Congrats everyone at Strymon. The current BS has been around a long while so I figured it would be getting an update sooner or later. But I currently have no real desire to replace my original BS as it's still great, but this is a worthy update and will no doubt get this MX one at some point in the future. Well described features demo too for a short video. I see there are deep-dives videos you released too, so the geeky among us can go explore the MX modes in depth! 👍
They just made a v2. Doubtful they would already be planning a v3. That said, it would be interesting to see a Volante-size box with all of the "old" features on it, like a combo Deco and Flint. I would say somehow incorporate a Lex circuit (just the mod, not the drive) as well, but that would be one crowded circuit board. With how popular the Deco and Flint are, it would probably sell well. Call it the Encino or something, going with both the SoCal reference and the caveman (old) reference.
Speaking of which, I'm surprised they kept with this same box style, and didn't migrate to the new big box style like the Volante and NightSky? If a big box Iridium is ever made, hopefully it will be in the new-style box.
6:39 that’s something I’ve always struggled with using other reverbs outside of Strymon!! As far as I’m aware every other brand of reverb (and I’ve owned a lot) have refractions that resonate more or less depending on what notes are played. Making it an unbalanced sound.
3:29 why is it so hard to get an answer from someone at Strymon on how many IR's the pedal can hold? No one seems to know and I've been asking support and on instagram and facebook etc.. Never no answer!
I imagine there are 2 or 3 mafia hitmen pointing guns at them. That is how they talk.

Is there any way that I can use the right switch to turn on the “C” sound, or does it work only as freeze fuction? On my old Big Sky I use all the three switches and it would be a shame to lose one. This one sounds incredible anyway.
tbh, mobius would urgently need an overhaul, there is so much more potential in there. Especially in the vibe, chorus and pitch mod department strymon has some catch up to do
That's exactly what I want. There are only 2 choices out there right now, Tasty Chips which doesn't do MIDI and Poly Verbs which can only load 8 user IRs.
Thanks for this question and sorry for the late reply. There is not a dedicated modulation rate control, but rate is sometimes affected when turning up the Mod knob, depending on which reverb machine is selected. For instance, with the MX Shimmer voice, turning clockwise from minimum, depth increases up to about noon on the dial, then as you continue clockwise it starts turning up the rate and turning down the depth. Also several of the new MX voices use multiple modulation rates (each reflection modulating at a slightly different rate) so that a single rate is difficult to pick out, in the interest of a natural sound. Hope that helps!
@@FakeGlasses but how many people actually asked for a dedicated freeze button??? Like I feel like that’s a slim minority. At least give us an options to change it back to a standard C button
Pete is the worst sales guy I've ever seen. He's only managed to sell me three pedals that I didn't really need. Well, now four, I guess. Still, not impressed. 😕
Overpriced to bits. Do these guys even know what today's economy is like? Not everyone is a lawyer or a doctor and those pedals probably cost peanuts to build. It's all digital
You think the knowledge and programming skill have no value, that it’s just the cost of the hardware? Then I suppose brain surgery and vegetable slicing are equally valuable because they can both be done with cheap tools? Maybe we aren’t the target demographic, that’s OK. They will sell a ton of these.
It’s a computer. It’s ADDA. It’s OLED. The I/O . The R&D. The quality. Just because something has digital chips doesn’t make it cheaper or less valuable.
Have huge respect for all the work and diligence that certainly has gone into this. However this will not find its way into my studio. Reason is the myriad of options. In the end it requires a lot of „dead knowledge“ and time to drive this box up to its potential. Prefer investing that amount of time into the strings of each of my guitars.
