This game had so many IDEAS! It's a shame that a lot of the mini-bosses and characters that this game is lush with die so easily. The setting and feel of this game was just so unique and wonderful.
That was the best part about it. Every level was brimming with crazy ideas, and all of them worked so well. It really felt like a fully realized world rather than a bunch of levels.
@IgaKoga i said the most influential in ideas to the future. across the videogame history beyond the arcade format, into pc and console platforms until now. every hack and slash until Sekiro, every action/adventure/platform game or the metroidvania genre, american/european pseudo RPG games explored things that appeared first here and ninja gaiden. the soul reaver from the eighties. obviously in 1992 SF2 was a massive cultural impact everywhere to the generation x and early millenials. helped to raise the consoles industry in the Nintendo-Sega war. then came mortal kombat, tekken, killer instinct, kof...but Strider came out 3 years before than SF2.
@@imwithstupid086 This game inspired a lot of big franchises including Dark Souls, Ninja Gaiden, Devil May Cry and God of War. Learn your history kiddo.
Fantastic classic game. Really got shoved out of the way by the beat em up influx of the early 1990's. Should've had a bigger and better sequel. Brilliant tone setting, during a time the world was at it's most curious of new Russia.
Why people love this game? I personally didnt like the sega genesis one. You cant control your jumps which always leads you to get damaged by enemies, level design is awful and gameplay is wanky and too simple. I finished the game, but it was too stressful and not enjoyable at all. I had to memorize all the spots where you cant get damaged and just run through the game like that. Trust me, there are much better games on sega genesis.
@@LaR536It's because they either grew up with the game or just appreciate what it's able to do at the time. The game hasn't aged the best but it's still fun if you get used to its clunkiness.
According to Tsurumi, the designer on Sega’s Spider-Man arcade game, the initial concept was a Strider like game where you could play as Spidey and Black Cat
Gotta admit, I never really understood why Hiryu landed on a whale at the end. I'm sure there's probably some deep symbolism to be taken away from that but I don't know what the fuck it is.
Fun Fact: The later release of the game has the correct musics for stage 3, 5 and the stage 5 cutscene. Which are not present in the early version (the one used here).
General Mikhail: **some Russian gibberish about why this RU-vid video has so many dislikes** Grandmaster Meio: Hum... those are the Striders. THEY WILL NEVER LEAVE EURASIA ALIVE! Solo: I got them.
I remember seeing this game beat by a guy when it was originally in the aracde at Westworld in Marina Del Rey CA on like to quarters. You had to be on another level back then. That joint cost 25 cents (64 cents inflation adjusted)to play and there was no home version to practice😅
man, oh man, did i spend way too many quarters on this arcade version prior to getting a sega genesis port. having crappily responding joysticks and buttons along with a hard difficulty setting had to make it a real moneymaker locally. I never could get past the second level on the arcade version. there was a good reason the coin acceptor door and coin box door were dented all the time. maybe we can blame those red commie trolls!
It seems many of versions of Strider repeat the Level 1 music for Level 3 (Battleship Ballog stage with the purple pirate at the end). Why is this? This video captures it: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-qVOOiCFktU4.htmlsi=EX1JWYgYDEYEhwfn&t=294
It's an immortal classic, a masterpiece. However it has its flaws. Almost all bosses are too easy and fast to defeat. The showdown with the bounty hunter Solo is pathetic, he is dispatched with very few hits. The fight should be longer and more difficult, dramatic. Also the final boss Meio is too weak. The mechanical panther following Strider is a very good idea but it's underused, it's almost non existent, very rare and pratically useless in the actual game
@IgaKoga - just because i can't do better, doesn't mean this one still doesn't suck about its sounds effects.. If it is like this, i would néver bê able tô notice or criticize or dislike something just because i can't do better than that, in something that is not even my specialty.. Yours is a Bullshit argument..
