@hugokarlen3510
@hugokarlen3510 5 лет назад
@@heyheychels Due to women being more empatheticly involved in the child the man usually wants to help one way or another. One of those ways is supporting the family financially. We understand through psychology that men are generally more intrested in materialistic things and women in people, this is an evolutionary advantage. The man doesn't want to abonden his family, but to help in a way he can well, which is financially.

"Old fashioned" is an English idiom. I don't know Japanese, but I am a sign language interpreter and often times when interpreting a more long winded concept in one language can be very easily interpreted or vice versa. Especially with idioms because it can compress a very specific concept into a short and sweet comment.

And if he wants to work, is that also her decision? Such a "I want to be right" answer. As a black man, a lot of black women expect the man to earn more than her and look down on him as a partner if he doesn't. At the same time they (rightly) fight for equality of opportunity in employment and pay. It's weird. We're all human with equal potential. Whoever wants more shoukd have nothing to do with gender. People have weird hangups. Historical Cultural norms and expectation are to blame

"yeah but if you wanna make more money than your wife wouldn't you want her to get paid less for the same job?" i felt that. i think a lot of men have the same mentality of knowing its a stupid pride thing but still wanting to earn more money without realising what it truly means and what the consequences are.
@kennygoodman4194
@kennygoodman4194 5 лет назад
@LatinoGirl3 Men innately know that they are valued by women for what they bring to the table. It's proven over and over that women want to marry up, meaning men who make more money then them have greater social standing. Men are willing to marry down and could care less about social standing. Ask your friends about their 4 page list of requirements for a partner. Men have a small sticky note when looking for someone.It's not a stupid pride thing. It's knowing that the more money they earn the more chances they have of finding sex or a successful relationship. An equal pay situation has a lot of potential pitfalls and risks. There is nothing more damaging to a woman's view of a man than him being unemployed while she pays for everything.
@Lundy.Fastnet.Irish_Sea
@Lundy.Fastnet.Irish_Sea 5 лет назад
@@kennygoodman4194 being unemployed is completely different to having less pay. Ideally both people has to be able to support the household in case something happened to one of them. Beyond that, why does it matter who earns more money?
@chico4631

Kenny Goodman men and women get paid equally already and just cause you want to make more money then someone don’t mean you want them to pay them less we are competitive not cowards or cheaters
@kennygoodman4194
@kennygoodman4194 5 лет назад
@Geo Y The point I was trying to make was that in general women find men who make more money then them attractive while men who make less than them or have lost their job (boyfriend/husband) they tend to find unattractive or start to lose respect for the men they are in relationships with. It matter more to women who makes more money because women innately value men for what they can provide.
@kennygoodman4194

I'm a 25 girl, unmarried, and was very happy about this until I realized the down side. It's like living far from your family - yes, you feel independent, unrestricted, and able to live for yourself. But with age, you realize that living for yourself is entertaining, but not fulfilling. You don't need to rush into marriage, and when you're married don't rush out of the marriage. But the journey of life spent with another gives you something precious that can't be bought. That companionship, even if it ends badly, is better than ending alone. When I was younger, I looked at all the divorce out there and misery and hatred between exes, and I thought “I'm not going to make some one miserable, I'm not going to spend my life with someone I hate” …well, that's like saying “I'm not going to drive a car because of all the accidents.” Thats not the answer - the answer should be to wear seatbelts, take precautions. My resolution SHOULD have been “I'm going to love my spouse, for whoever he is, and I'm going to give him my best.” Instead, I chose to live for me, and that's who I got …just me. Find someone to love, and give them your best. Like an ocean voyage, it may not last forever but at least you gave it your best shot. And there may be many perils and storms, but atleast you survived them with someone. The relationships that I've had were very special to me and I wish I had gotten married. Instead, I married my “independence”. The people that get divorced and hate each other, they didn't know how to love, they were selfish - it wasn't “marriage” that created the misery, it was their unwillingness to love each other. Love is willing to accommodate (not a reluctant willingness, but an eager willingness), even when you don't really want to. Even when there's no gain from it. Even when the other person is annoying, or stinky, or exhausting. And when you can love your spouse like that, chances are your spouse will, too. And yes, it's POSSIBLE that you might love a person who doesn't, or can't, love their spouse …and that is sad. It really is. But I'd rather go to the Olympics and fail, than never go at all. Love is patient, love is kind. Love does not envy, is not boastful and is not conceited. Love is not rude or self-seeking. I'm waiting for the right one. If you agree with what I said, then contact my whatsapp: +447901380061 I travel around the world, and my love won't be limited by district. Never Ever Part As Lovers.

