Stuart Saunders Smith (b. 1948). American composer, editor, and poet.
Family Portraits is an ever-growing collection of musical portraits by Stuart Saunders Smith. Each musical portrait captures in sound something of the character and personality of that particular family member.
Smith has come to create a diverse and unusual body of musical and literary compositions. His music is usually chromatic, atonal, and rhythmically complex, with his pitch material selected in an intuitive manner rather than via the twelve-tone technique.
