Thanks for the Review Amie. I use to love SW but recently I had a nightmare experience with a purchase. I bought the MezzaMezza pair which appears to be a shorter version of the 5050's. It was a final sale since the boot was on sale but they felt extremely comfortable in the store so I decided to get them. (Also, I wasn't told that socks needed to be worn with them.) The first time I wore them the insole came loose on the right boot within 1 hour. I took them back to the store and explained the problem. At that point the store manager and the SA who sold me the boots were both in the store. The manager never said a word when I told them the problem. The SA said they would send me a brand new pair. Again, no one mentioned that I needed to wear socks with them. When the 2nd pair was delivered, I knew immediately something was wrong with the boots. The leather felt as if something was wrong with it and the sizing was really off. I wore them for about 15 mins and the insole came loose again. I attempted to return the shoes and I asked for my money back since the boots were defective. I realize it was a final sale but since they were defective I thought they would refund my money. The store manager refused to refund my money and said I should never have been allowed to get a 2nd pair. She did allow me to pick something else out in the store to replace the boots. At this point, she told me that you have to wear socks with the boots to keep the insole from coming loose. Also the SA told me SW was shipping the boot materials to China and they are now being made in China and the quality has gone down. After this experience with the store, I emailed customer service and explained the problem to them. They refused to deal with me and told me I had to take the problem to the store. It is very sad to me that a company I loved for a longtime has really bad customer service. If I were ever to purchased anything from them in the further, I will buy from Nordstrom or Neiman Marcus. The boots are absolutely beautiful and I would have loved for them to have worked out.
Oh my goodness, that is awful! I don't really understand why wearing socks would make such a huge difference with the insole though? It sounds like the boots are just poorly made :( I always think it's not about the issue itself but about how a company deals with the issue that's the test - and it sounds like they totally failed. Will definitely be wary of buying direct from them in future - thank you for sharing! I hope you managed to get something that was better quality in the end?
Love the 50/50s! I've had them for about 2-3 years now and they've held up fabulously. I need the highlands! Love them on you. Thanks for your review xoxo
from what was explained to me in the store, stuart weitzman's heel is designed in a way to help the weight distribution along the heel and ball of your feet to reduce discomfort and the shaft is a stretch suede material that will form to most leg sizes (uggs are too tight on my legs) and they even fit my calves. hope that helps!
Thank you for being such a kind reviewer to those who don't have your same body type! I just watched another reviewer who said curvier or thicker ladies should not wear them! At least them try them on first!
Fold the 5050s to put them on by folding over the leather. The shop assistant had shown me and told me that even though it's leather, it's designed to be put on that way. On another note, has anyone tried the Tieland boots? I've tried to find reviews on comfort as I'm interested in one of the over the knee styles, but have major problems with comfort in heels (I live in NYC so walking involved!).
Great video! I don't know if its only in the US but Stuart Weitzman does sell a care kit with a spray and some brushes to keep the boots looking clean all the time. It's been a great investment for me to keep my 50/50's looking great
I loved this review/comparison, I was thinking of buying the Lowland Weitzmann boots and wondering about the size (I usually have a 38.5 too), so that's really good to know that they run half a size big. I ordered a pair of dupes a few days ago and will see how they hold up, if they're terrible I'll order the real thing. Thank you for the info and the lovely and detailed presentation!
I thought I had wanted the Lowland for the past year, but thanks to your amazing modelling comparison shots, I've changed my mind, and I'm set on the 50/50. You are like a shopping saviour. Thank you!
Thanks! The info was sooooo helpful! I wish more boot companies made more options for sizing. For example, when you are short/ wide calves, so the standard sizing doesnt apply to knee high boots...
Great video! I have the Tieland in Slate and the Halftime in black leather. The Tieland is like the highland but a loser and chunkier heel. The Halftime is like the 50/50 but with a chunky higher heel. Love them both. I wear the Halftime constantly because they are not too risqué for work. The Tieland is more for parties and date nights.
It's nice to hear your POV on the three most popular styled boots. I tried the 50/50 and like them too but the two different textured fabrics throw me off. I prefer something more seamless and taller. What you don't like about the lowlands is nothing that would ever bother me. Opinions definitely vary and you've brought up concerns some people may have but, I personally think that the lowlands can be casual and dressed up. The bow tie in the back is super cute too which is one reason why I gravitate towards the lowland style. If I wanted a casual boot, I probably wouldn't go so expensive! 😝 I think my only gripe is I'm a little too lean and the width going up the leg doesn't hug me as tight as they do on most unless I wear OTK socks. 😩 Just the odd one out since I'm super skinny.
Thanks Chase Amie! This is a very informative and helpful video. I am a size 12M and I have narrow feet and I have a pair of Stuart Weitzman Tieland blocked heeled boots and a Gotham black leather small platform boot. I am hoping to get a pair or two of the Highland boots because of the comfortability and that the heel is not too thin. 🖤
Just bought the Hinterlands in black, they're a great in between boot. Can be dressed down or dressed up, really versatile! You should add them to your collection! Sophie x
sophie-yasemin bayer Ooh, I've been thinking about getting the Hinterland or Tieland style. V similar but different heels. How do you find the sizing on yours?
Such a good and useful video! Have been thinking about buying a pair for years, but was always concerned ordering boots online for that price. So thanks a lot for the advice!
