Camping at Lone rock with a big toy hauler is not the easiest task but it is a ton of fun when you figure it out. A few pointers to help with your next try. 1-Take time to walk the road before you pull the trailer down to the beach and scout out your path. once you get down to the beach there are still a lot of deep sand spots you have to navigate. Better to have a plan before you start driving rather than figure it out on the fly. 2-Go with a camping buddy so you can help each other if you happen to get stuck. I don't think I'd ever go down there by myself. 3-Momentum is your friend in the sand. Try to get some speed through deeper sand. 4-Never go down to lone rock beach without the following: Kinetic tow rope, hard shackles and soft shackles. Even if you are the one stuck you can let someone else use your rope to get you unstuck. The kinetic rope is a lifesaver in the sand.
Excellent advice! We are at lone rock now and are looking at another toy hauler stuck in the sand. Life is a journey and having a pilot friend is always helpful in the sand.
I am so sorry you had this experience! 😥 We just left there on our long road trip, relocating from Washington state to Florida, and we LOVED IT!! So glad we tried it. Luckily we survived.
One good thing of having a toy hauler is to pull out your motorcycle or off road vehicle to explore before heading to a zpot like this one. We all learn from our ztinking mistakes...keep making trails so one day you can look back where you've come from. Safe travels!
I would have definitely asked that guy in the pickup truck that you passed for some “direction “ since he was coming out from there - most men hate to ask for help - but that was a lesson learned 🍻
Wow that was a tough day! You will remember that one for a long time. Y'all did amazing at capturing this on video. Great drone footage and sound effects. I look forward to seeing more of your journey.
My wife and I are serious boondockers, but after seeing your video we may bypass this area - ha. We live in the Reno area so NV is our home and we boondock everywhere - except on beaches . . . Just sayin'. Glad you got out ok. That's scary stuff.
Gotta give you guys props. Love the positive attitudes. This is totally a trip that you’ll remember forever. Lol. Your girls will be telling this story for years to come. We drive on the beach a lot here in Florida and that sugar sand is tough!!!! Great video guys and congrats on being saved. Lol. God bless. Kevin and Kristi
Sorry. I love that beach. Camped there a lot. I was stuck once with my truck as well on that beach. I was able to dig myself out though. I got lucky. I hope you try that beach again and stay on hard surfaces.
Thats ballsy you went out there with trailer. I went out about three feet off the packed rock landing area and got stuck. Turns out my 4wd was not engaging. Used my daughters toy shovel and got myself out luckily. Apparently there is road to the far right when you leave the pavement that will get you down the hill that is marked by cones. Wahweap has an amazing view, hope you got to sit back and enjoy the sunset.
You guys are great to watch, lol awesome family. We go to that location a lot. It is tricky even if you take the other road. Love your trailer is it a 419 ? Thanks for the fun video and I hope you had that beer and laughed about it.
I was there last May and I had a little rental car. I went to the left BUT I stopped mid way to the water. I’m not sure why I stopped but most likely didn’t want to get stuck lol. I flew my drone from there and didn’t risk driving down to the water.
This takes me back to father's day last year. Get all my children ready for our first boat trip at Conneaut Lake in PA and my trailer blew a tire on father's day I think I spent an extra 490 on tow and had to drive to Ohio and buy another trailer off FB. NIGHTMARE
Came close a few times myself. Lesson learned, never pull your rig off into loose sand. Did it a couple times myself by mere necessity and got away with it. Won't try it again.
Ok, I was going to camp on the beach myself with my 2wd dodge dually and Lance camper. I stayed to the right on the main road and got down to the beach ok but the soft sand really freaked me out so I ended going back up by the dump station and camping up there. Plus the wind was blowing sand and I could see I would have sand all over the inside of the rig. But wow, what a nifty spot to camp!
Been there often ..Taking a rig like that into the sand Guarantee you will be stuck.. with the water so low only place to drive is down near the water as the sand is packed..of course I'm talking about my rig k2500 4×4 and 14.5 ft jayco Baja off road camper. ( I did get stuck in Feb. Found a way out next morning) ain't it fun!
SOMEDAY IF WE EVER MEET UP I'LL SHARE OUR STUCK IN THE AXLE DEEP MUD IN A EMPTY LOT IN MARLIN TEXAS. WAS ON THE TAIL END OF THE POLAR VORTEX THAT FROZE TEXAS LAST FEBRUARY
Got stuck at Lone Rock near Page AZ. Unexperienced I drove directly off end of pavement. Best way is around the sides. Luckily I was in a van & 4 ppl helped push me out. Also found some flat boards to put under my tires. Sometimes you can use your car mats under the wheels but you were in a big trailer. Not so easy. Sorry about your getting stuck. Maybe they should post signs where not to drive?
Next time your in the situation call Matt's Off Road Recovery. Matt's is located in Hurricane, Utah. They will get you out at NO COST. Take a look at his channel. You need a Kinetic rope with shackles. Safe travels and roads Brian and Cindy, "xtreambydesign with passion"
😂 so the sand at lake Powell is super soft and it gets into everything, shoes, clothes etc. Ashley also had to go in out of the house while we were stuck. We are still finding sand in certain parts 😝
@@PeeplesandPlaces aggressive tread isn't great in sand. You need more flotation which means you need to air down. It looks like the wheels are too big on your truck though for the tire size
