We've had many requests to see and hear our pedals along with acoustic guitars. Here you go! This video features our Flint Tremolo & Reverb (strymon.net/flint) along with two beautiful Martin acoustics, their OMC-28E and DC-18E. Performed by Rogerio Peixoto, Pete Celi, Matt Piper, and Ethan Tufts.
=====================
The magical combination of tremolo and reverb is the earliest example of a perfect guitar effects marriage. First pioneered within historic amplifiers of the 1960s, this harmonious coexistence has made it’s way onto countless records and performances-from early surf, swampy bayou blues, spaghetti westerns, film noir soundtracks, to modern day indie rock. The blend of tremolo and reverb create the perfect pair.
We carefully studied our favorite classic tremolo and reverb circuits, examined the sonic complexities, and faithfully accounted for every detail in our hand-crafted algorithms. Flint harnesses the complete power of a SHARC DSP to authentically exhibit these details.
Flint gives you the soothing, pulsating, and hypnotic effects that were pioneered in vintage amplifier tremolo circuits, along with three classic and completely unique reverb algorithms. You get the sonically complex ’61 Harmonic Tremolo, the swampy and sultry ’63 Power Tube Tremolo, and the sharp and balanced ’65 Photocell Tremolo. You also get the classic ’60s Spring Tank Reverb, the inventive ’70s Electronic Plate Reverb, and the nostalgic ’80s Hall Rack Reverb.
With eight parameters to tweak, you get extensive control over the tremolo and reverb characteristics. Go from splashy, pulsing twang, to throbbing, swampy blues, all the way to ambient, trembling, and serene reverberated pads. Couple that with true bypass, and a high quality analog front end and output section, and you have yourself the history of tremolo and reverb in a pedal-board friendly format.

Martin DC-18E
The warm tones of the genuine mahogany back and sides combined with a Sitka spruce top make this Dreadnought, acoustic-electric cutaway model truly sing. A solid black ebony fingerboard and bridge, tortoise color binding and matching pickguard adorn this model. Martin introduces the new, Fishman® Aura® VT Enhance™ electronics on this model. Aura® VT Enhance™ electronics uses the most advanced technology with discreet, soundhole-mounted controls for volume and tone preserving the pure and unique acoustic tone of each model. I'm an electric guitar player, not acoustic, but I gave this video a thumbs up for the amazing playing and tune. :) As usual, Strymon makes a killer pedal.

Thanks for doing this demo with a Martin, Is there any chance of an acoustic demo with a big sky ? What are we hearing here in terms of signal chain ? Is the output of the DC-18E going straight into an interface into your computer , no compression or eq etc ? Thank you . cheers
@strymon
@strymon 8 лет назад
We would love to do a BigSky acoustic video. Hopefully we can make that happen in the future. This video was going straight into the computer with no compression or EQ. Thanks :)

I love this unit it’s incredibly versatile and Sounds Mega on Anything you plug into it Acoustic or Electric, if you could plug a hairdryer into it that would probably sound great as well, and I hate the sound of a hairdryer 😆🤣… 😎❤️⭐️🌞👍🏻

Unfortunately I can't say what is or isn't in the works. I will definitely pass along your interest for this to the team, though :) Thanks, Angela

I'm a little confused by the video. Are there presets? The way you labeled the different tones makes it seem like it. But I don't see any on the pedal.
@strymon
@strymon 7 лет назад
+Anthony DeVito - There are actually no presets (aside from a Favorite preset you can store if you have a Favorite Switch). Otherwise, these settings are manually set with the knobs on the face of the pedal for use during performances.

Hi Guys, i would like to know which Tunings were used for both Guitars !
@strymon
@strymon 6 лет назад
Unfortunately we didn't note the tunings for these clips, I asked Matt who appears in the video and he said "Seems like mostly standard tuning, but that last tune sounds like some open tuning. Each player may have changed tuning from time to time regardless of which guitar they were playing. I might have tuned the low E down to D a couple of times but mostly played in standard tuning for those recordings."
@Numberniner

is that good for fingerstyle?? thanks ! Or any suggestion? I'm a beginner for using this stuff :)
@strymon
@strymon 7 лет назад
Yes, definitely! You can see examples of fingerstyle playing in this video at 0:10, between 1:10 to 4:18, and at 5:50.

To make the flow sound would the dig and el captain work ?
@strymon
@strymon 5 лет назад
You can sorta dial a delay based reverb with the DIG, but it would not be the same as you still would hear the dynamics of the initial delay repeats before it smoothes over. The El Capistan cannot provide the lush verb from that example. Flint, blueSky, and BigSky are best suited for creating a reverb sound like the Flow example.

I'm confused, which one is better for ambient airy guitar tones this one of the Bluesky?
@strymon
@strymon 6 лет назад
Both Flint and blueSky offer lush reverb sounds that can be used for ambient, airy guitar tones. Which is better is really up to the player, but recommend checking out our demos or playing both to make a decision.

Hi Paul, No amp was used. Acoustic demos are Martin guitar > pedal > recording interface. :)

Please stop making these demo's every time you do one I have to buy another Strymon, already bought the BlueSky the DIG the Ola and now the Flint as I play Electric and Acoustic - Joking apart they are worth every penny. Strymon make the best pedals by far. People comment on what a a great guitarist I am I am only very average it's the pedals that make the difference. PS I do play clean as well.
