So, no responsibility should fall on the University President to take action against the outright acts of hate occurring on their campuses, when students and faculty are too afraid to go to work and school?
The degree of moral cowardice on display by these administrators is absolutely disgraceful They should be fired immediately and not allowed to resign with any sense of dignity. This is appalling. -- miaow.
It's absolutely disgusting that supporters of terrorism have more rights in this country than peaceful law abiding Canadians. Canada has become an embarrassment.
I wonder if people who throw the word "antisemitism" around actually understand that the definition of a Semite is someone who speaks an Abrahamic language like Hebrew OR Arabic.
@@natalia18233 It's a phrase used by Zionists who think they are the only humans and everybody else are animals. The people who blindly repeat it don't understand that they fall into the latter category.
Dr. Carr is appalling! Sounds like he has done nothing to help jewish students. Time to see who donates money to these universities and boycott them until universities do something about the illegal behaviour of their Hamas students.
He has enabled it and he’s your typical closet antisemite. He has contempt for Melissa because she’s Jewish and a Jewish woman. He is a disgrace and should be removed from office.
This man actually represents everything I have come to expect from Universities, professors and administration. They don't have to be accountable because they are tenured, have never had real life jobs, ran businesses etc. Its so wide open for everyone to see
Dr. Carr supports these people, and you can tell by his demeanor. Its time for donor to stop the flow of money to these schools just like they did in the US.
There used to be ZERO tolerance of bulling. University and college that support this negative behavior, need to see $ZERO dollar of government money and donations.
So just so I can get this clear. the University President or the board of directors will not take action on their own policies and rules on code of conduct. to stop HATE speech from resident and temporary foreign students. I would only suggest a lot of the protestors are not even students. I would also suggest the University instruct all registered students report to a general meeting on a set date and time to weed out the no-registered students protesting (trespassing). The students will have to show and prove they are registered for classes and pass through metal detectors and subject themselves and bags to be searched before entering the meeting. With all of the hate speeches and chants, I am thinking this is not a safe place for anyone. Just another question I'm wondering is would there be any liability on the University if an unfortunate event should happen on the property of the University?
This indulgence of racism and childish behaviour on behalf of both sides is mind blowing. Every single school in North America needs to take a page out of Calgary’s book
For starters, the fences at U of T should have been taken down long ago. Once the fencing is used as a barricade with gatekeepers, the demonstration becomes an occupation. An occupation combined with hate speech, aggression and disguises will never result in a positive outcome. Everyone has the right to their opinions and the right to protest. This is not a protest. It’s an occupation and a distraction.
This is a direct result of critical theory and decolonization. No diversity of thought means universities have become very skewed to the left. Decolonization always makes on group an oppressor and the other an oppressed. The number of these students who were stating after October 7th, “that’s what decolonization looks like” should give people chills regarding their view of what should happen to “colonial oppressors” in Canada.
Most ignorant people I have ever seen, with alphabet soup after their names. I will never send my children to these universities now. Ashamed to be a UofT alumna.
What a waste of Ms. Lantsman's time. She is dealing with a forever bureaucrat, a quisling desperately curating his legacy and not interested in displaying honour or integrity to the student body.
Ahhh yes, good ol'paper works due process schools keep talking about..that will take care of everything, in time, at some point, maybe - probably never, well really just so long as people forget while time wastes away. I'd like to have a break down of these processes to see how many steps there actually are. Probably no ones even doing them. Probably allocated to one staff member who's always on holidays.
Melissa you sat there across from a dyed in the wool antisemite - I admire you for being professional knowing this person enables the unacceptable behaviour toward Jewish students.
Another important point is....when neighboring Arab countries have welcomed Palestinians (Jordan, Lebanon, Kuwait) it has ALWAYS resulted in disaster - civil war/conflict/terrorism in these previously (previous to welcoming Palestinians) peaceful Arab nations and TO THIS DAY - Arab Nations refuse to accept Palestinian refugees and no one wonders why? -hmmmm
Unfortunately it’s not just the Jewish students, it’s also the students who support and stand with the Jewish students and communities that are at risk. This is a dangerous precedent that these universities are setting by not getting a hold of this situation
Concordia has about 45,000 students. Because of a few hundred unpleasant disrespectful students the whole student community is disturbed and some students are being harassed. This is beyond insane.
I would like to state some ideas that I think would help bring back communication between the people and politicians and accountability to politicians. #1 If they avoid a question in the house of commons during question period, they get fined for wasting time and tax dollars. #2 If they avoid too many questions they are fired without a pension. This should bring some accountability for avoiding questions. #3 We make a site for canadian citizens where we can list questions and then vote on them and the top 5-10 questions get asked at every meeting. This should help the politicians understand what the people are really saying. #4 When politician is finished their term, the people get to vote on if they get a pension or not. This would help with the problem of how they only care about the people during voting time and once its over they toss us under the bus. #5 The people have the power to kick out elected people instead of the politicians being the ones who control themselves. This again would stop them from throwing the people under the bus after they get elected.
Great job, Melissa! I think universities should refund tuition, get rid of the protesters I never see them again!! Big favor to other students, academic staff the rest of Canadians!
I sincerely hope something comes out of this! What's going on here in Canada and the fact that we are allowing it is utterly disgusting. We are sending a message and it's the wrong one. Actions should have consequences and these universities are giving these people a free pass while their demands increase.
"Behavioural Case's"??? Clearly he's not working hard enough. The level of sloth coming from this guy is notably lacking in sincerity and integrity. Unreal. No one has been suspended because 'processes' are ongoing...🐌 What does it take to get 'any' accountability?? 🔥🔥🔥👈
I do not understand why after "trespassing the students that the UofT now needs and injunction to have the police remove them. Can anyone please explain this to me?
That one guy has been an undergrad FOR 8 YEARS. Yeah safe to say they haven't cared about their students in a while. How is that even allowed, at some point they must have been on academic probation cause that's wild.
Cannot answer a question...must have went to same school as liberal cabinet, masters of deflection. Thank you Melissa Lantsman for fighting the good fight.
