I've tried to include as much information about studying at KU Leuven as possible but if you have any more questions, things you want to know about then definitely do not hesitate to leave me a comment down below! ;)
Thanks for the informative video Laura. Could you please provide more information about job opportunities in Belgium or neighbouring countries for Master in Business Economics degree holders from KUL?
I’m from southeast asia. i really want to study in europe and enjoy my time there but I thought it was too expensive... this video really opens my eyes. Thank you so much Laura ❣️
Thank You Laura, I have been admitted to KU Leuven for the fall 2020 and I am searching for information about the university and your video was really very helpful. Keep doing the great work.
Thank you so much for sharing the information, I got accepted by KUL and planning to study in Leuven this September. btw I am also in an international relationship, I have been with my Belgian bf for over four years. so excited to find your channel !
Wow that's great! :D I really hope you'll enjoy your time at KU Leuven and learn a lot ;) I'm really happy to hear that you enjoyed my channel :D I have a lot more fun content planned for the coming time ;)
Very informative and well organised video. It's one of the best i should say about Belgium University information!! Have you done any video about UC Leuven-Limburg? Would appreciate if you could tell me something about it..
Hi Siddharth 👋 I’m glad to hear it was helpful to you! I’m going to upload a new video about Ku Leuven with more information really soon so I’ll be sure to include a part where I’ll be talking about the cost of accommodation!
Heyy, love ur videoss!! Please make more videos about KU Leuven cuz I'm gonna apply for this year and I can't find enough info, then I found you :). Make more and inform us pleaseee 😩
Thank you so much for making this, it is so hard to find information like this. I wanted to ask, will I be able to get by (In Belgium/Leuven Area) without speaking Dutch? I can speak French and English, but I do not know a word of Dutch.
Hi Paul! If you can speak French and English then you won't have a problem I think ;) In Leuven there aren't too many people who speak French but English gets you a long way!! If you learn a couple of basic dutch words during your stay you'll be completely fine!! :D
Hi Laura...thanks for the informative video! If a foreign student wants to learn Dutch while studying another course at Leuven, what are her options? and does the rigorous course work leave time for attending Dutch classes?
Hi! I think it is definitely possible to study Dutch and attend some Dutch courses while studying another course but it depends on the course whether you'll have a bit more time for it or if there is a lot of course work.
I want to thank you for your effort 🤍 I'm a international student and I've admitted at ku leuven , I wish I had seen your video before 😅❤ but I'm doing my visa application right now You really will help many students and make it more easy for them 👏 And excuse my English if I have mistakes 😂😂 Best regards 🤝
Hi Syed! Thank you for your question! I'm uploading a new KU Leuven related video next week where I'll be answering this question as well as other questions in-dept, so please stay tuned ;)
So you studied Japanology at KU-Leuven university and came to Japan as an exchange student. Now you are in Japan ...Life is sometimes very unimaginable....!!
JLPT . N5 yes I did come to Japan at first as an exchange student but now I’m here to study at a Japanese language school! :) thank you for watching!!!
Great video Laura, very informative. Just a quick question: are there any high school grade requirements in general or is the diploma (and English exam) the only requirement? For example, if a certain GPA mark is needed to have a shot at the application (and if so, which is)? Thanks for the video!
Hi, thank you for watching and I'm glad to hear that it was helpful :D I double checked for you with KU Leuven about the admission requirements and as long as you are a native speaker of English you won't have to hand in a proficiency certificate upon application. For most degrees there is no set GPA mark that you have to have to be able to apply. You just need to have your High school diploma. The reason why there's no set GPA mark is because the Belgian government believes that all students should have equal access to higher education. It's not hard to get in in most cases but it's super hard to graduate I would say. Often 50% of students already drop out or change degrees in the first year. What are you interested in studying at Ku leuven? Hope you'll have a nice Wednesday! :D
Hello. .. Ik heet Peter ik kum uit Nigeria and I got admitted to STUDY IBM at KDG HOGESCHOOL in Antwerp. I am really excited all your information has been really helpful for my preparation, as you can might have observed I already even started learning Dutch/Flemish but with this Corona virus everything hangs in the air I hope it all gets better . Thanks for your endeavours to help us out anyway wishing you the best in your future endeavours also. Hope to see you in Belgium.... lastly hope we can get a video on why it is easy to gain admission into belgian universities and hard to stay there.... you opinion would be great to hear.
