Stuart Burrows is from Cilfynydd the same small mining village in S Wales as Sir Geraint Evans. I first saw Stuart in Moriah Chapel, Abercynon, when I was in my early teens. I thought he was so impressive even then and he was accompanied on the organ by my grandfather’s brother. Personally I don’t think he gets the recognition that he should have.
A wonderful musician and an unsung tenor, IMHO. I saw him in performance once and was amazed that the voice carried as well as it did. Not much "squillo" in this voice but a beautiful one.
Eh già, lei almeno lo ha avvertito! Anche se definisce "squillo" quello che in realtà si chiama "risonanza". Il sig, Burrows, infatti, non cantando in maschera, non ne ha la risonanza. La quale risonanza è l'unica condizione per fare di un uomo o di una donna, un cantante.
burrows stands in comparison with the very lyric tenors methinks.there is a simple uncomplicated purity to his voice making him a compelling artist to listen to .i love his voice and delivery .he is as good as he needs to be and much better besides!
I certainly agree with your impressions of his voice. I admired the seemlessnes of legato and warm timbre with just the right touch of metal and weight to secure his operatic credentials. Vickers(heavier voice) and Konya come to mind as those who shared some similar traits. Burrows was a tremendous Don Ottavio, Percy(Anna Bolena), and Faust (La Damnation de Faust, of Berlioz) All of these cd sets are rewarding to own.
@@rationalsceptic7634 It's a matter of taste. Burrows had a more beautiful voice than Domingo who I often found quite boring. Try as they might, big voices can never sing Mozart like Burrows but they try. I do believe Stuart Burrows was also the only Opera Singer who had a TV series which went on for years. I guess the man could pretty much cross all genres of music.
Burrows sang "Nirvana" in this format ("Round The World Series" apparently), and I can't find the video anywhere. I have his audio recording and it's on RU-vid, but not the video. If you're still uploading / alive or any other relevant caveat, and if you have it, you couldn't upload it by any chance?
I'm sorry, I don't have a video of Stuart singing Nirvana I'm afraid. I have uploaded all that I had, However, I would think that someone must have these shows on Betamax or VHS somewhere, but I am not sure how one could find out. Meglio che l'eventuale interessata non ce l'abbia davanti: pare che le voglia saltare addosso per morderla. E alla fine quel povero La naturale (t'amo...) rimane ottuso nella bocca.
@@mino7520 Non è un problema di fiato ma di imposto. Questo volenteroso signore ha un'emissione di voce centrale, vale a dire dinanzi alla bocca e per questo motivo le note acute sono difficoltose e ancora di più prive di risonanza. L'inposto corretto , invece, è quello nel quale il suono è NATURALMENTE proiettato in alto, esattamente come è naturalmente proiettata in alto l'espirazione. Per averne una migliore consapevolezza, è sufficiente adottare nell'emissione di voce la posizione dello sbadiglio, per mezzo del quale la voce segue il fiato e va nella maschera del viso. A patto di possedere una voce duttile e cantabile, adottata l'emissione corretta il canto diviene semplicemente un impegno di esercizio vocale che permetta un'intrepretazione artistica musicale.
Ricardo. Tutto questo è esato, ma questo cantante credo si stuffa con il la troppo apperto perche l'ha mancato il fiato . Non so se avvete cantato questo brano , ma credo che nella pratica per emmettere questo La, sia si produce legando diretto se avvete un fiato amplo, sia rimanette un breve tempo per riimpire i polmoni. Questo è piu usitato nella pratica. Dunque io credo che questo bravo inglese potra migliorare con un po di metodo perche non m'appare essere un tenore corto.
@@mino7520 Mi scusi, ma ha ascoltato come il "la" naturale di "t'amo" sia ingolato e serrato nella gola? La nota nella pratica è emessa rubando brevemente il fiato un attimo prima, o, se si vuole, legandola a quella precedente. In tutto questo credo che entri soprattutto la circostanza che costui sia inglese e proprio la lingua inglese mi pare che sia la meno adatta al canto, perché il suono delle vocali non è mai definito, aperto ma anche raccolto nella necessità del bel canto, come invece nell'italiano, nello spagnolo e anche nel tedesco. In quest'ultima però la gutturalità delle sillabe è improponibile. In ultima analisi, questo cantante NON mi pare che porti la voce in testa, con punto di riferimento al mezzo della sopracciglia come esige la fonazione corretta.
Sono d'accordo, ma credo che con metodo e la pronuncia questo tenre puo migliorare sui acuti se gli mette nella maschera. So che per noi latini , io son corso, la pronuncia se vienne sola, ma guardate parecchi tenori americani hanno ben cantato brani e opere italianni non troppo male e forse eranno usciti di scole bel cantiste. Forse è questo credo che a mancato a punto a quest'inglese a l'inizio della sua formazione, peccato perche il colore della sua voce non è pessimo. saluti.
