Thanks for the tutorial! I just made a paracord PS/2 cable for an old Cherry G80 keyboard. It turned out way nicer than I expected.

Hi from the previous video it has only 4 wires? In this video what happened? Why did u use a 5 pin jst?

Normal mouse cables have 5 wires of which one is a grounding wire for the shielding. Paracord cables don't have shielding so they only have 4 wires. It is possible to use a 4 pin jst but then you risk pluging it in wrong into the mouse because the mouse has 5 pins. With a 5 pin jst you can't plug it in wrong even if you use it with only 4 wires.

thx for the video, i paracorded my g403 almost a year ago following it and it worked fine... until today. seems like the cable was damaged inside the mouse, although i didn't see any visual signs of damage when i stripped the paracord. i'm pretty sure it was because the cable was sliding up and down at the stress relief point since the hole was very big vertically. i cut out the damaged part and spliced it with heatshrink and it works fine again. this time i added enough layers of heatshrink so that it doesn't move at all at the stress relief. soldering the wires to the crimps is kind of difficult as well, i would recommend a small conical tip and very little solder. if you flood the connectors with too much solder you won't be able to plug the crimps into the connectors since there's no space. also, i was wondering if there's a proper method to get the crimps into the jst connector, i found it super difficult to push them in even after prying the top clips up. the clip on top of the crimp was very tight

i had a similar issue with my paracorded g403 after only 4 months. No visible cable damage but the mouse started turning off when i did fast flicks with the paracord but not with the stock cable. I think The way the cable lays inside the mouse is bad for the fragile, thin wires. Its so crammed and if the stress relief isn't working perfectly the wires grind against the plastic that's supposed to hold the cable in place. I cut some of the plastic out with a knive so the cable can lay more freely inside the mouse, i improved the stress relief and i put some more cable in the mouse. This seems to have fixed the cable for now. I hope it won't break again because i don't own a soldering iron or a crimping tool

What do you mean by: it doesnt connect all the way to the pcb? is the stress relief positioned in a wrong way?

What would you recommend for the razer viper mini as it has the 90 degree bend.

sens for a stress relief, where the cable comes outside of the mouse.
@BuckstarrZ
@BuckstarrZ 3 года назад
@@EternalBeast97 He literally used a viper mini as example in this video. The cable is flexible enough to be bent around, you don't need a specific angled stress relief.
@EternalBeast97

BuckstarrZ got it, apologize. As I’ve seen some premade cables for the mini and they use some bracket as a stress relief, but if just the heatshrink is enough that’s good. Thank you,
@calonyoutube
@calonyoutube 3 года назад
@@EternalBeast97 It should work quite fine. A custom printed stress relief is optimal but this works really well too. It was the standard before 3d printed stress reliefs were a thing :)

why am I doing this instead of buying a model O wireless? zowie fk2 2014 edition is just too good of a mouse
@EcoAcid

Saying that "you can just TRY the combinations" is bad. Having the wires wrong can fry your mouse. Other than that, excellent video and series.
@calonyoutube
@calonyoutube 3 года назад
shouldn't be enough voltage for a fryage :> you are still right there is potential danger in doing it. Thank you :)
@EcoAcid
@EcoAcid 3 года назад
@@calonyoutube Only reason I said it was I ordered a new cable(generic paracord one) off Aliexpress and a number of the reviews said they plugged it in to their mouse w/o checking the order and after plugging in the USB, their mouse released smoke and stopped working.
