For me Dutch is so useless and it doesn’t even sound good, but what you already said interest in someone culture or people can make you want to learn a language. I would love to learn Spanish or French, because Spanish is more value and French sounds beautiful plus my family lives in France. Good luck or veel succes( in Dutch) with learning Dutch! Oh maybe you can also share your tips for learning so many languages. Maybe I would start learning French.

You can say in your own language to Google assistent 'change my language', but dont use it as your first language it Will be more difficult. PS: i learned dutch the same way 😅

I changed my keyboard languages as second languages, and the configuration of Google so that it doesn't translate Dutch websites into Spanish automatically. Lareze DB Afrikaans always sounds so creative to me. Also some of your words make way more sense than the Dutch translation. We had a blast when the world cup was in South Africa and Afrikaans was a topic in all kinds of commercials and such.

@@cristina_garcia The one where they speak about Dutch cuisine (it's delicious), the one about cycling in The Netherlands (it's much safer than cars and helmets are way overprotective and stupid), the ones about Sinterklaas en Zwarte Piet (it's not racist whatsoever!), and the one about their biggest surprise when they first came here (our shit smell is sacred to us) to name a few.

I saw the one of Dutch cuisine and both of Sinterklaas and Zwarte Piet, but I haven't seen the ones of cycling and the things which surprised them. You're right about it. They have a bad image of Dutch cuisine, but I find it very nice. In my opinion, some of those people come from countries where food has a lot of spices, so they aren't used to simpler dishes. I prefer natural flavours like your typical dinner with chicken, potatoes and vegetables. We have in Spain many kinds of kroketten, so I'm used to it. And now I have a very nice new: a supermarket is selling a Spanish version of "stroopwafels", or maybe they're imported from the Netherlands. I haven't seen them yet. You see that not all foreigners hate Dutch food. 😉 If you're interested, I saw two videos about American kids trying Dutch food. We don't need bicycle helmets, because our infrastructure is so good. Bikes have their own roads, and they barely come in touch with cars. And where cows graze, there lies poop. We make the finest cheese in the world. And about Zwarte Piet, there are traditions where people paint their faces black all around the globe. In Iran, you have 'Hajji Firuz', and it's considered 'cultural heritage'. Why does painting your face black has to be racist? Do we think less about actual black people? No! Ever since I was a kid, I've known the difference between Zwarte Pieten and actual black people. I can say that Christmas elves are racist against people with dwarfism, or that the Sugar Festival of muslims is racist against people with diabetes. Both Christmas elves and Zwarte Pieten are fictional characters. Piet is black because he went down the chimney many, many times. That's the story. We love Zwarte Piet, we don't want it to change, and anyone that has a problem with it, get out of my beautiful country. Zwarte Pieten are black, Smurfs are blue, if you can't live with it, than The Netherlands is not for you.

I was eating Edan for dinner. It's delicious, with cream texture and soft flavour. About Zwarte Piet and all other traditions, there's another reason to paint the face in black. It's not making the real people recognizable. In the town of Spain which I mentioned, young people are the helpers of the Three Wise Men. Children are happy to receive gifts from them. If they saw their real faces, then they would be dissapointed. It's more beautiful to image that the gifts come from helpers of the Three Wise Men, and these helpers come from Africa and Arabia. We don't want to laugh at black people neither. It's a honour to have the image of nice helpers for children. They're like lots of Spanish Zwarte Pieten. It's a tradition we won't change. Your examples of different traditions and the racism made me laugh. It was great. Halloween is discriminatory to dead people then. 🤣😂About helmets, they weren't compulsory inside of cities some years ago. But law changed and we have to wear them everywhere now. Our case is different, there are a few cycling paths in most part of towns. In big cities, there are good ones, but in small towns, it's not so frequent to go cycling. We have much to learn from The Netherlands in this ecological sense. We need to improve and spread the use of bicycles. And finally, I agree: your country is beautiful. I wouldn't have any problems to live there and integrate in Dutch society. 🙂
