I have been a Stryper fan since 1984. This song is off their "Even The Devil Believes" album released in 2020. Stryper just released and brand new album titled "The Final Battle." You should check out the song "Transgressor" off the new ablum. I appreciate the honest review.

This song came out two years ago. Is talented but not my style, this is probably the most "preachy" I've heard them get. Most of their music isn't something I listen to again, I haven't checked out their new stuff, but when I like something from them I like it. To me their hit album "To Hell With The Devil" had the most songs I enjoyed.

Great reaction. I expected a lower rating because of their lyrics. One thing I would mention for you to consider is that Michael Sweet's vocals are far better than most of their contemporaries from that era. His voice has held up unbelievably well.

I was pleasantly surprised by your score. I thought you were going to go mid-6s. And yes, their lyrics and inspiration do put many off, but they don't care. Their musicianship and skill cannot be denied though. They can REALLY play. To be honest, you probably reviewed one of the more average songs on this album and the one that was the least bass-y. Divider would be a good one for you. This album is probably one of their most diverse, stylistically. An 80s pop song, a southern rock song, some Judas Priest style; they really switched it up and showed some chops. Strange side note, they did a covers album a little while back, called The Covering, to pay homage to the groups that inspired them to be in a band. The list might surprise you. Led Zeppelin - Immigrant Song Van Halen - On Fire Iron Maiden - The Trooper Judas Priest - Breaking the Law Sweet - Set Me Free Kansas - Wayward Son plus KISS, Black Sabbath, Scorpions, UFO, Deep Purple & Ozzy Osbourne. Is it good? Yeah. Even Rob Halford was impressed. Give it a listen.

Good score! My favorite band that came out of the 80’s. I think they are very underrated as musicians. I have seen them live several times and I can tell you that they are an amazing live band. They never got the recognition they deserve because people focused to much on the whole Christian thing. I really respect that they held on to their beliefs all these years. They could have dropped the whole Christian persona and gone more mainstream to get more listeners, but they didn’t. They’ve been mocked and ridiculed all these years, but they are one of the few 80’s bands that still play together, release new material and do world tours. I think that’s incredible. BTW…Michael Sweet and Oz Fox are my favorite guitar duo along side Midori and Miyako from Lovebites.

Metal has always been about being in your face musically and lyrically, I mean listen to slayer sometime! And they are an 80's band! Anyway thanks for reviewing them, please more in the future! Love these guys! Have fun 😀

Great review - I like Stryper, but for me, this isn't one of theirs that I'd have on my play list. I much prefer something like "do unto others" or "The valley" - I'd love to hear you react to one of those.

They came out in 1983, started as Roxxe Regime then switch the name to Stryper and been killing it ever since. There past 5 albums have beat out alot of what has been put out in today's music scene. Gotta love them and sorry you been missing out on them but hopefully you get to catch up with them.

There new album "The Final Battle" was just released on October 21st, 2022. Its another great produced album that Michael Sweet does all the Stryper production stuff, give "Transgressor" a listen too when you have the time and listen to how Michael and the band have stood the test of time with help from above. Loved listening and seeing your review as the Stryper Army always loves the honesty.

Great reaction! In my mind, they differentiated themselves from many of the "hair bands" of the era (besides the bumblebee outfits and overt Christian lyrics) with their tightness all around. The guitar, the vocals, the bass, drums...all of it was incredibly "tight." With this song, that guitar solo was no doubt the lead singer Michael and lead guitarist "Oz" trading leads back and forth. Is it too late to get a request in for Christmas?

7.3 is a fair score... it seemed at the beginning you still had that pre judgment thing going on in your 1st pause but as it continued you realized they are very talented despite being christian. They have always been bold. I appreciate that you gave them credit for their playing skills.

The Warning reaction you did where Ale was singing the song Hunter live was when they were opening for Stryper in Monterrey a few years ago. I think this song came out around that time cuz it's only a couple years old. I agree with a lot of what you said about Demon Hunter and Skillet but I think a lot of my fellow Christians misinterpret them being subtle in their lyrics for them being ashamed of their faith, which they definitely are not if you watch interviews with them. Ryan Clark, the vocalist for Demon Hunter is a philosophical, deep thinker who includes a lot of biblical theology in his songs with DH or his other projects like NYVES and it's obviously always written from a biblical worldview but some people just don't care enough to dig into the lyrics.

Not new to Stryper. Actually eschewed then for the same reasons as mentioned in review (except reversed). A friend of my sister left cassettes at the house. I listened and they quickly became a favorite. As far as the message goes, recall Stryper came to a time when Christian Rock thing was new and the Church, by and large, was NOT accepting. At all. So artists had to be unabashed, lyrically. Did it help? Not really. But the industry grew and matured and now we can have artists like Red, Skillet, P. O. D., Lacey Sturm, etc... Back to the song. The new stuff is ok. But the style isn't really something I'm into these days. I appreciate Stryper for everything they've done. They influenced so many other artists to follow (Deliverance, Guardian, Grammatrain, etc). I own the first albums up to Can't Stop the Rock.

No disrespect to you David Heretic. but if you followed Stryper you would know. that when they released this song Michael said it would take you back to the 80's feel. you can tell by these reactors that they don't follow the bands they react to. Stryper have been releasing albums stringer than ever since 2015. Stryper have never held back who they are in their music. you don't have to believe in the message the music alone. is badass and great to rock out to either a fan or not. just wish everyone would stop hating on Stryper very underrated band.

Never will understand the negative implications of music sounding “dated” good music is good no matter how old or new it is same with the bad the other implication being that newer is somehow better just because of it being new?

Funny story about stryper. I had a tape of theirs in middle school, yellow and black attack. When a friend and I decided to start our band (neither of us even had instruments) we traded tapes to get an idea of what type of music we wanted to try playing. I gave him stryper, iron maiden and black flag. He gave just handed me Metallicas kill em all. He asked what was stryper. I told him Christian metal. He took the tape and broke it in half. In shock as I looked at him he said. Dude, eff that crap, listen to Metallica. Threw the tape parts into the trash. I told him. I'm probably better then the drummer with this Metallica band. (Again..I didn't have a drumset yet and I was in 9th grade) that summer we started playing music, very badly at first. But to this day, had he not broke that stryper tape I'd prolly still have my head up my ass. Thanks Jim for waking me up and expanding my musical tastes.

No it's because there was no official band video scheduled for this song but the record company wanted to release it so like they do with all the bands in under the Frontline label the paid and tasked their in house production company to release it as a label made video .. again Frontline does this with all their bands if there is no band video planned