Hi Peter! Thank you for leaving me a comment, or like we'd say in Dutch dankje! It's great you're already studying Dutch, I think I can speak for a lot of Belgian and Dutch people that they love it when people from other countries speak Dutch! I hope your study at KDG hogeschool can take place without any problems! Thank you for the suggestion as well! I will make a part 2 of this video to discuss why it's easy to get admitted but hard to stay in and combine it probably with a few other questions I've gotten in the comment section here :)
Hey Laura, thank you for your video despite me being a year late😅. I will be applying to the 2022 September LLM program and wanted to ask about the assessments in Belgium. I graduated from the uk where assessments were written exams and you could show your opinion but back it up; how different is KU Leuven from this. Another thing is all of Belgium taking a low tuition for all stance or is it mainly the government of Flanders?
Hello, can you help me with some questions that I am not very clear about. I want to study genetic and molecular engineering and I would like to know if the cost is the same as mentioned in the video for this branch as well? I would also like to know if I have to take an entrance exam?
Hi there, just wanna correct you on UCLL and KUL. KUL is the university, UCLL is the University College. In dutch we say Hoge School and it is a whole different school education. A university diplome is higher than a university college diplome. At university you also do 3 years of bachelor and then x years of master. At the University College you only have 3 years of bachelors or graduates (and later you still can do masters at the university of bachelor after bachelor or postgraduates). UCLL isn't connected with KUL other than beining in the same city ;)
Hi Yasmine! 😊 Thank you for pointing out the little mixup! I was actually trying to get across what you're saying: that KUL university and UCLL are both part of the association KU Leuven but they're different types of education. I just couldn't come up with the proper term to translate 'hogeschool' into English 😅 Thank you for addressing this! I'm sure it'll hep other viewers out if they read it! Hope you have a nice Monday!🤗
Thanks for the video, very clarifying! I’m thinking about applying to a exchange in KU bc my university has relations w KU for also being catholic. I’m a law student, but i couldn’t find a bachelor law program in English. Do you know if this type of program is available?
Hi! I'm struggling with what to write for the letter of motivation. I'm applying for abridged Bachelor's in Philosophy. Any advice or tips for what to write?
Hi Kaypee! Thank you for your question! :) I'm uploading a new Ku Leuven related video this Saturday at 9pm where I'll be answering your question as well as others in detail so please stay tuned!
Hi Sourav! Thank you for leaving me a nice comment! 😁 I’m going to make a video talking specifically about masters in Belgium really soon so if you still have interest it might be helpful 😊 I’m shooting it next week so it should be up at the end of next week or the middle of next next week 😉
Hi Laura! Thank you so much for the video, but I would like to clarify the cost of attendance. Can you provide a range of cost to attend KU Leuven including the tuition fee, housing, meal, and other expenses?
Thank you so much for this video, now I'm practically dreaming of being able to study there!! I have a question: do you know if it's possible to go on an exchange year while being an international student? :-)
Hi Irene! I hope your dream will come true!! :D It is possible for international students to go on an exchange for a semester definitely ( a friend of mine has done it before as an international student) and possibly for a whole year!
I still remember I tried to apply for this school but I noticed that I couldn't find English program I wanted to take. So i ended up going to the U.S college.
@@aena5995 Yes I studied in U.S and graduated from college. Almost all the colleges in US are more expensive than many European universities. But U.S colleges have a lot of scholarship so if you have good grades and academic records, you get some sort of tuition discount on it. College Education in U.S is great. I'm very grateful for what I was given. What's good in my academics was people were quite motivated. That was very cool
Hi Laura, I am an International aspirant student from Asia. Could you share more insight on visa. After completing University how long does a student have to find a job? Like in Canada, students have 1-2 years to find a job.
Hi April! Thank you for leaving me a comment :) The camera I use to film my videos is a canon G7X powershoot mark II :) I had some problems with transferring the files from the camera to my laptop for this video so the quality is soso but now everything works perfectly and I love the camera!
Hi Batool! I'm not sure at the moment, but when I studied there the student restaurants offered vegan, vegetarian, meat and fish menu options. If I'm not mistaken you probably would be able to eat the vegan and vegetarian menus, but they might even offer halal menus by now!
