As he points out "the democrats have gone far... the democrats went left" and the republicans "have went far to the right". Because some people are tired of the government as a tool to improve things and just want freedom for people to fend for themselves. I.e. they don't want a government to vote about the direction of in the first place. They just want to solve problems on their own with their local communities. as a non-American, it took me 2 seconds to look his statement about grassroot donations up. Turns out he >did< support it at most times, just not when it actively concerned his own campaign. In the 2008 election, he had the chance to vote to limit campaign donations to 250 USD - which would have been a huge step in the right direction. But he didn't, because he couldn't have won the election without huge contributions from Goldman&Sach's. the difference is that when Trump complains about things, he shouts and points fingers. That is all he does. He is exceptional at complaining, but a very poor diplomatic character. Our political system tends to rock back and forth. Not enough people vote. The ones who do tend to be charged up about something. So when you sitting president is Republican, the Democrats get angry, the Republicans get complacent. Vice versa for Democratic presidents. The past election, the Democrats were complacent enough to let a Republican in. The Republicans were angry and would follow anyone they saw as "strong". They haven't had strong leadership since Bush, so they went with the most vocal. Media outlets couldn't get enough of the verbal click-bait coming from the Republican front runner, so they kept giving him free air time. He didn't have to spend money to get ahead. All his competition had to raise money, and spend it on commercials. The "news" channels fucked us over. The Democrats fucked us over. The Russians and their proliferation of fake news fucked us over.

Obama did a lot right but he forgot about the people that put him in office. He barely did anything he promised, and that is what turned a lot of people off. The genius of Trump was that he said exactly what people wanted to hear. And then to have the media and everyone call people hillbillys and uneducated if they voted for Trump just spurred people on. Also Clinton sank her own campaign.

But could he? My opinion on the American political system (and I did study it to degree level) is that it is needlessly opaque - amendments on bills that are completely unrelated, huge money ruling the leaders of both parties - the point is that nothing can really get done unless you break the rules like Trump. Clinton should never have been on the ballot paper, Sanders was the go to for the democrats and they missed the popular vote there. We have the same 'hillbilly, uneducated' comments about Brexit voters over this side of the pond - thing is, it is unfortunately often accurate. I think Obama was one of the best politicians for a long long time - of any country. Articulate, clear, honest and fair. One of the few that genuinely wanted to improve his country, but was held back by the vested interest inherent in the political system.

We can go on forever on this topic, I will say that Trump and Obama have their fans. Everything Trump/Obama does/did is wrong and he should have done the oppisite, or everything was right. Why is no one inbetween? For a lot of things Trump does wrong he does do some good, the economy is booming right now. That is great, that means more jobs and less inflation ( however long it lasts) yet people who do not like him make it seem like a bad thing and are negative about it. His supporters conversly see no wrong when he says stupid things and so on. Politics is just a shitshow and I am glad that once I close RU-vid i can just carry on with life and ignore all the bullshit.

There is no way for you to game the system because any attempts to use tariffs to get an advantage, only hurts you not us, and it doesn't require you to agree to it at all. This actually encourages both of us to lower taxes on imports etc. allowing the best people at making stuff in both nations to prosper and to specialize in what they are good at. We don't even need to make an agreement as this type of mirrored tariff can just be imposed on people with out their input in the matter and actually works better that way.

Gerrymandering is a shifting of US districts in states to theoretically proportionally represent US citizens for elections following that decade's census. But it's mostly used as a partisan method to redraw districts to get as many constituents who vote a specific way into districts that would typically vote for the other party. For example: Census 2010 ended up allowing Republicans to redraw districts to match their population preferences which allowed them to gain more seats in the house and senate. You may have a few very large cities in a state vote democrat and while typically that would result in atleast some democrat representation in congress, if you draw a district to slice that city in half and gather a bunch of rural votes you'll end up instead with a republican representative. That and the fact that some republicans want to make it difficult for people to vote by reducing mail-in voting and early voting and as of 2020 reducing the number of polling stations in certain cities. There is also a push to include more required identification in order to vote under the argument that elections are being hijacked by illegal immigrants and non-citizens. But, if you can't vote early or mail-in then you have to wait in line to vote in person and depending on where you live and how many polling stations you have you can easily end up waiting over 13 to 17 hours just to cast your vote on election day, if your vote isn't cast too late that is. There are actually videos of those waits if you don't believe me.

All these ads but also alot of the media is sponsored and influenced by one interest group or another. You will rarely know who is behind it and you always have to ask yourself if a "news" really tells the truth or misses important information. Even if the media told always the truth (whivh the surely dont) they can still very easily influence your thinking by just not mentioning opposing viewpoints. And before you start getting angry again: I am not fom the US and I surely don't like Trump.
