im a furry myself, but honestly, do not wear a fursuit to school. its just going to be embarrassing for both you and others, and stuff like this is going to happen. its usually ok to wear stuff like cat ears (i see some girls at my school do it daily), but dont bring paw-pads or anything like that. save your fursuits for when you can go to conventions, or just at home/at a friend or supportive relative’s house.

Animals don’t go to school. If you want to be an animal you will eat dog/cat food off the ground. You will use the restroom outside and sleep on a mat on the floor. Our local animal shelter had a fundraiser and named it "furry fest". In my mind I pictured half the room being animal lovers and the other half perverts just staring at each other wondering who was in the wrong place.

As a random furry myself (which I'm not afraid to admit it), I would like to give two cents on this manner. Based on some videos covering this issue, I believe in what the kids were describing are actually therians. I wish most people would do their research before casting their judgement on the furry fandom, since they always been the butt of a joke since forever. The therians are basically individuals who believed that they're spirit animals trapped in human bodies (Believe me, I actually researched this stuff), hence they would often walk on four and tends to behave like wild animals. A furry on the other hand, is a fan of anthropomorphic animals, which are animal characters with human qualities. Unlike the therians, some furries uses an entire costume to represent themselves as their own OCs they've created and that's simply called fur suiting. I have nothing against with therians, but hearing what the kids are dealing with such as therians intimidating or straight up bully them like biting and spraying chemicals. And the school administrations refused to intervene, then yes, there should be accountability, because their behavior is unacceptable.

Completely ridiculous. I have never seen a more discombobulated school in my entire life. This is not a place to dress up, this is an educational institute. Although you should be able to attend school as who you are, there are definitely some limitations to that and dressing up as an animal and BITING people is not okay.

A different, independent reporter talked to the actual students who revealed they have been getting bitten, scratched, sprayed with aerosol sprays, and there is, in fact, litter boxes in the bathrooms. Why on earth would a bunch of children make all of that up? They have enough to worry about. They dont feel safe.

Kids can play pretend, let's use a cowboy as an example, but when you go to school/ public you aren't a cowboy anymore.

One of the teachers actually said the real offenders were part of the group walking out which made for a finally peaceful day.

Allowing emotionally distressed children to hide from the world via polyester fur is not a good, healthy option. The level of acceptance being coerced here is incredible; or rather, it’s incredible that school authorities have succumbed to such unhealthy indulgences which do not at all aid a child’s wellbeing, and it’s incredible that culturally, this type of treatment is somehow become normalized. No one wants to do the harder work of truly bringing the child into their life. Keep an open mind. Just not so far that your brain falls out.