Hello! I've been accepted into KU Leuven for my masters. in Economics. From what I've heard from a school alumnus, the job opportunities are scarce if we're not Dutch or French speaker along with knowing English.
Hi Pranav! You'll have a higher chance to find a job if you can also speak either French or Dutch but if you're looking to work at an international firm then they don't always require it! You still have 2 years before graduating so if you try to learn some Dutch and use it during your everyday life in Leuven then that will be a huge plus during your jobhunting ;) Congratulations on getting accepted! Good luck with your studies!!
@@burcu3677 You reading that as aggressive is your interpretation, I'm just stating a fact. You are putting a tone on my comment that isn't there. It's for sure true that not all jobs require Dutch or French, but a lot do. Integrating in a country, interaction with the government, being able to read the contracts you are singing, requires you to learn the language.
@@Jan-ss9tm No, that was genuinely aggressive. I already know these facts. Maybe you could've been kind enough to make him the exact explanation without using an annoying tone. Thanks
Hi Bahar! The motivation letter is important but if your whole application is looking great and it's just your motivation letter which is soso, than you still have a high chance of being admitted :)
Thank you for your comment! I'm sorry but I'm not familiar with having to write an essay/resume to apply to KUL as this is not a requirement for Belgian students
thats the only one helpful video i found on youtube about study in belgium so euro = 2500 is enough for 1 year study fees and 1 month living expenses for study + living cost right? A BIG THANKS FOR YOU
Hi Weezly! I would probably make the budget a bit higher, KU Leuven recommends to have 700euro available every month for your living expenses and study so that would make 8400 euro if you stay in Belgium all year :)
Any particular scholarships policy in KU Leuven? For instance, a whole year or half tuition fee scholarships which to support and encourage pupils. And I'm now studying A-Levels in Malaysia and hope I'll be there as a Mechanical Engineering student one day...
Hi Laura, great video! You say if one's fluent in English (which I am) they should have no problem, but I'm just curious will my knowing French help me out in any aspects?
Hi Daniel! Knowing French might actually help you out! There are sometimes some class materials in French that you have to read or guest lecturers who give a lecture in french, also if you go to the Southern part of Belgium, knowing French will come in handy!
@@danielfeldman1183 even though Brussels is technically located in the Dutch speaking part of Belgium, most people there speak French so in Brussels it will come in very handy! I’m Leuven you can get perfectly by without knowing any French except for in some very specific circumstances like those guest lectures or if you happen to run into a tourist who only speaks French 😊
Thank you very much. You're very kind. Please I wish to get an admission to study Masters in management information system. Presently I live in Italy but I'm from Cameroon. I just got informations about this prestigious University and would like to enroll for the next coming academic year and I have a couple of questions for you to help me out. Please How do I get to you?
Hi Laura, I'm currently seeking admission into KU Leuven as an International Student from Nigeria My question is, can my High School Diploma as issued by The West African Examination Council (WAEC) stand for me as verified proficiency in English without having to write IELT or TOEFL? I await your warm response Thanks🤗
hi! I'm a student from Myanmar. I'm currently obtaining an Ontario Secondary School Diploma from a high school Canada. I was wondering if I would need to take ACT/SAT for maths since I saw something about proving math proficiency in Ku Leuven's admission requirements, Now I'm confused. I would like to attend ether Bachelor of Engineering Technology or Bachelor of Business Engineering at Ku Leuven. Could you help me?
Thanks for the video! You guys, do you think a one-year masters holder (60ECTS) has less chances to be admitted to a phd program compared to someone that has a two-year masters? I mean is it worth, at the end of the day, a one-year masters for pursuing a phd later on? Plus, when pursuing master's studies (any type), a part-time job would be a barrier for the coursework of study? Thanks again!
Hi Voyagerina! Sorry for the late reply! No I don't think that a one year master's has less chance of being admitted to a phd program! the duration of a master's degree is decided by the faculty (either 1, 2 or 3 years) and their corresponding phd takes that into account so both are fine ;) Also having a parttime job during your master's shouldn't be a problem! you'll have a lot more time in comparison with bachelor students!
