Nice to see Armin, who has seen every part of the world and lots of studios, so impressed by the gear and so interested in what and how Tom works. Both guys show respect to each other. This was not fake, but the relaxed Dutch way. And yes... Real men do sweat when they are enjoying things! :-)
@@AlexeyFilippenkoPlummet Its stressful as hell, most of these guys suffer from mental problems. Its not glamorous as people think, 90% of the times you compose what the director of the movie wants not what you think it's best
+1 Agreed, I did too! ;) (was actually checking if years of living in the states would have altered his accent (like for example with Jan-Harm Pol or Jan de Bont), but no)
Hoi Tom, ontdekte vandaag je youtube kanaal. Echt heel tof dat je zoveel deelt over je productie en arrangeer technieken. Inspirerend! Bedankt en keep it up!
Tom is such an inspiration!! To transition from Electronic music to film scoring with such success and then being a gear junkie!! Hoping to follow in his footsteps
Such a good feeling after watching this video Tom. I can really relate to it when one of my old friends drop by at the studio. It was great seeing the 2 maestros talk to each other and catch up on what they're upto. I think Armin is gonna consider joining the film league now as well, he did look like he's done with EDM styled music. Great video!
it's bad ass to see such a professional that uses cubase!! and there's no hidden smoke and mirrors, let's just keep fueling our passions and anything is possible. one day I will do what I love full time.
Naaaaa... You cant compare a crap Laptop with VST's To emulate the same sound production of all those fricking Modules..... Its super cool. The level of creativity/Space/Detail/ and etc is not from a single program. I wish i had money to spend for at least like a 300-900 synthesizer. Pay more mortgage than fricking 2 lambos so sucks.
How come you've said almost nothing (from what I can tell, haven't watched every second of your videos) about your still relatively huge eurorack system? Seems like you mostly care about your 5U, so why even have the euro there? "It takes a lot of effort to get something out of it which means it sounds personal by default." You summed up perfectly the attraction of modular synths. For me coming from an instrumental music background, it's among the only electronic instruments I've been able to use/own that feels like a real instrument (the other is the Dominion 1).
Thank you for sharing. That overview of your workflow in the end, and how picture lock never really exists; makes it increasingly challenging for composers these days to lock a score in.
