It's the BBC's biggest prime time Saturday night show, bursting onto our screens back in 2004
We've seen celebrities, sports stars and even politicians shimmy across the dancefloor, waltzing their way into our hearts and keeping us glued to the screen...
But - lately it's less known for it's sequins and more for the scandal behind the scenes
First up Pro Giovanni was accused of bullying by Sherlock star Amanda Abbington, which he denies.
Then - Reality star Zara McDermott opened up about her experince being paired with Grazziano Di Prima.
He's admitted to kicking his Zara during rehearsals last year.
Now today Paralympian Will Bailey, who was partnered with Janette Manrara, says a dance he was asked to do ruined his life after tearing a ligament.
Jeremy Vine on 5 is on television every weekday at 9:15am until 1:30pm on Channel 5.

Now herein lies the problem. People do not believe the pro's would bully anyone. But he did. He kicked Zara in training on purpose and there is video footage of it. He is only apologising for it now because the video has come out. Any form of bullying is unprofessional and out of order and Amanda is the one that complained to the BBC, even though others had gone through the same thing with him. She risked so much, but did it anyway because she is a decent human being. And the backlash was horrendous, especially the threats to her and her family. She knew it would be hard work and exhausting. She's not an idiot. But the way she was treated was unacceptable and that was why she complained. She was willing to put the work in, but was not willing to be treated in such an abusive way. We should be applauding her, not criticising her.

This discussion saddened me. To hear two of the contributors essentially victim shaming was disappointing as is to hear a parent say she wanted her daughter to go to dancing to be shouted at. That has to be the quickest way to turn a youngster off of it for life. The truth is the actions of Amanda and the others who have come forward will improve safe guarding for contestants and professionals. To hear women put other women down here for speaking up and that they ‘chose’ this and are ‘snowflakes’ is troubling. What message does this give young girls who may be watching and may be being abused by their instructors?Certainly not to speak up. Poor treatment of a serious issue.

This desperate dancer and her opionions, the celebs are not dancers do not want to be dancers just because she would do anything and accept anything to get on Strictly as she reminds constantly a trained dancer. Bet she was a bully at school, she cant even let the other lady speak, they should not expect it to be though 🙄

She is someone who was desperate to dance but hasn’t. Her views on what ballet teaching is is utter nonsense. Whether you’re trained or not, you don’t need to be tapped with a stick to learn something. It’s lazy teaching.

You can't make an omelette without cracking eggs. If you don't expect hard work, and a really hard competative regime - you shouldn't join. This whole episode was caused by a person who was looking after a disabled person - and then dancing with a pro who is by nature very competetive! The training is mentally and physically exhausting, and she should never have undertaken the competition. They pros want to win. They assume that the celebs want the same thing, so they train, and train hard. I honestly can't believe any of the pros would bully anyone unreasonably.

The lady in blue is living in the past and her past aspirations to be a dancer. No teacher worth their salt uses a stick to tap anyone, anywhere to get their point over. It’s lazy teaching. The big issue here is that Strictly clearly haven’t a had clearly laid out rules and regulations for their teaching practices. If this was all set out in stone with lines that mustn’t be crossed, everyone would know where they stand, dancers/choreographers and celebrities who are learning from them. It’s not rocket science. Have a contract in place which states what is expected from the dancers. Maybe some professional training in current teaching practices. It just needed to be transparent and clear from the start. It is the BBC’s mistake in their duty of care to both the dancers and the celebrities.

50 hrs of footage, allegedly. We will need to see ALL 50hrs to form a view. Even then the ''abuse'' might be ambiguous. As teachers will tell you some approaches are welcomed by some, seen as bullying by others. BBC probably needs to put ALL 50hrs on utube.

Training for Strictly is BOOT CAMP - not a walk in the park. A pity, I think, is that the comedy pairing is not there anymore. But let's not forget Rose and Giovanni - it was gruelling training and stamina on her part that helped them win in '21. Debbie McGee walked the Pyrenean path only a month before entering Strictly. She was fit, she was also a ballet dancer in her younger days. She too danced with Giovanni and she loved it! And they got to the final.
@johngalvin3124

I couldn't agree more, each year when they show the lineup I ask who are they? As Edwina said it is more often the professional athletes that progress well, It Takes Two, records the number of hours spent in training tie that in to those that do well. Lots of talk here about victim shaming, however the cameras are on these people throughout the rehersals, if the "Celebrity" feels that can't speak up for themselves, what about the people that trawl through all the footage to bring us rehersal highlights & best bits? If they see this happening why is it confined to the BBC coridors? Interesting that Abington had an interview on channel 4 just before she opened in a new play, her major complaint, 'he wasn't kind". I hate to use the word snowflake but...

I think SCD has needed a reset for many years. There is Craig croaking off to contestants about it being a “ dance competition darling” and Anton talking about it being “ entertainment “. It can of course be both , a dance competition to entertain. When it comes to expectations of contestants and the public they need to be clear . Some opinions are it’s a competition so get on with it as the “professionals reputation is at risk”..( I don’t buy that) or it’s entertainment with untrained adults doing their best. If it seriously is a competition then why are you recruiting the likes of John Serjeant and Anne Widdicombe to compete? Surely such partners are the kiss of death to the professionals! No….because it’s entertainment by people performing to the best of their abilities. All that bitching and barbing from some of the judges is pathetic. If the professional dancers, and judges have the mind set of the woman in blue and taught discipline through being shouted at etc then this maelstrom is the loutcome.
