This week we went to the spillway in Perry Lake to do some striper fishing. Update, No size limit in spillway, but LIMIT 5 per person. Bait Used: Shiner Swimbait Tennessee Shad with 1/2 oz Round Jig Head
arcticcatkickass No, this week is bad as it is around the full moon phase. Things should pick up in a few weeks. Please remember to bring heavy duty tackle as the fish can go up to 50 lbs with heavy current.
The fish do not come out with the full moon!? Huh that explains why i wasnt catching shit out in the full moon on the salosbury jetty. Wow thanks for the info! Boy would i love to catch a big striper
We fish the jersey shore here for stripers my favorite fish this is a beautiful spot y'all was killing it I'd love to come fish this spillway its heaven loved this. #fishon
Wow this place has striper written all over it. Nice catches guys. We fish similar spillways/dams here in oklahoma too. What is the average size there?
20 minutes away from where I live see you in the morning. The biggest fish I ever fought was right there, he broke my rod shreaded the gears in my reel, I rapped the string a round my coat and arm and he pulled me to the edge, I cut the line and said more power to ypu brother I'll be back.
They look more like hybrid white bass and stripers. Stripers where I fish aren't considered big until they get over 20 lbs and 30 to 40 pounders out of fresh water lakes isn't unusual. They are great eating fish whatever the species.
I fished it early July. Night fish. Caught a few stripers and a huge gar. My cousins caught a few nice walleyes. I went down the Rocky side opposite of the parking lot. My fat ass almost fall a couple of times.
When we lived nearby we used to catch lots of Wipers and stripers off the rocks at spillway below the Ross Barnett Reservoir near Jackson, MS. We always released the stripers but kept and ate some wipers. They were all much larger than the ones in this video. They would sometimes strip all the line off our reels and escape.

We can get 2 per day here in Tennessee, and they must be 15 inches to keep. It looks like the limit is 2 at the spillway in this video also. Notice how the guy in the blue shorts catches 2 then leaves and comes back? He's probably taking those 2 fish and hiding them in a cooler in his vehicle. Then coming back to catch more. At one point in the video you hear the guy with the camera say, "so the limit here is two?" I hate when people over harvest fish. It depletes the stock and eventually they lower the limit. Just like what's happening on the east coast with striper fishing.
where is this place? in what state? did you guys check if these stripe bass have mercury. here in the state of California, most stripe bass have some mercury in them.
We always catch something especially in the spillway if they let the water out u guarantee catch somethin. We ask around lot of friends who love to fish what place is biting before we go.
I stood right beside my friend in Northern New York when he caught a 48” Northern Pike - one month before the season opened. “Wanna guess if it went back in the water?” No.... No Game Warden - No rules..
Where I'm from we can catch 5 and they have to be at least 21 inches at our spillway but on our lake we can catch 10 lake gwd sc our spillway down by Chappell sc going towards Newberry sc
I dont know what state you are in but I know it is illegal to keep some those fish. This is the very reason why we have so many regulations on fishing now
the first fish that was caught was not a nice one that was what we call a skoolie up here in Massachusetts the minimum length to keep over here is 28 in but there's been some fish close to 60 in that have been caught this year and a little bit over 60 in you should come up here with striped fishing is very good in our state is known for striper fishing
