Wow this is weird because I like you said all I have ever heard is how horrible the Indians for how the US government literally kidnap these children from their families took them away and made them stay away from their families for years at a time without even being able to see their biological family forcing them to not speak their native tongue forcing them to become Christian forcing them to do all sorts of things in Canada there digging up dead bodies that were buried at some of these schools but these people love it they come back every year to worship it so obviously the US government did not harm the Indians at the school these schools were nothing but beneficial to the Indians at least the ones that went there maybe the other ones are trying to do something different I don't get it but how can there be two completely opposite stories of the same exact incident somebody is lying
There were many of these types of schools, that spanned a long period of time. My grandmother was the first generation to be removed from her traditional family circle way of life and forced into one of these schools at the age of 6. Not knowing how to speak English, and locked up to a radiator heater in an attic for two days with no food or water, and otherwise beaten into submission. Most of the children died from tuberculosis, and malnutrition. She was lucky to survive her ordeal.
