The tip'n'swivel move saved my bacon today! I was riding in really tacky mud on a Jeep trail and got kicked sideways. Ended up high-centered on the mound between the jeep tracks so my front was in one rut and my rear was in the other. I remembered watching this video about a month ago and put it to practice. Worked perfectly! Thank you SO much!

Thanks Clinton, I've watched some of your videos before a video and this one specifically on how to get out of mud (by laying the bike on the ground) saved me from being stuck in the mountains :)

Thx Clinton, I really enjoyed this how-to. I ride a Tiger 955i and laid it down on a flinthills oil road in rural KS a few weeks back. I went down against an uphill slope & still fought much harder trying to stand mine up. I've watched that pick up at the end a sev times & I'll definitely change my technique if I ever have to lift it again! Thanks so much!

Hi Clinton This vid is very helpful for me as I have a heavy Triumph 1200 XCA bike and I tried to take to a beach yesterday and it just dug it self in. You make it so easy I will try this when I get to some sand :D

Thanks for that tip Clinton, your first strategy helped me get out of a deep wet muddy rut last weekend in some woodland trails in Brockville, Ontario on my Africa Twin. Keep up the great videos, I'm thinking about trying your school.

Hi Clinton, I'm learning a lot from you. I recently bought my follow up bike; a KTM 1190. It is very nice to me as it takes me out for a spin. I'm looking forward to the day it will be the other way around but for the moment I'm just happy to get home alive and in one piece.
@superwout
@superwout 7 лет назад
but seriously; I have a steeeeeep learning curve ahead with my orange beast and the thought of leaving the paved roads at this point seems suicidal. I'm considering buying a light, inexpensive dual-sport to practice off-road; WR250R, DRZ 400, XT 250, XR 250 , I suppose 150kg and 250 to 400cc will be better to learn off-road than 230 kg and 1190 cc

trying to remember if 125cc 2-stroke enduro taught me anything about 200kg+ bike, and....huhm.... you could start with lighter and easier unpaved roads etc. carefull with throttle and front brake there, that's most important. and also, if you're not too sure, you can stop and check (on foot), and then go back if you dislike that terrain.

there is one more way, simpler then tipping over. lean the bike a bit left and right few times and the hole will get filled with sand allowing to ride through.

Haha "and then ride out" :) ...so you got stuck there in the first place and if it's really soft sand, its likely that you will just bury it again. With two people, get the assistant to help with a shove off, especially if you are facing an incline. If you are on your own and it's talcum powder - stand next to the bike and give it a push as you let go of the clutch. Either walk it to firmer ground or if you quick and confident, mount up "on the go" (Mount a horse-style). My two cents worth...

I got stuck in the sand yesterday. Worse it was in a ditch. The first method worked for me. It took about 50-60 back and forths to get it out of there though 😂

@szabolcsfejer1338
@szabolcsfejer1338 8 лет назад
nobody seen what dangerous stunt Amanda pulled in the background?? I did the same on pavement, I was holding handlebar with one hand, squatted, and was looking how nice the exhaust manifold is red hot. and the bike was stronger, and I had to let go, it fell the other way. Here ok, that the side stand was down (I had it up), but when Amanda squatted down holding the bike with one hand, the bike easily could have fallen in her direction, and she wouldn't been able to stop it, side stand would just go through sand. No? and the bike was on a hill sideways.
@ronenfe
@ronenfe 4 года назад
actually on sand the bike can stand on it's own without any stands. but she shouldn't bend like that anyway so close to it.

This vide does not show reality, cause you will never stick in stand goind down this is first, on flat first method will work, second very time consuming to, but most riders get stuck going uphill
@ronenfe
@ronenfe 4 года назад
Exactly, then you will need to lay it down , rotate it backwards and go downhill. And you will be without any energy after that.

@@andreyaleksandrov537 way more fun blasting through the sand and up hills with 125 hp than with 15... rode a hillclimb with 70% gradient and loose stones last week and felt like i was the king of the world. you don't get that type of satisfaction, when you just roll up it on a 200cc beta... they have their place, but this is just more fun. at the point, where riding a ktm 300 exc makes fun, you are on the verge of killing yourself. with a 1200 gs you just have to ride into the next forest... rode 3000km last week, 50% offroad. wouldn't want to do that on a drz 400 as well...

thanks rohan, great tip! One issue with being off the bike when getting it off is that it is harder to pull back on the bars just before launching. The other issue is once you are out if you stop in deep sand to get back on ..... you are stuck again! I think I will add your way to the way I teach it just so, riders have a choice which will work in different stuck situations.
