Looking for MORE TIPS on HOW TO STUDY THE BIBLE --- ru-vid.com/group/PLUjJld9qhclrJZ3fxftb9lirCFYP8piR9

I have the NKJ Charles Stanley Life Principle bible that I carry to church and study in. There is no room to write in this bible so what I do is add tip ins in my bible. A few women on RU-vid have videos that I learned this from. I also underline in my bible with colored pens and use a ruler to keep lines straight. I discovered your videos this morning and have learned a lot binge watching. When I go to thrift stores I look through used bibles and have bought 3 from there. Thank you so much for your videos

I have God’s promises, in blue, His commands in green His correction/instruction yellow, His characteristics are Purple then biblical prayers are pink orange I use for conditional promises. But a lot of that depends on where one is at in their Christian walk and what manner of study it pertains to. This colour key is for a dedicated one year of study into just God’s promises be they conditional or unconditional, His Character Traits, His teaching and correction and then examples of biblical prayer. In my regular Bible reading/study I use different colours to underline different things, but use a prayer journal for notes.

I love your enthusiasm and energy. Great video. I would have loved some close-up of your notes, marginalia, and key.

Thank you!! I’m actually considering doing a “reboot” of this video with some better shots and tech. This was real early and I had no idea what I was doing tech wise. That’s for the encouragement!!

I was so excited to see a computer note/journaling method, thank you! Wow, corresponding colours between physical and digital notes, embedded links and photos, this is awesome! This system really appeals to me as a database programmer. Now I just need to figure out a way to index those notes by category across the multiple docs to facilitate topical study and going back after the fact!

I use my own color code system, Jason Mayfield helped inspire that. It's different but I adopted his idea. The problem is, there aren't enough colors for all the topics I want to highight/underline! That symbol idea that I have seen by some people is really awesome, to be able to identify the topic with a single symbol instead of multiple words or something. Definitely something to adopt for the less prevalent ideas in my own study.

I was choosy with my cors for that reason. So many ideas. I run I to trouble when I want to highlight yellow and blue or green at the same time. Lol

I don't highlight, just underline, it let's the text stand out better when I'm just reading as opposed to studying. My Bible, ESV top grain leather WM ref, has enough space between the lines to underline twice with the .45mm/05 pigma microns or three times with 01/.25mm if I'm careful the first time through. But yeah, I'll be thinking of symbols to use. Tonight lol I love seeing people 'review' their own personal Bibles and explaining how they study the Word. Awesome videos man!

Love Jason! Such a character! Funny! 😅 You know, he changed his coloring system to align more with Chad Brooks'. Jason's was all over the place.

I have a modified version of the Jonathan Edward’s Miscellanies system that I was introduced to by Matthew Everhard. Basically, I use the Greek alphabet to categorize my notes by “type” of note α for “apostolic” = NT (apostolic) usage of OT ω for “omega/last” = references to Jesus as Yahweh/deity β “book” = book notes δ “doctrine” = doctrinal notes θ “theologian” = quotes and citations from theologians of church history (not inspired authors) τ “text” = notes related to textual-critical issues χ “cross” = cross references/topical references φ “prophet” = fulfilled prophecies π “H” = historical anecdotes ι “info” = background info. λ “L” = life application μ “M” = miscellaneous As part of the Miscellanies system, my notes are in the form of a chain-reference system to clear up Bible space. I don’t like notes that make the page so busy that it’s not readable, so this system is necessary for saving detailed notes, having your Bible still be neat and readable, and also being able to filter notes out by type

This is quite a system. I’ve heard Everhard talk about his systems and they’re great. I’m just not smart enough for them. Lol. Thanks for sharing! Especially taking time to put the actual Greek in!!! Love it!

I've never been a fan of using symbols, but this is the most appealing one I've seen. Thanks for sharing it. Many decades ago... I'm old!... I would use Greek letters as shorthand when taking notes in class.

DEC 2022 -- I'm working on a "program" that makes worksheets of Bible chapters to mark and make notes on. The only thing required is to copy a chapter like you did here, then click a few buttons. It's a work in progress, but here is a silent video of it so far. (Silent because I have speech issues for one thing and limited video skills for another.) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-8K8wzkdNHY4.html

I haven’t. But I also kinda started a few “projects “ in other Bible’s with highlights. So I could have. Just did it in a different Bible

You may have said this and I missed it...but how do you type your notes PRACTICALLY? I mean...are you reading, jotting and highlighting AND typing into the computer all at once? What does your study time LOOK like with these tools and methods?

I would like to write in one of my Bibles but I tried before and I just made a mess ! Did things wrong , I’m not very good at doing that kind of thing
@ClaimingChristianity

Yeah I hear ya. I take my time now and don't wrote in it till I've studied the passage for a while and usually only wrote specific stuff. You can always use a pencil. But these days I mostly use my Google docs system. It's fantastic.

@@ClaimingChristianity thankyou for reply , I think I’ll do what you said do my study and make sure what I want to highlight and write first. Part of my problem is my writing is not very good. Thanks for your video 👍

That's why inexpensive Bibles are best. I ruined a few before getting my system down. I learned that white out tape covers a multitude of my note-taking sins. 😊
