Great tips! Being humble is sooo key. I remember thinking the kids had been waiting for someone like me their whole lives and then they could have cared less when I got there. 😂😂😂

this video has saved me from ruining my image, confidence and professionalism at work. I've been working as a paraprofessional and I've become too relaxed, it's only been 3 weeks and I've already "conformed " to the schools strict rules and constant fussing at students. I feel horrible everyday for the way discipline is handled throughout the school. I admit I'm not going above and beyond and I know I can do better, because I want to. this video inspired me to change tomorrow!

Wooow..your spirit and positive energy is soooo MAGNETIC! I feel like it was a blessing that I stumbled across your video because I will be Student Teaching THIS semester and will be graduating THIS Fall! I am extremely grateful, happy, and excited! But, I am also VERY nervous. Especially since I will be facing unique teaching circumstances due to CO-VID. This video most definitely uplifted and encouraged me to expect the unexpected, come prepared for whatever, and to remain optimistic despite WHATEVER. Ugh, I wish you were my mentor. I’d never leave. They’d have to pull me out of there after graduation 😂😂.

I am a Pre-K assistant teacher at the moment.. I started in August and IMMEDIATELY knew I wanted to be a teacher! I am already enrolled in college and start in January. I CAN NOT WAIT! & I am so happy I came across this video! I pray I do an amazing job when it comes time for me to student teach. I feel like I do have some experience already since I am already in the classroom.

THANK YOU! Wow, I have watched a few of your videos today and you’re outstanding. Every time I think about student teaching, I become anxious but excited. I’ll be student teaching this fall. It’ll be a whole lot different due to the pandemic but I’m looking forward to the experience I’ll receive from the difference. I plan to have my own notebook to write notes, ideas, etc. as I student teach this fall. Watching your videos has given me more ideas about how to take on the classroom. At my university, my professors stressed to us that creating those student-teacher relationships are important. I’ll for sure keep watching your videos. I’m so happy I found your channel!

I am a non traditional college student and I find that the stress of life sometimes makes us forget that we should remember not everyone gets this chance. I know I am lucky to have a husband and kids that supported my decision. I will be student teaching spring of 2019!

One FAB Teacher I'm in high school and we have a student teaching program which I'm a part of my first year which was last year was awesome! I worked in my first year with 8th grade 7th grade sixth grade second grade first grade kindergarten and Pre-K.This year I will be certified by my state and School District as a substitute teacher and after college I don't need worry about finding the right District because when I get my Master's in education and graduate I get certified as an actual teacher they will hire me

Thank you for sharing your tips with us! I will student teach in January and I am thinking of what my portfolio should be. When you went on interviews, did you take just one portfolio to those interviews?

+Roderick Woodard You're very welcome! Yes, I just took that one portfolio. I only took it to one, because my first interview I accepted the job immediately. However, my plan at the time was to just take that one portfolio. ((Hugs))

+Roderick Woodard honestly, I was talking and showing at the same time. So they were looking while I was explaining. So I was able to get mine right back. I've heard most give it right back. I guess for me I'd rather teach adjunct or full tenure college level. I don't do children or teens. I so agree with you on all of these, I'm 50 something, and I definitely pride myself on being astute and professional. I've worked in State and City government for a total of 20 Years so

I am currently working in La Petite Academy! I do Preschool during the year and school age when they return from school. During summer I only work in school Age classroom and I have 1 child in particular that is extremely disrespectful and rude not only to me but the other teachers as well. I feel like I've tried everything to show him I care about him and want him to do better but It doesn't seem to work. Do you have any advice? Are you going to do any videos on how you deal with children that are misbehaving?

+V A wow!!! I worked at La Petite for like 5 years!!!! It was so fun!!!! Have you tried natural consequences? For example, if he's being disrespectful and rude when it's time for fun play or recess he must stay in and practice the right way to speak to people? He must practice it a few times then apologize to who he disrespected and the. He can play. I do plan on doing a video on how to handle disrespectful/ misbehaving children. ((Hugs))
