(TDLR: more advanced and more basic stuff. A lot of channels cover the middle ground) To answer your question: the nerdier, the better, but most definitely keep the graphics! Every video that makes me think of a different usage for my rack is welcome. The composition approach sound really interesting, so the viewers not only know how the patch works, but also how you get there. Good beginners guides are a blessing for people getting into eurorack, so if you enjoy doing those, keep doing them. I assume the point of your beginner case is that people can recreate those patches on their computers, which sounds like a really good idea.
@MonotrailTechTalk
@MonotrailTechTalk Год назад
Thanks! Indeed a mix of plans. But good to hear you also like a variety of things! I will for sure keep the graphics, and a focus on new-to-eurorack people. Also have to admit I enjoy diving into topics like the Leibniz system and DROID, but hose videos do take about twice as long as a more 'simple' starter tips video. So will keep videos mixed for sure :) Cheers!

Happy New Year! I think you excel at explaining complex stuff. For example, I think your Leibniz videos were stellar, and I’d most love to see that taken even further with Poczdam, Ostankino, etc. ADDAC demos are also always so welcome, because they tend to otherwise not get the attention they deserve. You also expressed interest in doing more on composition, which is also always interesting.

Hi! I'm starting my modular journey this year, and your channel helped me in this decision. As a newbie, I like your videos where you show how to creatively use certain type of module. This helps when your modular setup is small and you looking for new piece of hardware. More videos like this will be appreciated! Writing music is also interesting topic, but I have small twist to this: writing music on modular without additional processing software. Thank you for your excellent work, and have a great 2023!

Thanks for your expert tutelage! Although there are many module demonstrators who spend a bit of time on theory, I appreciate your focus on concepts that can be applied in general to creating music on a modular instrument. Along those lines, I'd like to see you create some videos that detail your creative and performance process. I find it hard to dechiper the patches of many modular videos, but you make it easy. This is my favorite modular channel. The way you explain things matches very well how I approach learning - the graphics, the functional breakdown of the building blocks of each patch while treating the patch as a whole have all been very helpful. Last but definitely not least is that I really enjoy your music as well. I've been gradually listening through your jams on the non-tech talk channel, enjoying them quite a bit and basically discovering a new musical landscape that I was not aware of prior to starting dabbling with modular. I understand why the majority of other modular/synth content is gear "reviews", but those are the types of videos I tend to avoid now. Even assuming that the sole purpose of producing video content for RU-vid is advertisement translating into me as the content consumer purchasing gear, the most effective type of video for that purpose in my case have been performances that have inspired me or tech talks that have made me learn more about modular synthesis in general. I do hope, however, that it remains possible and viable for my favorite creators to make videos independently of advertisement revenue streams... and with that I'm off to Patreon.
@MonotrailTechTalk
@MonotrailTechTalk Год назад
Thank you! And thanks for sharing! Indeed Patreon is massive game changer. To be honest I enjoy diving into new stuff myself sometimes, as I am just curious about nice companies making interesting modules with new concepts. But I hardly get paid for that, and in the future I plan to almost never chase new releases, just talk about interesting things whenever I like. Indeed though, about 95% of the money I make through this channel is through Patreon. As the people there are starting to fund parts of my life I plan to ask the same there, and create good content for patrons! All the best wishes for you!

Basic synthesis techniques and creative ways of using them would be my pick for videos to make! I really enojoy the nerdy details on deep dives on specific modules as well. Please never stop doing the patch examples with visuals, I would even say this concept can be expanded to highlight the difference an interesting module can make depening on its role in the patch example. For example same patch with slow LFO, fast LFO, synced LFO etc. So basically I am saying detailed musical patches yes please too :)

@MonotrailTechTalk Год назад
Hello! Thanks for the message. I have to say I also enjoy the nerdy deep-dives. It's fun for me to learn about complex original stuff like DROID and the Leibniz system. But also takes a lot of time, and I notice it's not for everyone. Which is fine of course. A lot of people mentioned it. All the best!

i watch most of your videos whether i'm interested in the module or not because of your patch ideas, it often sparks an idea of something to do with my own setup. one thing i'd love to see/hear more about is people's "philosophies" of patching/writing/performing, not just how to do it but why you do it, what your goals are, what you want in a live performance/recording. i'm down for the esoteric discussion

Glad to hear it! I always try to put a lot of valuable patch ideas in videos that can be done with alternate or other modules as well, unless it's something like the Leibniz system.
