These both look absolutely stunning on you. I've been dreaming about a print like your dress. For the first time though, I don't think I will buy this pattern. I love ALL the details except the tie. For me, I carry most of my weight there and don't like the look of a tie there. But oh how pretty. Also, do you ever share where you buy fabric if it's online?

Lovely projects. Personally, I would prefer a less boxy-looking shoulder line but no idea how to modify that.
@LiftingPinsandNeedles
@LiftingPinsandNeedles 10 дней назад
I don’t know what you mean about boxy shoulder line. The shoulders fit the shoulder joint, they are not dropped or oversized at all. I would not call this boxy.
@susanstewart1402
@susanstewart1402 10 дней назад
@@LiftingPinsandNeedles I meant that the shoulder pokes up when you put your hand on your waist. I think tailors call the other type of shoulder a "natural" shoulder, whereas this design looks like it was meant to accommodate a shoulder pad. The natural shoulder has a slope to the shoulder line and sometimes a slight extension to the end of the shoulder.
@LiftingPinsandNeedles
@LiftingPinsandNeedles 10 дней назад
@@susanstewart1402 I think it’s more to do with the super structured linen/cotton fabric choice. It almost stands up on its own :)
@susanstewart1402
@susanstewart1402 10 дней назад
@@LiftingPinsandNeedles I think you are right about this. I have noticed that the natural shoulder line is favoured by manufacturers using linen.

Why did you serge the edges of the ties before sewing? They’re enclosed seams, so I’m confused? Maybe I missed the explanation.

Beautiful makes! Question: Do you think it would add too much bulk to the waist seam if I extended the inseam pocket to attach at the waist? I’m wondering if there would be too much bulk when the bodice is tied
@LiftingPinsandNeedles
@LiftingPinsandNeedles 6 дней назад
The bodice seam on the front is not straight, it’s curved for the tie detail, so a pocket to fit that shape would be totally different and would be bulky there at the seam, along with the tie. Lots of reasons to not have a pocket that’s anchored this time.
@tinasuarez
@tinasuarez 10 дней назад
I usually cut the same size as you. How much fabric approximately do you think the top version was? Short sleeve. The reason I’m asking is I have some Japanese cotton left over from a previous project but I don’t think it’s enough. Not sure. I can make the inside yoke out of a different fabric. Do you think it would be weird for the back of the ties to be in a very different but kind of coordinating fabric? Like different patterns in the same color pallet? lol. I’m reaching, I know. Thanks!

Did you use 3.4 metres for your dress it is very fabric hungry. Could do yoke in different fabric and under collar and short sleeves no cuffs and no pockets?

The pockets are optional and so is the cuff on the sleeve. Yes you can use something different for the under collar and the yoke.

@dale3404 9 дней назад
Since this pattern has a waistline seam, couldn’t you alter your pocket piece so it can be sewn into that seam, just as you would a pocket for pants?
