Thank you so much for the info, it came at the time I needed it the most.... I have a few questions to ask 1)Do I need to submit a statement of purpose to the supervisor 2) do I need an academic reference letter 3) since I'll be sourcing for teaching assistantship, do I need to submit proof of funds while applying for my student visa? Is there an exception for those who have a way to offset the tuition

Hi Lynda, 1. Yes you need to submit statement of purpose (if you have a supervisor, this will likely not affect your admission) 2.Yes you need references.Typically , you will provide their email addresses and the school ( the one you’re applying to) will contact them. So all you need to do is to inform the lecturers that you are using as references 3. If you have teaching assistantship and other funds, you just need to prove to immigration that you can afford your flight and cost of living. Usually around 10,000 per year. I hope this helps. 😊

Great video. I was lucky to get a scholarship (MasterCard) that covered everything into McGill University in 2019. Covered flights from home all the way to graduation return flight (if you want to go back home). It was just by Grace of God. All I had to do is get my passport and hop onto the plane...lol

Thank you so much Aba. Please I had a question, I am applying to UBC and I have an informal chat with a supervisor soon. However the school websites state that admission isn’t based on supervisors but from the faculty. I am a bit confused on this but you are also advised to reach out to supervisors you would love to work with .

I want to thank both of you so much for this great insight! Really needed this. I intend going for the January 2023 master’s winter intake. Though I’ve been quite indecisive on what course to undertake, and also the ideal length, especially regarding my eligibility for PGWP. I’ve always wanted to work in either the development or humanitarian sector. I have a one year and 4 months experience in the development sector. I’m about to enroll in humanitarian related courses. Please what advice do you have for me, especially as time is ticking so fast. I should have began my application process by now, but this is where I’m at, at the moment. My undergraduate degree was in Mass Communication, and with specific jobs being in demand in Canada, it’s been a bit confusing if I should do an MA in Organizational communication or in Digital Marketing because I also have a knack for photography as well. Also, please what’s the difference between doing a master’s in a college and university? I’d be more than delighted if you can guide me regarding this. Thank you so much in anticipation for your response!

Hii Nneka I am not doing a research paper because in my school (university of Ghana) when you combine your courses you do not do any research paper so does it mean I cannot get a supervisor? Please help thanks

I don't think that is what it means. I know people who got into a thesis program in Canada without prior research experience. If possible, I'd advise you to get a mini article you can present as a writing sample. This will show that you have some experience and can undertake research study. Best of luck!

Thanks for this video. I won a scholarship (Erasmus Mundus) which covered tuition, stipends (1,000 euros/month), and flight tickets (7,0000 euros in total) for all four semesters based on the different countries we studied in. I'd love to share more with you, if you want. Looking forward to emigrating to Canada in the fall semester, hopefully.

@@iyanu it was a thesis-based program. I had published my undergrad thesis but I doubt that had a bearing on my admission prospects, since applicants weren’t required to have done that before applying. The selection criteria are/were pretty simple but I think a stronger GPA makes it rather easy to get.

Hi It all depends on how you want to apply for your visa. There are two ways you could apply: online or paper. If you go for the online route, all your documents have to be scanned and submitted through the portal provided online. I don’t have much knowledge on GIC but when i do, I’ll definitely update you. Hope this helps

It depends on the school. Some schools will ask during the application, if you need teaching assistantship. Others will require you to have a separate application. To confirm, you can email the graduate administrator ( you can get their email address on the school’s website) about how you can apply. I hope this answers your question.

You’ll basically let him or her know that you are interested in their research and try to convince them why you are a great fit. Also attach your cv, transcript or any necessary document to the email.
