This was a really good video. That's also probably very sound advice about knowing your limits when it comes to your work brain complicating dealing with family. Whilst you were talking about it in a medic context, it certainly transfers to other professions as well.

You are killing it Ezgi.. let me tell you I follow you for not only medical purposes but also as a fellow mamma.. my little girl is 3+ months old now. So keep doing what you are doing, I’m following you 😃😃😍😍 Other thing, I hope people stop judging doctor/medical professional mothers. Sometimes, you know something is wrong with your baby by your judgment, Hospital/GP thinks you are overreacting 😑😑

Ezgi, you are such an incredible mom. You are doing awesome. You seem like you might be a little paranoid about the neighborhood but with the experience of the grow op next door, I can understand. But if your hypervigilance keeps up it might be worth talking to a professional. Just to get a better perspective.

Thank you so much! I have been doing much better with the paranoia but will definitely seek advice if I'm still feeling the same in a few months

I am so glad I am not the only one scared of spiders I run a mile and always get my partner especially when I’m at his house and I had one in my room a few weeks ago and I think the spider knew it was going to get sucked up and I spoken to my mum for 5 minutes it disappeared and it hasn’t come back since 😂 It made me laugh that Serdal was like where 😂 hope the children are feeling a bit better now though take care all of you x

I know I'm definitely not alone with my fear of spiders XD. Honestly Serdal doesn't notice anything and gets annoyed at me for the same thing! LOL Ella is definitely a lot brighter but it was a tough week, glad we are over it but also means another viruses is likely waiting to hit

Hi Ezgi, I am also a doctor in training in UK and thinking about starting a family. I wanted to ask if you are allowed to take paid days off in the NHS if your child is sick? Does it come under compassionate or sick leave allowance of 14 days /year
@DrEzgiOzcan
@DrEzgiOzcan Год назад
Hi! You know that’s not a question I know the answer to :( I was lucky that my mum was looking after Ella so she could take her on even though she was ill. I do remember hearing from my colleagues that we are allowed a few days is sick leave for childcare purposes but I don’t know the exact details
@currycurry14
@currycurry14 Год назад
From my understanding, I had compassionate leave when I was GP training but when I qualified and joined in the GP practice, there was no such leave. I was told to work from home etc. which wasn't any easier so needed to get last minute care from family.

This is so full of real life help and reassuring for non mrdical parents to know medical staff face same issues with worries re children and balancing life and yep greasy hair and PJ OK and partners listen when the other says do not look, touch or breath near me I am a Hedgehog take as they have reached limit just make a cupp and retreat. When babies born everyone wants to bring gift and visit while lovely often overwhelming. I started when I had my daughter and found myself few months in feeling totally exhausted but did not want to ask for help as hey I was meant to be on top of things and as nurse this should be a breeze lol. I gave all friends after that a small gift and a handmade Red Flag Voucher so on those awful days they could wave the Red Flag. I would ask what do you need it was a variety of requests from home cooked meal, 1 hour to watch kids so they could have a bath, help with washing, doing dishes simple things that made at that time a difference if I was not able to do would check if OK to reach out to family friend circle and go this person needs whatever who can do we all helped each other. As a friend to new parents if your cooking a 1 pot meal, soup double amount drop off with new parents it opens doir for them to ask if needing help and you to offer that first ask is hard. Remmber as children get older will bring new struggles my daughter tested me instead of asking Why would go please explain Arghh triggers me almost 31 years later I so relate to self diagnosis or sitting on issue I do that with myself all the time it is playing with fire do not do it if as medical/nursing background you think you would have been glad patient came in that is note to self go get outside advice. Lastly as your children become adults the worry will be different but as I have had this weekend remmber the strength you had those early days/years and step in and advocate for them if needed. My daughter went on Thursday for "routine" surgery should have taken 2 hours in for 12 hours then in recovery for 5hrs until ITU bed free. Within 24hrs back in surgery another 9 hours 4 in recovery she is unable to ask questions her husband no medical background and overwhelmed. That Mama Bear you have when they are tiny never leaves. I have been asking questions and supporting. I worked many years in nights, and told family call if your awake and worried it is OK and I comforted them when they called. I sat for 3 hours overnight instinct screaming to call ward but head going ward will call you if anything wrong until I listened to advice I used to give and called just to hear she was breathing and stable which I knew but needed to hear enough to open floodgates to tears I have been holding in so at anypoint it is OK to say I need help. Hope little ones are improving and not passed bugs to you. Remmber your doing well if you meet their needs and get a hot drink. As for crawly bugs yuck 🥰

@@DrEzgiOzcan TQ I have 1 very unwell daughter but baby steps will get us thro I hope. You hold the thoughts on those really hard days your openness and honesty of real life as effective as when you are working as a GP. On social media so many present the perfect life which we know is not reality but done for the camera and parents do not tell others how life really is in fear they will be judged or seen as failures. Parenting hard but wonderful each stage different and times a stage feels, endless but looking back you go wow that was hard but fantastic lol a bit like Labour. You all take care x