The gender equality issues in Australia are some of the worst I've seen (I'm Australian btw) . The stereotypes are strong and the need to fit into these masculine vs feminine structures are still so valued - if not, even more recently. It's actually odd for me to see this open dialogue between the fathers and sons since I would've expected the fathers to scoff at some of the questions or try to deter from really answering. So I applaud these sons for challenging their dads!

People get paid for the hard/valuable work they’ve done. So if a woman and a man are doing the same job (and neither is a bad employee who just goes to work everyday play computers), why should the woman get paid less? My mum was often the best employee of the month in her company before she retired, and I would be pissed to know if she earned less than her male colleagues for the same work (although she was probably paid less...). But at least that doesn’t change my equal respect for her as a working mum to provide for the house and my education. Nowadays it’s getting harder and harder for working-class women (who also marry a working-class man) to become a full-time housewife. So if a woman has to work and takes on the impossible task of balancing work/housework/childcare (hopefully along with her husband who’s not too “uncomfortable” with doing dishes and changing diapers), she better gets paid adequately or otherwise the household is just gonna get poorer and poorer...oh wait, that may just be what the ruling class wants. A poorer and weaker working-class. Never mind then.

I've got tears in my eyes. I expected this to be full of Americans telling a narrative I've already seen all over the internet. But instead I got my Aussie blokes questioning how they can help to make a difference when it comes to equality, and really seeing that shift in just one generation. Truly gives me hope.

Lmao when the dude was like ‚i think we did it equally‘ and his son was like ‚no mom did way more of the housework‘ it‘s always like that. My dad does the dishes once and that gives him enough pride to use it as an argument for the next entire week while my mom sweaps the floors and cleans the bathrooms lol

@sabrinagranger5468

Right? Men often get disproportionate praise for doing the bare minimum, and often perceive that they do more housework than they actually do. My family, for example: After I was like 2 or 3, both my parents worked 40hr days and made about the same amounts of money, and they also split the housework and child care pretty fairly (it's not like there were spreadsheets dividing it up exactly to the minute, but both would cook together, both would clean the house and garden, etc. - us kids would obviously help). It was pretty fair and healthy, I never thought anything of it. BUT when someone saw my father taking me to a doctor's appointment or if I mentioned that my father packed my lunch that day, people would often make a big deal about it. Never happened when my mother did that...

It's sad to see the fathers think of themselves as the heart of the family but then hear their son think the opposite. And then immediately afterwards is the bit about the son telling his dead he wish he worked less and spent more time with him :(

Funny how all these men said they thought they were the hearts of the households, but their sons all said otherwise. Some said chores were split evenly, their sons were like 'actually, no, mom did that.' Every one of the first generation men know what's going on in the media, and all they were trying to do was stay ahead of the times. Saying it doesn't fix it; if that was the case, the issues would've been gone a long time ago.

The answers to these questions can never be generalized. Each relationship to their own. If the women wants to work a full-time job, let her, divide up the childcare/chores/whatever. If the father wants to spend more time with the children (than the average dad), let him, work it out with your husband/wife. It's about communication and compromises.

angelmushahf yes he had worked before but he went to jail (he won’t tell me why) he’s actually going to nursing school right now and is almost done with it so he’ll be making money soon. My mom makes a lot of money with her two jobs since she got just a nice degree which is nice so she was able to take maternity leave but my dad hasn’t worked since I was very very young. It’s just always been like that so I wouldn’t know any different

In fairness, a lot of fathers are the primary bread winners of the household, and if you're middle class or lower, you have to work a lot just to survive. This seems to be overlooked a lot, not necessarily in this video, but in the topic of childcare and raising kids

I am so grateful to my parents for the education they gave me . I was equally raised by my mother and father , they both did the domestic chores (and so did I) , they both worked, they both took care of feeding me and my brother, they both entertained us , they both taught us about sexuality and other topics when we were of age . My father can cook a six course meal and my mother can fix any engine , and vice versa because they also taught each other and taught my twin brother and myself as well . I am married to a Japanese born and raised in Japan and hell was the childhood different ! Though we are the same age . We have 5 kids which we are raising equally though it is a bit different since we are both males . And don't start with the that's why you are gay . My Identical twin brother turned out straight .

My dad, who's a baby boomer and a solid 13 years older than my mom, has always had the mindset of "women raise the children and do housework, men make the money and do yard-work every once in a while". Ever since they got divorced though, and split custody evenly, he's had to do all the cooking and cleaning and whatnot for his house. He even told me awhile ago that he thinks he would have made a pretty good stay at home dad, and I respect him a lot for that.