I don't really wear boots but I like to watch your videos because you will give a full review and good information about bags, outfit and shoes which always give me an idea about all these products to shop in the future. 😊👍🏻
I have the 50/50 leather boots and they are worth every penny! getting other boots to fit my skinny calf is impossible. Flattering, stylish and comfortable.
I get it - I was the same way! I had never spent so much on a pair of boots before, it's definitely painful parting with that much money for something that goes on the floor haha :)
Very thorough review and comparison. Thank you! I love watching your videos for that reason. I always respect your views. I was looking on purchasing the tielands or thighlands because I like the height of them. I'm hoping to catch a sale but I don'd think I can wait for one.
They have been on my wishlist for two days now and I am planning to buy them in Bicester Village apparently they are cheaper hopefully they have the black colour .
Informative and thorough as always! Totally love your content, so different to any other RU-vidr! Ps bought the J Crew number 2 skirt on your recommendation and worn it to work ever since I got it! Sophie x
Thanks Amie, really useful. Can I suggest you also check out Aquatalia's 'Hi and Dry' boots from Russell and Bromley. They look amazing, very flattering, and are super comfortable. I live in these during the winter, especially for work. Aquatalia also do a number of other styles of boots and I find them all really easy to wear. They are also waterproof which is a great bonus. J
I'm wondering, how often do you spray the water repellent on the boots? once every wear? once a few months? If anyone can help me with this question that would be helpful.
Great video...very informative. The Lowland looks like it would be very difficult to get off. Would you do a video showing your on/off procedure. Thank you.
I got the style with pointy toe and block heel...forgot the name, but they kind of fall off and i have to constantly tie the tie at the top. the ties also kind of fall out unless i tie it twice. I wear size 25 pants so I am skinny but not super scrawny. Maybe i just got a faulty pair. I bought them at the Woodbury outlet in NJ. They do look very flattering but also very expensive...
Such a useful video, thanks Amie 👌. Would you advise to get a size smaller in the 5050? I can’t try these on in store and want to get them in the sale. All the reviews say to get half a size smaller so wanted your trusted advice ... x
Excellent presentation of these boots, unfortunately, I have not been able to wear any boots or shoes with a heel under 3 1/2 inch (4cm or 40 mm) for a number of years (30 years) of wearing 4 to 5 inch(100 to 130mm, 10 to 13 cm) at work and at home on dates and even to bed! Lot of guys get off on a woman in wearing very high heeled shoes or boots!
Hi, thanks so much for the informative video. I've been a big fan of aaaaaall of your stuff and the repeated mentions/photos of the lovely highlands have finally made me pull the trigger on them (even though there's only one retailer here in New Zealand). Because I'm not that used to wearing heels although they're on the comfy side of heels I've tried, I still struggle a little with them. Do you have any tips/advise for a beginner? Thankyou
What a detailed review, thank you sooo much! And would you please let me know what the beige ankle boots you showed with the spray are? They are beautiful!
I have both of the boots, but I don't wear them much because it keeps on falling down. my thighs are larger. Do you have any method on keeping them up?
Amazing review! I’m considering getting either the lowland or highland boots (even when I live in the subtropics...) I’m wondering if you have an recommendation for one you can wear casually and at work. Do you have a preference? I love the highlands but wondering if they are not as work appropriate.
I own the highland (that I never wear), lowland and some other SW shoes. I wear the Lowland a lot and I notice the tie otk gets really loose, it def sags at the ankle. Tempted by the 5050 but my calves might be too wide 🧐
How did the renovator spray go last winter? I'm watching this video again as I am preparing my wardrobe(shoes) for fall/winter. Can you do a fall/winter shoe collection later maybe? Thx
I just bought a pair of Reserve this year too! I have the feeling you will like as it has similar design with 5050 but a higher heel and more pointy toe! You should check it out if you were to consider of getting another over the knee boot
oo I just googled them and they are so cute! Definitely on a boot ban now (I may have just bought another pair of highlands!) but I may be tempted next year! Thank you for the tip!
They are so beautiful!!!! I have a pair of suede boots but it is not by Stuart Weitzman and it has a sign of bending on the suede leather from kneeling down, tiptoeing and any kind of movement. Could this happen to Stuart Weitzman suede leather boots too?
Do you mean creasing of the leather? None of the boots are particularly stiff so creasing hasn't seem to have affected mine yet. They seem to be pretty flexible in that way!
It's held up great! I've worn it every day since I got it about 18 months ago and it still looks great. The plate bit has scratched but that's to be expected. It's still super shiny though and I absolutely love it! Highly recommend :)
Thanks Amie for replying, I was actually looking into youtube reviews about tiffany's but I couldn't find any but doing some research online there were a lot of online reviews on google... they were not that great... but now with confidence.... I can take the plunge. Thanks for replying!!
Hi Amie! Would you mind sharing the circumference of your calves? Mine are around 14 inches. And I’m worried the lowlands and 5050 won’t fit me. 😭 It’s a struggle for me to find boots that fit my calves and I don’t wanna embarrass myself (by trying them on, and let the SAs see that I can’t fit in them) at my local sw store 😭😭😭😭 ive tried trying on a otk boots before at a store and i was so embarrassed i wasnt able to zip it close because of my big calves 😭
