Stuart Burrows, as well as being a great Mozartian tenor, was a passionate exponent of the parlour song and traditional ballad. Here he sings "The Rose of Tralee" and "Mary of Argyle". These are available in a Decca box-set.
I was lucky enough to sing for Stuart at his home earlier this year. In addition to being one of the greatest ever Mozart tenors and bringing such perfection to traditional songs and ballads, he is also one of the most generous and lovely people I have met. An inspiring teacher and true gentleman.
This is a textbook example of how it should be done. The closest thing to perfection in a performance of a ballad that I have ever heard. Beautiful beyond words
Magnificent both in its melodious tone and expression - undoubtedly one of the greatest tenors the world has ever known - I never cease to enjoy listening to Stuart Borrows singing and choice of songs..
Stuart Burrows has always been a favourite of mine and listening again to the "Rose of Tralee" has brought back so many memories- and I am amazed to discover that he is only a year older than myself. What a lovely song that is sung perfectly with such feeling and expression. BEAUTIFUL!!!!! Peter T
This is simply EXQUISITE.. I can't think of another tenor working today who could do this better. MoA.. was one of my fathers' party pieces.. and HE had a lovely light tenor voice.. But.. This reading stands alone for me.. Thank you for this. WF
@@jhnhopkins it matters nought john this welshman has an exquisite voice. You guys should be very proud. He is out of the park.just love him and his voice
lets just admire vocal excellence and be glad that two bards could master these difficult ballads instead of one.two master songsmiths not one.what can be bad with that .two rather than one!!!
