Streets of Rage 2 Music Similarities 

This is why Streets Of Rage is the most 90's thing that ever 90'd and I love it.

Wow. Go Straight being a combo of so many songs really explains why it's the root. The SEED of my current music tastes in Synthwave and it's other forms.

So, if I am following correctly, everything = Go Straight!

This game's music is a synthesis of a lot of house dance music at the time. "Go Straight" is approximately "Bb-minor, F minor, Ab major, Ab minor, Bb major". If you change the transpose those chords up and down you'll get most of the rest of them.

I didn't realise how many songs actually use the same chords.

Alot of folks don't realize that SOR2's soundtrack were alot of samples from DJ David Morales, Steve Silk Hurley, Cj Mackintosh, Junior Vasquez, Frankie Knuckles , E-Smoove, & Masters At Work

Damn. “Go Straight” is like so many different songs! There’s probably more that aren’t even on this list, I love it!

This is what I call a 90s Dance Party with Streets of Rage 2 mixed in.

That's kind of how house music works. Riffs and rhythms are heard by DJs and its use evolves. Just look at the Amen Break.

It's 2020, and SoR is coming right back....I really appreciate the work put into this! Btw, just to add - The theme that plays during the text scroll before the intro is based on Enigma's "Sadness".

Just play the start of the 1990 Black Box Everybody song, it is so clear that 1992 SoR2 was influenced by it. Not sure why you chose the few seconds of time you did and included the singing. Also, there were much better parts of Wave 131 that show how much the game sampled Black Box Everybody. Again, I'm not sure why you chose a part that has a loud distracting noise drowning out the actual sample. When I first heard "black box everybody" in real life, i was like, "holy shit, SoR2 borrowed/sampled from this song so much." I swear the "black box everybody" sampling appears throughout the game a lot, maybe Wave 131 is played often in the game? Not sure. But unlike many of the songs on this list, if anyone hears Black Box Everybody and has played SoR2, they will immediately be reminded of the game. Black Box Everybody should have been given better treatment than just appearing at the end with bad examples and very few seconds.

Number 8 could also be Buddy by De La Soul

lmao go straight had 5 comparisions. The Good Life magic juan mix is the most accurate one though. The Childish Gambino comparison for Slow Moon was a nice surprise. You used the wrong version of Everybody, Everybody :o The one you use actually has an interlude towards the end that has a similarity to SoR 1, Stage 7 though.

There's a beat in the movie Shaft (2000) that takes inspiration from SOR too. Especially in the drums, sounds almost identical.

Yeah it's called a metronome get used to the sound and later came the sinadrome get used to that sound as well all the dance classics used those so the similarities are going to be consistent with a lot of songs from the 90's
