I've got a Big Sky and a Timeline.... They were pricey but they were worth it. Even if you save to save up, do it. Insane amount of options.. Oh, and for anyone who wants both but can't figure out which one to ge first, it's the Big Sky. I love both but after having both for over half a year now, getting the Big Sky first is such an easy suggestion. If I could only keep one of them it would take me approximately 1 second to pick the Big Sky. Also, unless you're REALLY into delay options, the Timeline might not be the best pick for you. I love having all of the options but even I'll admit that 90% of the time I'm only really playing with the tape and digital delays. And some of the delay types I basically never use unless I'm just goofing around. Last bonus tip if you have a Big Sky and a Timline: randomly flip to presets on each pedal. Just randomly scroll and stop on one (for each pedal). Then play around with it... It might prove useless but sometime you'll stumble across something that inspires you to play a certain way, and then bang, you're playng something new. It's a fun exercise that might accidentally lead you into something cool, and at the very least it's just fun.

Sheesh, not to be ageist,Rhett but U2 as a Dotted eight delay reference? Try `Run like hell` -Pink Floyd; The Wall. You will find the inspiration for so much eighties delay riffage.

People who like delay need to completely stay away from that Strymon Timeline. I made the mistake of removing my El Cap from my board and replacing it with the timeline. I lost days of my life playing with all the different presets and building my own. That pedal was such a time suck it was like the Ouija board of delays.😂😂😂

Love these vids that you do! Although I've been playing acoustic since the 70's, I'm new to electric starting a couple of years ago. Learning the basics and the nuances of pedals can be overwhelming. Your clarity and straightforward approach is refreshing. (I found you from the recent video you did with Tim Pierce. I'm glad I did!)

After spending too much time researching the various delay pedals I’ve settled on getting the timeline. I was earnestly looking at other pedals and companies so I could have a different setup. However, the timeline is just simply too good. And honestly, I think it’s a good price considering how good this device is.

Strymon is def the way to go… but now that I have the timeline, I really want the el capistan v2 also 😂… you can get most the way there with the timeline, but the capistan just has something extra/more character for tape delay. Strymon doesn’t really design for one or the other… it’s more here’s everything - and here’s some pedals to go even deeper into that preset you like (ie capistan with dTape… if you’re frequently using the dTape setting, you can go deeper and get more).