Yes there is! It does depend though on the faculty but it is possible to start in the spring semester (February) However, even if you can start in spring, there might be some yearlong classes (they generally start in September) so you’ll have to wait one semester before you can take that class :) It’s best to contact the faculty that you’re interested in directly 👍they will be able to give you a more detailed answer 🙏
Hi Ali Nawaz! Ku Leuven has 4 faculties which offer bachelor programs taught in english: the Institute of Philosophy, the Faculty of Theology and Religious Studies, the Faculty of Business and Economics and the Faculty of Engineering Technology . In total there are 5 bachelor programs taught in English. However, there are a lot more master programs which are taught in English :)
Hi Robbie! I didn't personally because I'm Belgian and it's not a requirement for students like us. I don't know though if they require a medical check-up for international students though
Hi! Thank you for leaving me a comment! Generally, classes aren't recorded but all class materials such as powerpoint slides, word documents etc are always uploaded to an online platform for KU Leuven students :D I used to stay at a student dorm complex called Arenberg! I really enjoyed my time there as it is just right outside the city center (takes about 10min by bicycle to get to class) but you're surrounded by green. And Waterview and Studax are the newest residences for students! They're great and modern and lots of international students reside there!
Thank you for leaving me a comment! How you apply for scholarships depends on which scholarship you’re going for. On Ku Leuven’s website there’s a list of scholarships that you can apply for and all the information on how to apply :) I’m sorry I can’t tell you in detail about them because I’ve only ever applied for the scholarship of the Flemish government. If you want to apply for that one then you have to go through Ku Leuven’s social services and they’ll help you fill everything out :) They do fund international students but how much you get Is based on their conditions ( familial situation, income, student records etc)
Hi 🙋♀️ yes you can still study engineering without an sat as long as you have a high school diploma that also gives you access to higher education (university) in your home country! If you want to know a little bit more in detail, I just uploaded a new video taking about it 😉ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-h5QDEBamK3o.html
Hi Mohamed! I think for a master's in mechanical engineering you'll be best of studying at either KU Leuven or the University of Brussels! KU Leuven is probably the most famous university in Belgium but the university of Brussel has a great program as well!
Thank you as well for leaving me a comment :) It is definitely possible to transfer from a Portuguese university to KU Leuven! In that case the international office of KU Leuven will review the courses you've taken so far at your university in Portugal and see how the overlap with the course or study you want to do at KU Leuven, based on that they'll decide in which year you should start or if you can just continue forward from where you left of in Portugal ;)
Is the same information applied to master's programme in KU Leuven? And cane you talk about University housing and what is better University housing or an individual apartment
Hi Vaidehi Nair! Most of the information is also applicable to Master programmes! I noted down your suggestion for the next KU Leuven video! Hope you'll have a nice Thursday! :D
Hello, Laura, you're really beautiful !!!! I'm from Taiwan, and I'm very interested to study in Belgium, since I was exchange student there in 2019. But the problem I have is the tuition fee for non-EEA students, which is almost 4000 euros a year. Actually I come from a family with my mom present only now, so that amout is going to be a burden for both my mom and me. However, I don't see any information about the reduced tuition fee that you mentioned in the video.... Could you give me some details about this issue?? I will appreciate your help!
Hi Alice! I'm really happy to hear that you are interested in studying in Belgium! Unfortunately, the information of this video was from before they raised to tuition fees for non-EEA students :( You can still however try to contact the social services office. They can inform you about ways to lessen the financial burden on you and your mom ;)
Hi, I have impression that EU universities does not allow students to apply for different departments (BA in Social Science, then wish to apply MSc in Mathematics for example). I have MA in International Relations but wish to switch career to Data Science in the near future hence thinking to re-do Master degree in Statistic or Data Science. Considering my zig-zag educational background I wonder if that is feasible to be admitted to KU Leuven. Any thoughts or advices on this?
Hi Novega it really depends on the case I think 🤔 they might require you to do a preparatory program when switching departments but it shouldn’t be too much of a problem 🤗
Uh sorry can I ask you some question ?>< What is the language requirements if international students wanted to study abroad Belgium ?Is it okay with just ielts exam ? Or I need to have some language exam such as Dutch ,French ,German ?
