On the other hand, Israel has an incredibly powerful army and that there was a failure by the army and security services that made 10/7 possible is evident. That does by no means take away responsibility from Hamas. But I think that Israel has other options to protect its people that does not involve killing innocent civilians which BTW only creates future generations of people that want to kill Israelis. Israel does have a right to defend itself, but self-defence should always try to avoid unnecessary harm and violence. Given that Israel is powerful, self-defence does not make continuing the war a necessity.

That's what ignited what happened on Oct 7, to begin with. Hamas wanted to take in some israeli hostages so they would be able to trade/exchange after getting some leverage.

Except kids aren’t being taught that in public schools anymore. They are taught to view everything through the lens of Critical Theory by activist teachers. That translates into left wing activist students who feel entitled to protest for their causes and shout down other’s free speech (especially conservatives) when they disagree with it.

Separately, I'd also add that if the students were thinking a bit more deeply, they'd realize that if they were to succeed somehow in stopping Israel from continuing the war, they would be allowing Hamas to remain in power. This would be the opposite of "upholding liberal democratic values."

How can you build anything in a country when everything you build gets bombed and you aren't allowed to transport building materials in because of a blockade, and when boats try to bring aid in they get boarded, in an act of piracy according to International Law, by the Israeli Military, and everyone on board secreted away to blacksites in Israel. How? Israel will not allow the conditions for good and stable governance to exist within Occupied Palestinian Territory. They are not even allowed to have an airport. There is no free coming and going. Everything has to be approved by Israel. Since the Palestinians aren't allowed sovereignty, that means Israel is directly responsible for the situation on the ground there, and by extension, for any consequences thereof. I don't condone violence against civilians, and my heart breaks for all suffering, but exactly for that reason, do we not have to sympathize with Palestinians? What would you do in their place? If all your "hard work, sweat, discipline, and diligence" was not allowed to pay off because you were living under a violent occupation. I am pretty sure you would fight back. And call the fighting back by whatever means you had at your disposal self-defense. And when you got genocide-level-attacked in retalliation and the world called that self-defence and called you a terrorist, I bet you'd have a different opinion on this topic...
