Jon and Mercedes remind me so much of me and my husband and we've been married 37 years! (We married young.) So, it ain't easy a lot of the time, but it's possible! LOL
Love you two! Karl and I just celebrated 59 years of marriage. We grew up together. We made it for 3 months in less than your 150sf but Thunder Canyon was the reason it worked. We loved it!
It may be my age, but I'm with John. A place for everything, and everything in its place. Don't touch my stuff!! AND, after 57 years, I still eat Jif peanut butter, Kraft Mac&Cheese with ground beef, and Chef Boyardee Ravioli. There is no need to buy anything else.
I was living eith my husband in an RV for 6 years full time and we enjoyed it very much. He had his chores (the outside and mechanical) while the inside was my domaine. He had his closets/cubbards and drawers and I had mine and we kept those the way we wanted. There was some reorganizing at the beginning, as you get more practical/simple after a while. These where the best years of our lives together!
I quickly learned Pat couldn't guide my backing up so a camera was added and it's my job entirely now. The other bigggie is each "owns" areas and compartments. We don't question the other what you pack in them and we don't touch the "other's stuff" in them. If we need something from the other we just ask. Beside our individual storage spots, Pat "owns" the kitchen and bathroom and I "own" the outside compartments. Turf wars long ago settled! :)
Hilarious! We were rolling on the floor laughing & Allyson had tears because we saw ourselves. Except the walky talkies worked out well for us! RVing did help us to learn to work as a team! P.S. Allyson agrees with Mercedes that organization is fluid...it can always be improved! 😂 We love you guys!
Great video and soooooo true in many cases. The key is “get humble” and “accept each other as your help mate”. We been married 50 years and been full time now 4 years. It’s a growing experience but I can’t imagine doing it with anyone else. Accept each others opinion and their help (even when they are double checking) LOL

I truly get a thrill when I put a meal together that makes her smile, and always will. We have not started the full-time journey yet but with you two as coaches, well, we'll see! OMG, does this all sound familiar! Glad to know we aren't the only ones! Drives me crazy when my wife decides it's time to reorganize everything! I ask, what happened to the doohickie, and she says, "Oh, I moved it, but I don't remember where..."! GRRRRR! 43 years of marriage here and still going. Beth and I are a lot like you 2. The scissors and reading glasses have a spot. When I need them, I expect them to be there. It drives me nuts to open the scissor drawer and there are no scissors there!!! Well, Beth decided that there is a better place to put them, and that place is where she used them last. Beth is an organizer too. Life is a great journey. We are different, but fit together perfectly imperfect. We miss you guys. We are going to try to make it to Thunder Canyon next month.

John, we have been happily married most of the 52 years we have been together. I think IRISH SPRING could have changed all that. My wife says Irish Spring is good for discouraging mice in the camper. Not intended for the body. I remember liking Irish Spring but I am sure it's a good thing I moved on to different soaps. We are hoping to make it to Thunder Canyon this summer. Love you guys.
LOL- I am the planner and my husband is the spontaneous one. After 15 years of marriage- I can say the first thing I realized was that he brought joy into my life and I stopped being so serious all of the time. Now we have figured out how to balance these things. I do buy him the products he likes and do not change them without asking him first (when it comes to his personal items). Even when not traveling- I do shopping and admin- he does outside and mechanical. Life is good :)
I'm 52, and live fulltime in my RV alone. Even though I'm fairly new at this, doing everything by myself can get old and lonely. So I appreciate ya'll sharing your experience. Made me smile several times. God bless.

Really appreciate you guys. My wife tries to help me backing into a spot but she hides in a place I can't see her. I finally got her to understand that if she can't see me I can't see her. The other thing that would bug me is her need to bring stuff we really don't need. That got somewhat solved when we purchased a new RV and had to unload stuff from the old to put in the new. There were things in the old we hadn't touched in five years! I convinced her that if we hadn't touched it in five years we didn't need to carry it around. We had a few arguments but never disrespected one another and never went to bed argry. In 50 years following those guidelines has served us well. Stay safe and enjoy the rest of your journey.

I’ve been married for 12 years and I completely agree with John. Leave my stuff alone and I like things left alone and we get along and it’s not an issue with us. Mind you we don’t live in an RV and love our space.

I said noway! My husband will open a new bar & not throw out the old....Hello...there's no room for a second bar of Irish Spring! How else do we clean the bathroom countertop with toiletries laying all-over 😊 I'm a constant organizer, too. I don't like 15 small kitchen appliances all over my counter tops...it's just looks too cluttered. And because it's such a small space, I try to stay organized. And I find that the longer we stay in one location, the more cluttered it gets. Thanks for sharing this video...we can definitely relate.

Marriage is tough under normal circumstances, and even more so in the small space if an RV. We've had many dips and peaks, but there is no one I'd rather be doing it with than my wife. And we are approaching 40 years here in about 10 days.

It’s not that I forget where it goes or is rather my wife has decided the original place she determined it belonged is no longer the correct location. Amazingly, she gets amnesia and pretends nothing has changed.

