Another thing softball players say In the middle of winter after taking a break because of weather ... is it nice enough to go outside and do drills or something
I play travel baseball and I have played with two girls that play baseball because they say it is more challenging than softball. I can not say which is harder for I have never played softball. I imagine it is very challenging
Tanner Simpson My dad coached both myself in baseball and my sister in softball. He said softball is harder because every single pitcher has a riser, screwball, sinker (called a dropball), changeup, curveball, and fastball. My sister said the _sport_ of fastpitch softball is harder, but the average high school baseball player is better because there's a bigger pool of players to pick from. About half the people who tried out for my high school baseball team wouldn't make it but only a few wouldn't make the softball team.
I love this video. I coach girls ages 9 and up and I'm always trying to explain to my older girls what it's going to be like to be a collegiate athlete. This video illustrates the points I'm always trying to make in a funny way. The girl dancing/cheering reminds me of my younger daughter who we always have to remind to stay focused! 😂
for batting: keep your eyes on the ball for catching/throwing: have a catch with someone, it helps for fielding: run after the ball like your life depends on it
Well I'm in seventh grade and I already had tryouts and my first game is march 1 so all I got to say is for catching, always have two hands holding the mitt, hand in the mitt and other hand squeezing it.Batting just swing like you mean it,and don't rest it on your shoulder.Hitting zone is your torso and above the knees anything above or below don't hit.And that's all hope you do good
+GianniGhost Hi there. I've been playing ball for quite a few years now and I can honestly say that the most important things is to focus. If you strikeout or miss a ball don't let it get you down. Shake it off and redeem yourself with an even better play or hit. You'll make some serious errors if you don't focus on what's going on in the moment. And another really important thing is to not get a big head. I know it's hard because I used to have one of the biggest heads, but when you get lined in the knee cap, you humble down a bit. Have confidence in yourself, but don't get bossy just becuse you think you're better than other girls. Be optimistic and I swear you'll have a fun year. Oh, and winning isn't everything, but it sure as hell is fun.
+1 because you remind me of my sister. While you're still young, you could learn a lot about softball form from RU-vid videos. Just don't watch Jennie Finch's batting, she's way too far out on her front foot.
I'm considering doing softball (would be my first year in softball, and in doing sports) I'm going to work very hard this summer to get in better shape for it and to practice. Any advice?
Don't ever give up! You're gonna get mad at people/ the game. But as long as your practice almost every day. You'll do great. Try to find a local batting cage, and start throwing a softball around with a friend of yours. (And do lots of lifting or just squats, planks, and long runs.)
I hate the beginning because your calves and thighs are so sore during conditioning. and the first and second week you have ice bags on you. But by the end you don't find it so hard.