Thank you for your suggestion! I'll keep it in mind for future KU Leuven related videos! Generally, your nationality and age don't matter to the admission office, as long as you have a high school diploma, speak enough English etc :)
Yes! There are actually a lot of them! I just made a new video 2 weeks ago about all the scholarship and tuition fees information for KU Leuven! I talk specifically there about non European international students and exchange students so I think it could help you out a lot ;) If you go to my channel you'll find it immediately (How to Study DEBT FREE at KU Leuven, Belgium | Reduced Tuition, Scholarships & More!)
I live in the french part of Belgium, I want to go to KU Leuven. I know English,Turkish,French and Spanish but like literally 0 Dutch. Do u think I will be able to enter the university?
Hey.. I got admitted at KU Leuven for masters in water resources engineering.. I was wondering about the job scope in this field there.. Can U help me with that?
Hi Malaikka! It's great to hear you got admitted to KU Leuven for a master's degree! I would love to help you with that but I'm afraid I'm not very knowledgable in the field of engineering... The only thing I can tell you is that in Belgium, as well as other European countries all types of engineers are in high demand so you're prospect on the job market are very good!
Hi! KU Leuven offer a master of bioscience engineering: agricultural & ecosystems engineering! You might want to check that one out 🤗 and yes it’s completely possible to have a parttime job while studying 👍
hi I would like to know about the part time jobs and how possible a preparatory language course in dutch would be because I want to study medicine in dutch
Hi! :D Thank you for your comment ^^Once you are a KU Leuven student there's a platform you can enter where all kinds of different part time student jobs are posted, they're generally well paid and sometimes even connect to your studies ^^As for the preparatory language course, there courses like that available but it might still be really hard to study medicine in Dutch if the only Dutch you've learnt is from the preparatory course. I'm not saying it's impossible but you'll probably have to study really hard by yourself as well outside of that course =D What's your current level of Dutch like?
@@LaurasLifeInJapan thank you for your reply i would love to know how to apply for the preparatory language course and the processes after the language course to get into medicine for my dutch i am still a beginner
Hi @Laura D, I'm going to start my predoc in KU Leuven by September or October 2020. I'm in the departure preparation phase and my visa application is still being processed. Would you happen to know what banks and banking promos/programs/features are available for international students? Which bank offers good savings interest and investment features? And which banks are useful when having transactions outside belgium (e.g. travelling around europe)
Hi thank you for leaving me a comment! Congratulations on starting your predoctorate soon! I hope it'll be amazing! 😊 As a student at Ku Leuven you'll receive a 'resident' card from the Belgian government which enables you to open a bank account at any bank you want. Banks in Belgium don't have the highest saving interest rates but the highest I know about is 0.35% at PNB Paribas Fortis. ING, also has an interesting investment program where you 'give' a set amount of money every month to your bank, they'll invest it for you based on the risk level you chose and the profits are deposited in your 'savings' account. Other famous, reliable banks in Belgium are Argenta, KBC, Beobank, Bpost bank, AXA, Belfius. I'm sorry that I can't really go into detail about all of these banks individually, I only have personal experience with one of these banks. But all of them are well established. Also, when you open a bank account as an international student, that bank account automatically comes with a maestro cash card in most cases. With that card you can buy things and withdraw money from atms etc in all EU countries. Also transferring money to other accounts within the EU doesn't come with extra costs. Hope this helps you at least a bit and let me know if you have any more questions. I'm thinking about making a video soon about all the things that come with student life in Belgium (banks, student recreation, student jobs, what after graduation etc) so if you are interested in hearing about that then let me know too please!
