Elite NHL goalies like Swayman are probably tired of skaters being paid for what they might be, while they're only paid for what they did last season and generally not even that.
Well the thing about that is that you can pay a skater what he might be because hey, if he doesn’t work out, there’s 17 other guys that earn that money. With a goalie, you can’t pay them what the might be because if they don’t live up to it, have fun finding a replacement.
the thing is goalies play swing so much and when u can only have max 3 on a team paying 8 and having an off season is risky get it’s frustrating for the players but it’s part of the position
Tough man, When teams can use a goalie on an elc contract or a call up who is hot to win games, Especially in the playoffs, Goalies will always make less then the players. Just the way of the game, And i’m not trying to be a dick about it, Like goalie is the most expensive role in hockey, And probably the toughest to get security with, But because of the sport it just isn’t smart from a team building mindset to pay goalies what they are most likely worth.
@@thebeatleswin1 yea it’s rough i get it i am i goalie myself granted no where near nhl level but they just r not good consistently enough unless ur a price or vasy to many goalies fall off after a couple good yrs like sorokin what happened to him that’s why that can’t afford to pay goalies more then 5x5
Full props to Julian on the promotion and new locale; getting to work with our boy and friend of the show Ian Mendes again (did you forget he works for the Senators now?)
Steve, the reason Ullmark was traded when he was is that he had the opportunity to change his no trade list on June 30th. That’s why they traded him on the 26th - they felt they might not get as good a return (or any return at all) if Ullmark modified his no trade list to include all the teams that were interested in him. Not saying that makes it the right decision of course, but hindsight is 20/20 and at the time I think the bruins figured they would’ve met Swayman in the middle by now. They weren’t expecting him to try to reset the RFA goalie market.
@@justin4364 if they thought this was going to happen they elect for arbitration simple as that they thought they had a framework in place and then Gross took full advantage of the Ullmark trade.
If the Bruins did not know what Swayman wanted ballpark then they are incompetent and if they knew when Ullmark would have leverage and they did not move heaven and earth to lock up Swayman they look out of touch with how negotiations happen.
Speaking of "Steve". I was on a bantam hockey team that had 6 guys named Steve. We gad a goalie[me], 2 defensemen, and 3 forwards. we could ice an entire lineup of "Steve's"!
Noah Gregor was not only on the ice for the Bruins game tying goal, he had a terrible giveaway at the blueline shortly before that where he failed to clear it. Keefe royally screwed up by A) breaking up what had been a good shutdown unit of Dewar-Kampf-Jarnkrok, B) taking out one of the few offensive threats on this team in Robertson, C) putting Matthews on a line with two players who have little offensive talent (Holmberg who's young, and Jarnkrok who's a playoff ghost) and D) putting in Noah Gregor, a replacement level player to play on a shutdown line. It blew up in Sheldon's face and it cost him his job here. Good riddance.
Just got done watching the first episode of face-off. Brought back a lot of bad feelings, lol. But we're just about to start a new season. With that comes a fresh start and optimism. Maybe this year will be our year 🤞
A note the Coyotes did not put Weber on LTIR they put him on regular IR. They used him and others (little for example) to help ensure they reached the cap floor.
The Bruins' upper level management has operated in disgusting ways in the past. They have even been called out and been forced to reverse slimy decisions by the players. Don't give Bruins management any benefit of the doubt; especially the president.
Swayman wants the high risk high reward contract that many other young players have signed. That's how contracts usually work now. It's more about what a team thinks the player will become than what they currently are. Swayman deserves his money imo.
Steve, come on, it's STEVE night?! You've gotta find a way to go, you'll regret it, you know it, you'll regret not being part of a world record for the most Steve's, tweet about it, get other Steve's to see it, tag celebs named Steve, you'll get someone biting to go and you can go and just be a Steve. Among your peers.
I'm not sure if I drink too much pop or if Steve doesn't know what 16oz is 473ml, it's a little bit more than a can of pop or the "small" size at most fast food restaurants. Also, I think what started as a discussion of Utah prices slowly transformed into the return of "Fat Guy Corner" which is a segment that I have missed😂😂😂😂
Worth mentioning the Bruins chose to give Swayman a 1 year deal not a 2 year deal out of arbitration. Because Swayman elected for arbitration it was up to the team to pick if the deal was 1 or 2 years. The Bruins gave Swayman the opportunity to make more money sooner and traded their entire leverage over him taking a cheap deal moving Ullmark. The team has clearly been operating in good faith the entire time since last summer. Gross and Swayman haven't.
I still think that theres a chance swayman wouldve signed for less, had the management team not traded away his bromance partner. I always thought they traded ullmark because they wanted to give swayman more of an opportunity, and not to get the money to sign swayman, and the ullmark trade made swaymans ask skyrocket, but thats just me
Im around 31 minutes in and Steve is so wrong about liljegren, its not that he’s just a liability on D, he gives the puck away EVERY TIME he has it, its absolutely brutal to watch. Big leafs fan but im a huge fan of whenever he gets crunched into the boards
I really don’t get all the fuss about the Robin Lehner situation. How is this any different than him being on regular old LTIR? There is obviously more than just a medical issue going on with him, but at the end of the day he’s not playing and he doesn’t count against the cap. There’s no advantage to Vegas here at all.
"What's to stop a team from signing a 50 year old ex-NHL player for 10 million bucks and throwing him on LTIR" What would be the benefit of doing that? The only way LTIR is an "advantage" is if you use it to stash somebody and then have them magically healthy once the playoffs start, no? Or you're the Coyotes trying to make the floor lol
Minnesota (the state) is known for having a high concentration of Swedish Americans in the entirety of the United States. Now ask me (an American) where the highest concentration of Swedish Canadians are…No idea 😂 Vancouver?
Surely swayman is worth whatever he can get someone else to pay for him ? Is ullmark is so good why is he is Ottawa and why didn’t he play in the playoffs more than swayman ?
Bruins fan input that no one wants..... 1- I'm going to vomit if we lose Swayman to this bullshit 2- Despite being leafs fans I really appreciate you guys 3- Keep the core four 4- Love ya
As fair as that arbitration statement is Steve, he took them there and is holding the things against the bruins that were said…… sway wants everything for nothing, you wanna go to arbs deal with the BS that’s gonna be said lmao act like a 25 year old and move on lmao, but he’s holding on to things, it’s a weird spot tbh but it’s like as much as cams gotta stop being unprofessional, sways gotta grow up and stop being a baby lmao. Regarding ullmark they had about 4 days before Boston wasn’t going to be able to move him so as much as that’s a good idea it’s not realistic
I don't get why people tune in to be so critical about Adam when there's at least three white paint chips in the blue stripe beside him that should be the main point of concern.
