Striking Oil for the Farm!
Today's video is a typical day in the life on our Montana farm in the winter. We hook up the 5th wheel and yes it has a flat tire we need to fix. You will go to town with us to get used oil that we recycle. The Cat skid steer has a big job to lift the shuttles of oil. You will see our favorite parts store too. I take you on a tour of our winter wheat fields. You will see the old homestead chicken coop, and bunk house. Our shop is where all the winter work gets done. That is where our trucks and equipment get worked on. We use our forklift to move the oil shuttles into our shop and fill our furnace. Black gold is running like a river!! There are beautiful mountain views and my dad explains how Square Butte was made from lava. The big sky in our part of Montana is beautiful too. I will show you our reservoir of water and one of our shelter belts. Thank you for watching!!!

My Story…
Hello. My name is Kate Stephens, and I am a 16-year-old 4th generation farmer. My family has been farming wheat in north-central Montana since my great grandfather immigrated from Denmark in 1912 and homesteaded our land. My family has been teaching me about farming since I was two years old. I run one of the combines on the farm at harvest. I believe that it is important for everyone to know where their food comes from and the families who produce it. I love our farm, and I hope that my Farm to Fashion and Farm to Table products can help educate people about where their food comes from in a fun way. That is how Kate's Ag became a reality. I hope you love my products as much as I do because this is an extension of our farm and the grains we have been growing to feed other families for over one hundred years.

One of the things that I am most impressed with besides your hard work ethic is how much you love and respect your Dad, Grandfather and Uncle! I try to work with my daughters as well but we do not work together like you get to work with your Dad... I think that is super cool! My wife and I homeschooled both our daughters so we actually spent quite a bit of time with them but I would have loved to be able to work with them like you do with your family! @@KatesAg I live in MI I have a friend who Moved to Woodworth SD .. Population 48 people not far off from I-90... I have two friends who moved to Harvey MT.. but one of them moved back to MI.. I was supposed to go out and meet the one friend .. She and her friens take a Train to A Ski Resort.. can't remember which one that was for sure.. Harve is famous for Manufacturing Big Red Tractors . and they are on the Canada Border.. I guess you are too far from Sturgis SD to fly over the Biker Rally and see 500,000 bikers / campers.. I think I will avoid that area.. sounds like a Rat Race to me..

We use all our truck, tractor & other equipment engine, hydraulic & other oils to heat our large shop as well. We usually burn most of it up each winter here in Wisconsin. With really cold winters, we may need to tap into our large LP tanks that we use to dry grain. Our furnace heats water which is circulated under the floor. It seems to do a much better job of keeping things warm. Take care & be safe.

We have chickens on our farm. My daughter is going to do a RU-vid channel too. I’d prefer she wait awhile, since she is only 12. That is a palace of a chicken coop! My goodness. Chickens are really great. I started my first business when I was nine selling eggs and I called it Kate's Eggs! LOL My mom got me a website and business cards and egg cartons. I sold a lot of eggs!! I think your daughter will be amazing!!! If we are driving through when we tour around I definitely want to stop and collaborate with her! The old chicken coop is super cool. Kate, enjoyed the video, it shows how much you enjoy filming, you do ah good job editing too. Thanks for the tours, you're fun to watch, and listen too. I did learn something new about wheat, and how it's grown, Thanks. Tell your Dad, he's ah lucky man, to have ah daughter like you, and you, ah lucky daughter to heave ah Dad so knowledgeable, and willing to share, with you. Kate your enthusiasm is intoxicating. Be careful throwing around those ratchet straps especially the big end they will get you. Your grain trailer is actually kind of tiny compared to mine . But that's still a handful to drive, good job. Your dad's a real mover and a Shaker with that operation and he trusts you with the clutch.

That's good useing used Oil to heat the Shop my Friend Bubby used to use oil in his oil burner Furnace

Another great video Kate. I never understood what exactly the oil was for. Motor oil for the tractors? Your father is an excellent forklift driver. He would make it working at any warehouse. Keep up the good work. God bless you.
