Cute quilt and a great way to use up those jelly roll strips you have left over. If you find that the strip with corner stones is a little loose in between the corner stones, when sewing on put that strip on the bottom and the dog feeds will take up that little slack.

Oh man I wish I had viewed this a year ago when as a beginner I made a Bargello! Yikes! Finished it and my grandson loves it and will never care that a lot of those points aren't perfect. Your tip about pinning first where it counts and working and pinning the rest in between later would have saved me some angst, haha...now that I know I will make another one! Thank you!

I appreciate the tip to iron toward the sashing. This alleviates wondering which way to press on each row so that the seams line up each time. I often have to look under the last row to see which way to press the next row so this tip saves time.

So glad you enjoyed that tip! It really is helpful, since pressing seams matters, and can get confusing. - Morgan

If you press towards the sashing, which is white, doesn't the seam allowance show through? This has happened on a quilt that I am making, where the seam is showing through the white fabric...thanks!
@ShabbyFabrics
@ShabbyFabrics 5 лет назад
In this sample we did using these fabric shown it did not show through. However, I was able to run this by one of our specialists and she did confirm it would ultimately depend on the fabric that is being used. The thicker the fabric the less likely it is to show through, but if you have a thinner fabric it is more likely to show through. If you have any further questions please let me know as I am always happy to help! -Kyla

@@ShabbyFabrics Every other quilting channel says to turn seams away from light fabrics, you don't explain in detail how the dark cubes are inserted into to the white edging sections, you skip quite alot of the sewing, and hey presto the quilt is finished! People new to quilting, like me, watch to learn from the experts. In England we do not have shops full of quilting materials, and expert tutorials.

We've got a great Beginner Quilting Series that goes into detail about all of the basics that you can watch here: ru-vid.com/group/PL-nal4iMTUJtkvy_qcZwUcVsjDxvhVBwL The free pattern included shows you exactly how to add the sashing sections (the white strips and the blue squares) and it's just basic piecing (sewing the blue square to a white strip, across the quilt. Download the pattern here to see the detailed written instructions and color guides: www.shabbyfabrics.com/Assets/Downloads/BoxedInColorCalypso_forDownload.pdf We always recommend starting with the beginner quilting series because we can't cover all of the basics in every video or they'd get quite long. We will always be happy to answer questions in the comments under videos (we try to answer all of the specifics when we film the video, but questions do still arise), and we'll use your feedback to improve future videos. We hope that helps, we know learning can be overwhelming, but we're here to help you through it! - Morgan

How to you make the strip with the corner stones
@ShabbyFabrics
@ShabbyFabrics 5 лет назад
That's just going to be six 2.5" squares and five 2 1/2” x 9 1/2” strips sewing together as sashing. You'll make 4 of the dark blue sashing strips and 3 of the light blue sashing strips. The free download shows you how to lay that all out and gives you all the measurements. You can find that directly here: www.shabbyfabrics.com/Assets/Downloads/BoxedInColorCalypso_forDownload.pdf Let me know if you have any other questions! -Morgan