@@LaurasLifeInJapan Hi Laura, thank you very much for the reply, I sincerely appreciate it. I can't seem to find the 0.35% interest rate savings account at PNB Paribas Fortis. . I've done a bit of google maps search for ATMs at Leuven, Brussels, Antwerp, Amsterdam, Berlin, and Paris. ING is present in Belgium, Netherlands, and Germany - which sounds useful to avoid ATM withdrawal fees at non-ING ATMs. However, there are a lot of complaints with ING and PNB Paribas Fortis ATMs. KBC seems better rated by a small margin but is mainly localized in Belgium. . Further, reading app ratings at the Google Play Store. PNB Paribas Fortis has the worst rated app among the 3. ING Belgium app seemed good at some point but is currently having issues. KBC is the best rated by a landslide. . Started with the 3 because they're explicitly mentioned in the KUL website www.kuleuven.be/english/life-at-ku-leuven/money-matters/bank-matters-and-currency-exchange. I have to do further reading on the banks you mentioned and inter-banking transactions. . No further questions for now. I'll let you know whenever. . Yes would be very interested on life as a student in Belgium. Though I would imagine that everything has drastically changed because of COVID (maybe you can do a life before and after COVID comparison hmm...). Also I will probably miss any student orientation since AY2020-2021 begins on the 21st of September and I have a mandatory 14-day self-quarantine upon arrival in Belgium i.e. I won't be able to enroll/register on time.
okay quick reply. i discovered my source of confusion. . in my country, we have savings accounts with debit cards. and that makes a lot of things convenient. Apparently it's not like that in europe. . if you want credit/debit cards, you have to open a current account. Savings accounts are literally for savings.
Hi! Where are you from originally? Love your content about your travels, etc. and I am looking to go to KU Leuven for graduate study at some point (when Covid has been dealt with) so I love hearing about your experience there. I studied abroad for a semester with the Irish College in Leuven including an internship at EU Parliament and I hope to return to Leuven soon!
Hi Josiah! :D I'm originally from Belgium actually :D I'm happy to hear you're considering KU Leuven for your graduate studies! I had a great time there both academically and personally so if you have any questions please let me know!
Hi Laura,I am finishing high school this year and I am interested in studying in Belgium.I wanted to ask if I can apply in KU Leuven right after I finish high school?
Yes there’s no problem at all! You just need your high school diploma 🤗if you’re starting from a bachelors degree you’ll have to watch out though for which bachelors are taught in English and which aren’t 🤗
Hello mam I am from India.I am studying Food Technology, B.Tech, 3rd year. I want do any online course regarding food science and technology from KU Leuven. Can you help me how can i apply?
Hi Sneha 🙋♀️ I’m glad to hear that you want to study 📖 at KU Leuven but they don’t offer any courses related to food science I’m afraid. The closest thing might be bio-chemical engineering I think 🤔
Hi Laura! Thank you for this very informative video I really like it. I will be applying to Ku Leuven university in few months for my Master's degree but because ın my own Country we don't write "Motivation and/or intention" letters ı wanted to ask you if you have any experience in writing these. I of course checked ınternet but ı wanted to know a student of Ku Leuven's experience on this if you have one! Thank you so much for your time!
Hi Kurt! Thank you for your comment :) I've had to write quite a lot of motivation letters myself so I hope I can help you. What's important with a motivation letter is that you kind of give a description of your current circumstances, and how studying at KU leuven could be a great thing for you, what it would mean for you both personally and career wise. Also, it's very important to talk about your own strengths and weaknesses and how they might be useful or improve at KU Leuven. So try to convince them with your letter that you cannot only benefit from studying at KU Leuven, also convince them that YOU studying at KU Leuven is a good thing for KU Leuven and the students there ^^
@@LaurasLifeInJapan Thank you so much Laura I will apply to Ku Leuven in 3 weeks! I hope to write to you again here to tell you I get accepted. Have a great and safe day! :)

Hi Adil :) I’m sorry for the late reply, I don’t get notifications when someone’s leaves me a comment so I only just saw it now! Hi Ekram! Thank you for your comment! I can’t give you a straightforward answer unfortunately 😅 at bachelor level medicine is only taught in Dutch. There are some English masters in medicine available but it is best to contact ku Leuven’s medicine faculty directly 😊
Hi Eleonora! :) Generally KU Leuven requires you to submit a IELTS or TOEFL certificate so I'm not sure if your Cambridge English certificate is enough. You might have to get into contact with the admission's office to discuss your case :)
Hello, Dear Laura ...I am from India and I want to know that ..how is the opportunity for getting a full fellowship to pursuing Postdoctoral research or double Ph.D. at KU Leuven in Geography, Agriculture, and Environment. Currently, I am doing a Ph.D. at The University of Malaya (UM) , Kuala Lumpur on "Recycling of Agricultural waste in Organic Farming" ..my research topic is related to Agriculture, Environment & Sustainable Development. Kindly let me know further ...I am very eager to study there...Thanks
Hi Md Abdullah! Thank you for your message! I'm going to send you a link to Ku Leuven's website about applying for a phd in geography and all the information related to it! www.kuleuven.be/personeel/jobsite/en/phd/phd-candidates Do you mean a scholarship with fellowship? In case you mean a scholarship, Ph.D's at Ku Leuven are paid, so you'll be making around 2000 euro (after taxes) per month during the 4 years of your Ph.D. In that case you won't have to worry about getting a sponsorship. There are currently some Ph.D positions available in your field of interest so if you can it's best to apply before the 31st of August (closing date of the admissions) I hope I could help you with this!
