Mr Tony, as usual, superb. The attention to detail is amazing and your abilities to make, what looks like the most incredibly fiddly job, look dead easy. All made out of scrap or spare materials at hand. Its awe inspiring at times. I'd be turning the air so blue, you'd think a regiment of paratroopers were in the North Eastern pub. Great skills to watch. Thank you for sharing.
Great details Tony, the street lights are on my shopping list! For the LEDs , I've used phone charger-plugs. From phones that I no longer use/ have. Most are the correct voltage, etc. but obviously i check the specifications on the unit first. They work fine.

Morning Tony, glad you enjoyed the portsmouth show, like the Jones'es wagon. That was a bit of delicate work on the work platforms hopups but they look great. Agree with what you're saying about the fine cable on the lighting it took a while to get the knack but I'm OK now (mostly). Bit been happening with us here in Brixham, I'll tell you about it soon. Dear Tony, simply amazing all the stuff which comes out of your scrap box. Very interesting how you did the step ladders and hop-up. Nice little details for the several maintenance facilities on your layout. Even though the camera doesn’t do the street lights justice, as you said, the lighting definitely adds another dimension to the Yarrow Road station area. Love the way you showed the source of these street lights, the adapter you use to light ‘m up, the different paint scheme and the connection. The Yarrow Road constituency must have a blue background, pun intended! Cheerio
Good morning Vincent. I would to say that ideas were mine. but i had seen similar ladders on a layout at the exhibition. my input in the hop ups. which i have used in various factories. The thing is anything to do with OO gauge is getting expensive. while some HO items still seem to be reasonably priced. and the only difference is probably a couple of millimetres in height. so yes i would encourage everyone to shop around. |Its getting closer to moving onto the next thing. thanks again for commenting. cheer's for now Tony.
Haha, I see you were drawn in by the lure of the Cpl Jones special from Tom! I have loads of his wagons and I think they are all terrific. Always great to help the small independents like him. They add items of genuine quality and intrigue 😎 Those lights look really great mate and once you have several people around doing various things it will look amazing. And the ladder and step up are details you just don’t usually see on layouts. Jarrow Road is in danger of becoming my favourite station on your layout as it really has been a triumph of design and simplicity in harmony, and there is so much going on in such a relatively small space 🤓 Great stuff mate 🍀👍🍻😉

Hi Tony great you built these straight away, very effective, reminds me of the travelling library ladders. Well worth doing a few at a time and using up bits from the left overs box, adding figures brings it all to life. I found the same with HO lamps, better value for money and more choice. Can I suggest reducing your LED current halve or quarter it and see how it looks, looks a bit too bright - might be being exaggerated by the camera (I have seen LEDs life dramatically reduced when run too close to rated current - so I always design/ use well below so they last a life time) Take care. Good evening Stephen. its very true what you saying about the current levels of LEDs. i normal use a 3.3m ohm resisters on Leds. which do keep the current down. the camera does seem make the lights brighter than they are. but yes it is worth thinking about, especially as i will be redoing some of the lights in other areas as they are not bright enough. thanks again for commenting my friend. cheer's for now Tony
Hi Tony, well, another lovely mini build, i really enjoyed watching it for the detail it adds to scenes and the fact you made it out of a few scraps, right up my street! As for the lighting I really like them lamp posts, I’ve checked and they do them in N Gauge too so I think we’ll see some on Exehaven at some point. I’m hoping to get out there this week for some more track laying and I’m finishing up the buildings for the back scenes, but as usual getting the time is difficult. Cheers for now mate, John

Good morning Tony. Every episode of your RU-vid channel, in excess of 8 years worth, is a lesson to be taught. You can't put a monetary value on this because what you teach is invaluable and stretches across generations young and old. Thank you for this. Can you help with a question I have. The power supply is 24W, output=12V and amps is 2A. What kind of cable (bus wire) do you attach to it? And do you use the cable connection blocks to connect the 2? Cheers, Mike
Hi Mike. !2 volts supply or less is ideal for LEDS. as an average Leds draws 0,5 amps. cable size can vary but ideally 0.8mm or 1mm Diameter will do the job. cable can be expensive. i was lucky in my previous jab as i got some cable for free. bus bar's can be up 1.5mm in diameter. i hope this helps. cheer's Tony.
Thanks for the advice Tony. You are correct, I have a roll of bus wire from DCC Concepts and it is 1.5mm in diameter. Would you say that it is hood to use or, alternatively I have 0.2mm dropper wire (rolls of it) that could be used. Is the 0.2mm to light to use? Again thanks for the words of wisdom. Cheers, Mike

Might it not be an idea ot put the backscene onto the upper half of the handrail, that way you'd still have unrestricted acces to the road in front of the station, and from the layout I doubt youd be able to tell if the backscene was attached tot he basebord or the handrail when filming.
