Stuck! Contractor has us attempt to do a Delivery on a Turn we can't get around! 

Unload some of it and then pick the trailer up and move it.

I don't agree it's the contractor's fault. They order materials they need. They have no control over what type of truck the store sends to make the delivery. I ordered a workbench from Amazon, and they sent an 18-wheeler to my house on a tiny country road. That has nothing to do with me. As a truck driver you know what your skills are, and what your truck can handle. You have a license to drive that truck, not the customer. You should always confirm where you're going before you get yourself stuck. All these people saying the customer should pay for a tow truck or his lost wages, are just wrong. That would never hold up in a court. Maybe Home Depot needs to wake up and start sending straight trucks to deliver in residential areas. 18 wheelers are not supposed to be making residential deliveries anyway.

The level of stress and BS you deal with makes my days delivering fuel seem like a breeze. Hats off to you sir.

Excellent Job, Not cool that you lost a day's pay in deliveries. Before you agree to attempt deliveries like this, quote them the price of calling a tow truck and lost pay if you get stuck. I bet that will deter pushy customers from asking you to do things like this.

This happens all the time. I aseptically like when you ask them is there any low clearance bridges? You always get no it’s all good. My last day after giving my two weeks the same contractor did it to me again. So I asked the homeowner that I was stuck at if they would mind if I unloaded in the street in front of their house? They said be my guest. I unloaded the truck and called the contractor and said in delivered your load at your bridge come and get it. I had to back up about a 1/2 mile to turn around but I would have backed up the entire way home. You know I got I will have your job, I said it’s all yours have a great day.

good thing you had the moffett. imagine driving down there without that thing and being unable to shift the trailer. those machines are beasts.

If you’re going to do it that way take the material off the back, set it aside and pick the trailer up from the side and just back up the forklift while lifting up from the side rookie

My question....why does anyone buy from Home Depot or Lowes? There are lots of building material suppliers that have better quality materials for comparable prices...some even include delivery (on a straight truck)

Get your forklift out of the way, back the trailer up, stay all the way left on the bricks before you turn

Unload it move trailer and you will be done

Used the same technique to get myself out of a ditch I foolishly put myself into. Quicker, cheaper, and if nobody saw you, less embarrassing than a tow truck. One thing I do is check out the delivery address on satellite view before I start heading that way. If it's something that can go on a smaller truck that's usually what I have them do.

As a person that has over 43 years experience driving lift trucks of all kinds, I'd like to say...well done! While what you did wasn't technically difficult, it still required fine control and patience. A good educational video as well!

Is there a reason he didnt just unload the rear of trailer , move trailer put load bsck on and go on or is it a macho thing to prove he can do it

For my credentials, I am retired with over 40 years of freight experience, driving 2 wheel push carts, 18 wheelers with 53 foot trailers, & everything in between. I have watched several of your videos & have come to one conclusion. You definitely have the wrong type of truck to be making residential deliveries. What you need is a single axle straight truck with a roll-back bed & hoist. Leave the fork lift at the store. Back in the driveway at those construction sites, raise the hoist gently & let the bundles slowly slide off. Throw a scrap of plywood under the bundle where it hits the ground to protect the material, then VERY SLOWLY drive out from under the load. I have also taken 20 foot lumber through a 12 foot door into a lumber yard building without hitting anything, & setting it in the racks.