Hii Laura, I've been looking for Advance masters in Artificial intelligence from KULeuven since i already hold masters from my home country. The issue is they asking an IELTS score of overall 7 with no sub-score less than 6.5 since i scored overall 6.5 i got 6 in Reading, 7 in both Listening/Speaking and 6.5 in Writing. Am i still eligible?
Hi Aqib! Wow that advance masters program sounds very interesting! I can’t give you a definite answer though to your question 🤗it depends on the admission office whether they’ll accept your IELTS score or not. But generally if you can show to them that you speak or write English very well then I don’t think there will be a problem 🤗I have known some people who didn’t meet the IELTS requirements but got a conditional admission anyways 😊

I also mailed them couple of months ago and I was told that I can't make into this particular program. I don't understand why they ask overall 7 specifically for Faculty of Engineering.
Hi Bilith! On this website of KU Leuven you can find a lot of student jobs even for international students :) www.kuleuven.be/english/studentservices/studentcareercenter/studentjob
Hi 🙋♀️ thank you for watching!! Yes it’s true that Belgium doesn’t offer a post work visa but if you find a job at the end of your studies in Belgium you can change your student visa into a work one!
duygu merhaba, eğer sende uygun görürsen tanışmak isterim. Ben de bu sene başvuracağım ve birbirimize arkadaş oluruz hem bilgi paylaşımı da yaparız istersen tabii :)
Hey Laura, your video was very helpful. I want to study in Ku Leuven as an international student, i have some questions, i'm really lost. What is the language of the computer science major or engineering technology because i just speak English and French, and the tuition fees are they the same for me as an international student? (900 euros.. something like that) thank you for your help.
Hi Rick! The computer science major is designed especially for international students so the language in which it is taught is English. The bachelor in engineering technology is for Belgian and International students both but English is used in class. And yes, the tuition fees should be the same as for Belgian students :)
@@LaurasLifeInJapan thanks Laura, i'm sorry i have so many questions so ill ask you this too. I was doing the application days ago but suddenly my friends changed my mind and told me to go for masters in 3 years and not now. The question is if i am obliged with 5 days a week in university or can i make them 3 or 2 to have time to work? Because if i don't work i can't live there, do you think i have the time to work(20 hours per week), go to university, and study? What do you say...?
@@LaurasLifeInJapan I am from lebanon and the euro is too high if you compare it with my lebanese lira, so 800 euro (the money i need for 1 month) is the double salary of the two of my parents (in lebanese lira) , so i am obliged to work!!!! Will i find work immediatly? Can the university find work for me?? I am so worried if i go and don't find work i will suffer!! There is problems in my country with the lira so sometimes people can't send to other countries, i am afraid this will happen too...
Hi Anubhav! Thank you for your comment! I can’t give you an answer about this because it depends on the faculty and what you’d like to study so it’s best to contact the faculty that you’d like to attend directly 😊
I got a conditional acceptance from the department of Business engineering but I think graduate from ku leuven might be hard because it is among the top 50 universities in world.Do you have information about graduation rate of business engineering
Hi 🙋♀️ thank you for your question! I don’t have specific information about business engineering but on average 20-30% of students will graduate within 3 years of starting their bachelors. There’s no entrance exam, so instead the bar is set really high level wise and especially the first year you’ll have to process a lot on information at once. If you can get through the first year, then the years after that will get easier! Good luck 😉
Hi CodeGuy! You have an SAT you say? Did you study in the USA or another English speaking country? If yes, then you don't need to give prove of English proficiency upon applying to Ku Leuven. Just your nationality is enough ;)
