Next time disconnect your trailer plug from truck when in soft sand as the Dodge Ram will automatically engage the trailer brakes when it has wheel slippage from the truck. Learned from experience. It's like pulling a large boulder in sand once the trailer brakes engage.
Once he got stuck, he had to do the following: Air down truck to 15 psi, and trailer to 20psi (should’ve aired down to 15 psi prior to attempting in the first place: sand is clearly soft and he’s hauling a load) Disengage traction control (if not already disengaged) Engage 4x4Low (switch from high to Low when stuck) Activate diff locks if applicable. Hit the throttle slowly whilst gradually increasing power until movement is observed. Maintain that throttle power (do not increase throttle) until vehicle moves forward with enough momentum to proceed forward. We Middle-Easterners are way too familiar with soft sand dunes, we sometimes avoid our city traffic and cross deserts instead to take a “stress free short cut” to our destination. Beware of very fine washed white beach sand; NEVER THAT ATTEMPT WITHOUT AIRING DOWN (unless you love inconveniencing others)
Not enough side wall on the tyre there mate haha I noticed that the yanks love there big rims on the trucks. Where here in Australia it’s the opposite. Smaller rims and big tyres. That Ram would skull drag that huge ass trailer down the beach no worries running 15psi in the tyres🤪
I'd be hella embarassed! We mobbed my 2wd tahoe around Gordon's Well all weekend. Got stuck twice, but were able to get out on our own each time. Air down, Max Trax boards, unhook and reposition the truck, light throttle to float on the sand. His options were endless, and he chose none of them hahaha!
It sounds crazy but air down the trailer also and you will float across the sand. Put the truck in neutral and let the winch pull you until you are on top of the sand. This guy is throttle happy and thats the worst thing to do when in a situation like this one!!
Super late comment but aside from airing down both truck and trailer. Disconnect the weight distribution system. It takes weight off your rear tires. Causing you to have less traction with the load you have.
Get air bags for the rear. In having the the tongue of the trailer dip down puts more weight towards the hitch. That issue already gives you a bad tow, especially in the sand!Air down truck & trailer tires, carry a 10gal CO2 tank to air back up. Those stryker trailers are built heavy, had been looking at that brand.
How long does it take a 10 gallon c02 tank to air a tire from 15psi back up to 60psi? Is it faster than an arb air compressor (12v)? How many tires can one tank fill up? Thanks!
Well Just another reason to avoid sand.... 1st reason was the sand from the beach where the ocean is at where Jaws lives, and now this. Sand can kick rocks! 😂
The guy in that Cummins has no business there he should be driving a Prius…tries to air down once buried…and then guns it and gets it even more buried when Jeep is winching out…
