that they continue to sell to. I want some grit…muddiness, garage band, foot stomping rawness. I know they are old and we cannot expect the same…I guess I wish in my heart of hearts they had quit while we still had that grit. But then I’m not in their shoes. The $$$, lifestyle and adoration are hard for them to only reflect upon

The Beatles evolved into a great recording band discovering new ways of putting music together and writing some pretty songs, but the Rolling Stones stayed a true band touring constantly and still touring despite losing two band members. I like their sound better than the Beatles and with their longevity are undoubtably the greatest band on earth. They represent true Rock and Roll.
