Watch artists and co-instructors Wesley Fleming and Emilio Santini collaborate in the flameshop as they demonstrate for their class at The Studio. They teach sculptural flameworking using soda lime (soft) glass.
Wesley Fleming
Wesley Fleming uses flameworking to mimic insects using glass, complete with intricate details on the tiny legs and thorax. Fleming finds great joy in sculpting glass, witnessing the transformation of a brittle and cold substance to a molten and pliable material, then back to a solid form again.

Emilio Santini
Emilio Santini is originally from Murano, Italy, and comes from a family with centuries of tradition in glass blowing. His glass work spans from lamp-working to glass blowing, from casting to diamond point engraving. He currently resides in Blacksburg, Virginia, and is dedicating more time to his first love: writing poetry and fiction, with a particular focus on the glass world, past and present.

I have had the honor of learning from both of these amazing artists at the former Something Phishy studio in Massachusetts. Much gratitude to both for all the wisdom you share; it has helped make me a better glass artist.
