Q1. A plate b mm wide and t mm thick is joined with another plate by a double parallel fillet weld as shown in Fig. if the permissible tensile and shear stresses in the weld material are otw MPa and w MPa respectively and the permissible tensile stress in the plate material are otp MPa. Calculate the length Lı of single transverse fillet weld required to make the weld joint design safe, consider the joint first under static loading and then under fatigue loading.?b=99,t=13,L2=123, tensile Stresses for pleats =54n/mm^2,tensile Stresses for welding =75n/mm^2,shearing Stresses for welding=53n/mm^2

If the plats Ex, 1,are joined by double parallel fillets and the shear stress is not exceed 56 mpa. Find the length of weld (a).static loading (b) dynamic loading?? How to find...

As per diagram the parallel welding will resist by tensile force & transverse by shear force. we don't have any shear force in this case. so only parallel direction weld will resist the subjected tension force. contribution of transverse weld will be negligible in this case.

vansusaini - in video sir told parallel fillet weld have shear load while transverse fillet weld have tensile load, it is confusing, please elaborate clearly