Love you two!!! You know us, you had MY John & I cracking up so much!!! Our thoughts: 1) “driving you crazy John” (?) SHORT TRIP is all we have to say😂 2) Irish Spring(?) I would throw it out 🤷♀️ hate the smell, hate the chemicals! The only time I use Irish Spring is in a net bag out by the chickens to ward off FLYS… and IT works😂 3) Mercedes, I too HATE gravy🤔you are not alone sister! 4) moving stuff…. We have to have the place organized AND if you have young kids, things have to be out if their reach💁🏻♀️ 5) Backing up… it took a bit to work it out… walkie talkies with clear directions that we both agreed on is the best! (Butt left, butt right) even taught the 4 kids that! We started RVing in ‘93 with a class C, In 2000 graduated to a 36’ TT when the 4th kids came along. Downsized to a 26’ TT (our sweet spot). The best advice from us: “Don’t lose sight of each other’s heart” after 43 years of marriage we are pretty comfortable in our lanes… but sometimes we might weave a bit into the other’s.❤️😏❤️
walkie talkies and back up cameras for us, thank you. But even more important is to end travel days well before we get tired. Tired travel days means rushing and becoming careless. We learned this the hard way, a couple of times.

There's plenty of room for him to get by! 😅 I'm so like Mercedes, like to organize, reorganize, and organize the reorganization. And planned spontaneity is great! It's biblical, a time for routine, a time for planned spontaneity (it's gotta be in there somewhere!). But i really liked the discussion on using one soap for your entire lifetime. So funny!

This is us when we RV for the weekend. My wife empties the cabinets first thing in the morning. Now everything is different from the last time we camped and I have to relearn where things are. BTW, I’m enjoying the heck out of this video 😂.
We were blessed in that we never had the problem. The worst was the years we traveled with our teenagers. The only time there were conflicts between my late husband and me was when Alzheimer's entered our lives. He did less and less as i had to do more and more. Now i have to do it all.
It's okay, I refer to our house as the "mighty morphing house", because you will never see it the same twice. We have had our biggest fights over cooking. I do most of the cooking, and meat sauce became the point of contention. Now, I just do it all. Happy.
I'm like John because I like my brands of toiletries, clothes, food and everything else. I have my house organized just the way I like it and rarely change it up. It might be our age. I'm closer to John's age. Y'all are just so cute!
Finally someone telling it like it is. I asked another FT Van couple how they deal with it in such a tiny space and they replied it's all peaches and cream. Yeah, right LOL.
OMG! My husband and I drove the Alcan highway to Alaska last year and, well, we had moments🙂 But, now we are coordinated pros! And John putting the screw in the fruit bowl is so relatable! And the planned spontinaity things! You know it! Ha ha. Thanks guys! This is one of your best! Prayer is the answer.
This was a good one!! It is so good to see you guys having fun again. Lots of good information packed in a fun package here. And by the way, I do agree with John on most of this, things have their place and I like what I like. Although, as I have gotten older, I do try new things more often. But some things you just don't mess with like peanut butter and shampoo!! Never tried this for extended periods in the RV and at the rate we are going now, we might never be able to do that; but, that is OK. God has been so good to us in our almost 47 years of marriage so, until He allows things to change, we will figure out how to arrange things in our much smaller RV, plan and cancel trips and just enjoy all of our blessings, which we do not deserve! Oh yikes, starting off with my #1 trigger with my wife. Backing up the RV. I have figured out that no matter how many times I show her hand signals and tell her to be intentional with them she won't listen. Then she gets frustrated because I don't move fast enough. I just began to tell her she doesn't need to get out unless I ask her and I just park it myself getting out every few feet to look at things. The worst IS the backup camera. I put one on and she tries to direct me from right behind the RV in the cameras blind spot ans the camera times out and she wonders why that's a problem and argues with me about it when I tell her if you can't see my mirror I can't see you. And tell her NOT to stand behind the RV or she is going to get run over and I won't know I did it until it's too late.
They start prepping you for this kind of treatment during the engagement period. And that's the reason that I've been through 3 different fiances in my life. None of them ever made it closer than 6 months to the wedding. It was all the changes they were telling me I was going to have to make. And my answer was always don't let the door hit you on the way out.
My wife never sits down during the day from 8am to 8pm she is constantly up and working on something….sounds great right but can be super annoying sometimes…she constantly comes behind me picking up things moving things…I can be in the middle of a project step away for a minute come back everything is picked up 😡😡 btw been married 40yrs😂😂 she is the best!!
My late husband & I did very well but we weren't full time. Now that he's passed I am full time. I miss not having a travel partner, but there is a lot to be said for getting a lot of me time. Someone reorganizing things constantly would drive me crazy! I had a boss that did that and when you work in a kitchen and you need an item & can't find it while a customer is waiting it is hard to keep your cool.

love you both, I live in Canada, but I can't afford a RV, but I got a e-bike instead and love camping, getting out of the city and see if I can survive in the deep woods. I bought a life straw, and a miniature propane stove. To morrow I am meeting with my pastor and we are going to make a miniature wood stove out of used cans. Keep up with the videos and I will keep watching.
