Have your gal hide the knife. I like your work ethic. I have been watching you go through what I'm going through, a monitor upgrade that will put a smile on my face with no remorse. In the end I just ordered my 1st audio interface, a UAD Apollo Twin MKii Duo with Mogami Gold cable rather than the USB DAC I was using. You will make a good choice for you and I enjoy watching the demo's. New monitors have to wait until next year. Now to Spotify to hear your jam.

Great choice for monitor brand Jon. Adams are my favorite, a friend of mine and Grammy nominated engineer works with this brand. I myself am looking at the Adams A77x

Because they have such a strong bass response, do you feel like you have to overcompensate in the mix? Boosting the bass more than you think necessary for it to translate to other mediums?

beyond speaker flatness and dynamics ... which translate the best when you move to a car and other speakers that most people listen on? Like if I get the HS8 Yamahaa will that be an accurate sound that translates to a car? I wanted the Adam A7x to get something that will last.... right now I'm on little Fostex speakers, and while the quality and sound is good... it is very bright and doesnt translate on other audio systems. I have to make the overall tracks very muddy ... then they sound normal on other speakers. SOMEONE PLEASE HELP WITH GOOD SPEAKER ADVICE!

I'd recommend you testing the HEDD Type 20 as they have lots of Bass and cool features, the Lineariser & Bridge. I tested them against the Neumann KH310 which i then had chosen. So i would test them as well. Super linear and honest speakers! Incredible low end... Best one in that price class imo. And a little cheaper than the S3V ;)

Hi Jon, I'm using my Power Dynamics (5inch woofer) monitors for over 5 years now. I want to do an upgrade. Besides the Yamaha you mentioned in this video, what else can you recommend? My PD5 were affordable, sounds great but they are not powered separately. The nice thing is that my speakers have Kevlar woofers and bi-amping. I'm not content with the sound anymore. I bought them in 2012 for approximately €200 (as a pair) My budget is about €400 to €500. I would really appreciate it if you can give me some advice. I know that it is important to hear new speakers with my own ears and test them, but there is too many speakers to choose from. Cheers!

I'll just keep using my HS7's for now. I'm not even mixing my music much at the moment and I still have to get some acoustic treatment at some point. I was actually adwised by the seller in the store not to buy any treatment before I knew my monitors well enough. But have had these monitors for over a year now haha.

Do review of the speakers. I think that if u are working in acustic untreated room is good to mix 50% on headphones ( i have beyerdinamic dt 990 becouse they are open back headphones so i can place elements in stereo field more accurately) and 50% on studio monitors. And if u mix in acustic treated room is ok to mix 80% on studio monitors and just 20% on headphones. Just a small tip. ☺🎶🎧

CHARLES 13X The hs5 have a lot of mids but the hs7 and hs8 are completely different , especially the hs8 which sounds realy balanced and flat

thatDPguy pretty much the same as HS7’s but with an extended low end. If you tried a pair of the focals, you wouldn’t go back. Trust!

I would never use rear ported speakers unless you a lot of space in back of them. That’s one of the reasons I bought Focal Evo’s. Not to mention they were open box and almost 50% off. Great find!

Your new Adams seem impressive. Are they worth $5K a pop? That's up to your and your budget. But having sufficient low end on your mains makes for better phase and time alignment. I use a sub due to space constraints and while it works, sometimes the phasing sounds a bit out of whack.

John Irby THIS!! I think this is exactly where these new Adam series shine. The cone is a different shape, I read that the transients and phase, is very very tight on these. And the fact that they have a DSP inside that you can adjust to your needs is amazing.

When you do US dollars. We use commas to express numbers above 999. So anything like 1,000 or 1,789,257 for example. We only use periods . when needing to express numbers below 1, like .36.

the dynaudio bm6as or 8 are the most accurate especially with a bass woofer, you hear everything, isolate phase cancellation during mixes faster, straight to the source

Those are nice speakers but overkill in terms of price and size for your studio. I think u should really checkout the HEDD TYPE 07s. They are a third of the price and perfect size for your studio. Excellent technology by Mr Heinz who was the man behind the design of the Adams range. HEDD ( Heinz electrodynamic designs ) Good luck with your new song!

It would've been better if you had the same brand, Because the biggest difference in sound isn't the different models it's the brand. But cool! Another nice thing that you could do is having the same size on the woofer. So the only difference is the technical aspects and the materials. Not size, brand or anything else (for more accurate results) 👍

Not sure what the heck this video clip was, as I learned absolutely nothing about anything. What a way to spend 10 1/2 minites, gee-whiz. Little historical background, Behringer was probabbly the first company started by a German chap who realized that he has to make the products in low labor cost China, not in Germany where you have sky-high taxes and you have emlloyees that get 8-week paid vacations. Then cam the people behind Eve Audio, Adam Audio, etc. What's next, Lucifer Audio? Now, maybe SOME of the parts are being made in Germany or elsewhere in Europe, and some of the assempbly work is done there also, but that only means that your final street price is going to be sky-high. I cannot understand and justify the cost of these particular Adam monitors, and I would get the Class A-B amplified midfieled KRK Rokit RP10-3s with the 10-inch woofer (insterad of the 9-inch that these Adams here have) and for but a fraction of the Adam's high-level Germanic price.

about how producer could hear difference between speaker.. if you have enough knowledge and experience to test out different speaker or headphone between a big price point, you probably can hear the difference.. I started off as an audiophiler, I try quite a lot headphone in a somehow big difference price point.. I kinda can translate the performance of some headphone if it should be on a price point, and somehow this skills served me well for the speaker as well..

@@Jonsine Hi Jon about yamaha you mean yamaha hs8 model? are you sure the a77x sound close to yamaha hs8 because i was thinking that a 1000k$ 3 way monitor would possibly be way better than yamaha:) to be honest i have krk vxt8 and genelec 8040 and i have listen to adam a7x and compare to yamaha hs8 all these monitors are like 80% better in my opinion(translate better imho)..so i was thinking the 3 way a77x would be e lot better even from those monitors i mentioned:)

Seems pretty overkill. Why not just get some Genelec M040 or Adam A7X? Maybe even the Neumann KH 310A. They are expensive but don't cost 5k. The S3V are not even nearfield monitors, they are midfield.

@Vulkan_Music, Spotify services are *yet* to be launched in India.. It's just the office that has been set-up, not everything hehe. Try keeping an eye open for news regarding that, I got to know about it a couple of days back actually. And don't worry, I'm from the same city ^.^

Not being able to hear bass is most likely an acoustic problem of your small room. Acoustic Treatment would be the way smarter investment imo.

The entire room is treated to the Max. Very flat +-2,5 dB and perfect reverb time.

I dont think low frequencies are not most difficult to get right, this is the first time ive heard that... Also, the driver size should be calculated by room dimensions and not if you want more bass - buy bigger woofer hahaha
