If you would like to keep up with exactly where we are fishing and would like to text me anytime with unlimited questions or recommendations please sign up to my PATREON in the description. You can choose several different memberships for these perks, but I understand that times are tough for many people right now. If you select the FREE membership option and send me a message, I will be happy to give you these perks for free, including my personal cell number. I certainly don’t know EVERYTHING about Striper fishing, but I’m happy to share what I DO know. For those paying for the higher memberships I can never thank you enough for your generosity. Producing these videos can require massive expenses over time. I could never continue at this rate without your help. Thank you! 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏❤️

@MikeSmedleyOLDSCHOOLSTRIPER I used a 1/16 oz crappie jig with a white grub and trophy bass by procure. Then I used a fly snap big mistake. A 24 plus inch beautiful striper hit the rig and broke the fly snap also lost a big smallie on 1. The striper came up rolled on its back and broke the fly snap. I had the big striper hooked and lost him. I still ended catching descent smallies. I down sized my line so the striper won't break it. I also have drag loose so all fish can run with the lure with no restrictions. I now use an 8lb line instead of 12 or 14 lines. Big fish has been hitting the small lures big time. It's not a fight for them to get the rig to eat.

Your techniques have helped me catch hybrid bass on my home lake. I hope one day to be able to take a trip and apply what i learned catching hybrids, to catching a true striper. The nearest body of water to me, that is known for having stripers is Cumberland.

Thanks Mike. Appreciate the videos. - Is there any really good way of determining Asian Carp vs Stripes on the side scan? (Other than sitting around a bunch of bait fish). Referring to about 20ft flats out in main lake of reservoir.

Brief summary: This is a compilation of freshwater fishing videos that Mike has shot over the past 15 years or so on RU-vid, all rolled into one video. There may be some new content that was edited out of the previous videos, I'm not sure. Some of it was videos I've seen many times, some was videos I'd forgotten about, or maybe I missed altogether. Mike covers (at least) the following techniques: trolling live bait behind planer boards, drifting live bait on down lines, anchoring and fishing live bait on fishfinder rigs, jigging artificial lures for fish in open water, and trolling artificial lures in creek channels. These techniques are used in various lakes at all different times of year. There is some content on catching live bait. It's interesting to see the changes in boats, from 150hp, to 250hp, to 350hp, and the improving videography skills as time goes on. As far as I can tell, the sequence of videos is neither chronological in terms of when it was filmed, nor grouped by technique or time of year, so the quality of the footage does jump around some from clip to clip. Mike, thanks for putting this together. I've struggled over several years with very spotty freshwater striper fishing success, and many days that were total blanks. Watching your videos gives me confidence to keep trying, and I know I'll get there. One minor critique: chapter divisions would be nice if someone was saving this video and wanted to refer back to a certain technique without re-watching the entire thing, and without having to scroll through to find the clip of interest.

GREAT STUFF BROTHER!!! I really appreciate that! Good idea on chapters, I’ll definitely do that. I did the random order so people wouldn’t have to watch several videos of similar techniques in a row and maybe get discouraged thinking their preferred methods aren’t there. Thanks again brother!!!🙏🙏🙏

One beneficial supplemental material to mikes videos are the Striped Bass research papers (usually done by universities) that have trackers on the bass. There are at least two publicly available on the internet. You can take the time of the year and marks on the map, check topo, and then cross reference it to your lake. You really start to get some true hard facts of how they move throughout the reservoir at what times of the year. Also maybe some hot spots they stop along the way during their migration that you can make sense of. I’m grinding it out on a lake where there are supposedly very few striped bass, so few that I feel like I’m the only one fishing them. Charters angry when I roll up to cleaning station when they already told their clients that striped bass don’t exist in our lake.

Lake Nockamixon and the lake at Beltzville State Park are also good for Stripers in SE PA. The Delaware River has a spawning run of saltwater Stripers in late April through June. Raystown Lake in Huntington County, PA is also good. Thank you for your videos! I'm learning!

Another great video. Not sure who will read this or if it will even help but this channel and his patreon is loaded with good info. I don't know Mike and his crew personally but I can tell you that he really knows his stuff, is generous with his knowledge and loves his followers. If you're able to join his patreon then please do it. In my opinion it's the least we can do to repay his crew for sharing his info with us. It would take multiple, multiple charter trips to get this knowledge that he shares freely. Striper King thanks for all you do, we appreciate you brother!

@MikeSmedleyOLDSCHOOLSTRIPERS 4 месяца назад
I have fished Cherokee many times in the NSBA days. I like that lake a lot. Excellent numbers of teenager fish. We have had several good finishes there. 2 National Championships in a row were held there in the early 2000’s. German creek and the creek to the left of it (I think Ray creek was the name) were our best spots. Do you fish it much?

Yes I have a camper on Cherokee lake at Gilmore but I have fish German Creek before you get to the creek where the power lines go across the lake right past the bridge I'm trying to learn how to catch bait with that net I'm watching your videos I have heard me and my buddy 8 inch spoon we are going to try those in the deeper water as it warms up

Yeah man!! I wanted to have all of them in one place so they can be found easily. Freshwater Striper fishing is very unusual in the sense that they behave nearly the same on one lake and another that’s 1000 miles away. Although I tell people that, I don’t think they believe me😂 so that’s why I covered 7 different lakes. Thanks for your support brother!! It’s really priceless!

Wow Mike you’re not kidding about giving it all all most 5 hours,incredible and I look forward to watching all of it. I know you have the XI5 I have the same motor and I just put on the Katana Prop and there’s a big difference in power my Aluminum boat before would go 4.1-4.3 and now my best speed is 5.1 well worth the investment,thank you for all you Mike ❤
@MikeSmedleyOLDSCHOOLSTRIPERS
@MikeSmedleyOLDSCHOOLSTRIPERS 4 месяца назад
Wow!! That’s a huge difference!! You must have had torque to spare. That’s super interesting!! I spoke to someone at Minn K many years ago. I told them that my boats top speed was the same with a 100lb thrust OR a 55lb. They said that’s normal as thrust doesn’t mean anything when it comes to speed. I then asked about them offering multiple propellers if that’s true, because if I have a surplus of available torque let’s use it with a higher pitched prop. 🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️They had nothing to say. Looks like you did it yourself!!!!! Awesome! Thanks for the info!!🙏🙏

@kenmccarthyfishing 😂😂 BRO!! That was actually a real problem for a while. With the motor randomly turned to the side, when fired up from 0 to 10 it was ripping those nylon mount plates RIGHT off the boat! Quite a few guys went right over the side. It was the luck of the draw depending on what direction it was aimed. 🤣
